Kuwait Shooting Club launches major training program to develop Olympic talent
KUWAIT CITY, July 16, (KUNA): President of the Kuwait Shooting Club, Duaij Al-Otaibi, affirmed that the club's organization of a training course at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Sports, aligns with its strategic goal of expanding the shooting community and identifying promising Kuwaiti talents. Speaking to KUNA yesterday, Al-Otaibi revealed that the course will host more than 1,000 male and female participants, covering all Olympic shooting disciplines — shotgun, rifle, and Olympic archery. The two-month program aims to develop participants' skills using the latest training methodologies under the supervision of internationally accredited coaches. Al-Otaibi highlighted the importance of collaboration with the Public Authority for Sports, emphasizing the club's commitment to supporting youth passionate about the sport by helping them improve their technical abilities and productively utilizing their time during the summer break. He commended the Authority — particularly acting Director General Bashar Abdullah and his deputies — for their support in facilitating the program's success. He also praised the strong commitment and skill shown by the young shooters in the course, noting it as a promising sign of a new generation of Kuwaiti champions. These athletes, he said, are well-positioned to continue the country's legacy of achievements in Olympic, international, continental, and regional competitions. Al-Otaibi concluded by expressing his gratitude to Kuwait's political leadership for its ongoing support and encouragement of shooting sports, reaffirming the club's dedication to fulfilling its mission and achieving continued progress.

Asian Championship experience key for Kuwait's rising squash stars
SARAWAK, Malaysia, June 22: The Kuwaiti squash team wrapped up its participation in the 23rd Asian Men's Championship, which began last Monday in Sarawak, Malaysia. The team was led by Adel Al-Gharib, a member of the Kuwait Squash Federation's Board of Directors. It included players Athbi Al-Jamaan, Abdulrahman Al-Maghribi, Jassim Al-Gharib, and Khaled Al-Fawzan. Commenting on the competition, Al-Gharib said, 'The participation of 86 players from 16 Asian countries highlights the tournament's high caliber and fierce competitiveness, especially with many players ranked among the continent's elite.' He emphasized that Kuwait's participation with young players under the age of 19 was a strategic move to build for the future. Al-Gharib noted that upon returning to Kuwait, the players will follow a structured training program designed to prepare them for upcoming continental events. This initiative is part of the Federation's long-term strategy to develop a golden generation capable of elevating Kuwait's standing in international squash. He also highlighted the professionalism of the participating athletes, pointing out that many represent federations operating under comprehensive professional systems and are ranked globally, not just regionally. 'I am proud of our players,' he added. 'Even if the results don't reflect our aspirations, this is just the beginning of a promising journey. We believe in the potential of our young athletes.' Al-Gharib extended his gratitude to the Public Authority for Sports and the Federation for their continued support. He also congratulated the Qatari Squash Federation on its achievements. In his role as Vice President of the Asian Squash Federation, Al-Gharib had the honor of presenting an award to Qatari player Abdulla Al-Tamimi for securing second place in the championship.

Speaking ahead of the honoring ceremony, Acting Director-General of the Public Authority for Sports Bashar Abdullah praised the team's exceptional results, attributing their success to the strategic planning and dedicated preparation of the Kuwait Shooting Federation. He emphasized the Federation's commitment to nurturing shooters and equipping them for high-level competitions. Chairman of the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club, Duaij Al-Otaibi, described the achievement as a proud moment for Kuwait. He dedicated the medals, on behalf of himself, the Board of Directors, and the champion shooters, to the country's political leadership and the people of Kuwait, stating: "These achievements by our shooters bring pride to the entire Kuwaiti shooting community." Al-Otaibi expressed optimism about future success, voicing his hope that Kuwait's male and female shooters would continue to excel and represent the country with distinction in upcoming international tournaments. Meanwhile, shooter Shahad Al-Hawal, who contributed to the team's silver medal in trap shooting, shared her joy at placing second in what she described as a highly competitive event. 'Winning second place at the Asian level is a significant achievement, especially given the strength of the participating national teams,' Al-Hawal said, adding that she looks forward to further accomplishments in the future.

Kuwait shines at Asian Shooting Championships in China
LINFEN, China, June 5: The Kuwait Shooting Sports Club announced that the national shooting team claimed three medals—two gold and one bronze—at the ongoing Asian Shooting Championships in Linfen, China. The tournament features strong participation from across the continent, making this a significant achievement for Kuwaiti shooting. Duaij Al-Otaibi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation and President of the Shooting Club, confirmed that champion shooter Mansour Al-Rashidi won gold in the individual skeet competition. Fellow shooter Abdulaziz Al-Saad secured the bronze medal, while the silver went to a Malaysian competitor. In the team skeet shooting competition, the Kuwaiti trio—Abdulaziz Al-Saad, Mansour Al-Rashidi, and Abdulaziz Al-Faihan—clinched the gold medal, outperforming host nation China, which took silver, and Qatar, which earned the bronze. Al-Otaibi dedicated this victory to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and the people of Kuwait. The event brought together former club presidents, administrators, and stars from the golden generation, along with prominent Kuwaiti sports officials, including the Acting Director of the Public Authority for Sports, Bashar Abdullah. The ceremony honored past presidents and standout players of the "Sons of Mishref," recognizing their invaluable contributions since the club's founding in 1965 on Failaka Island. Bashar Abdullah lauded Yarmouk Club's rich legacy and its vital role in shaping the Kuwaiti sports landscape. 'Six decades of achievement and dedication deserve to be celebrated and passed on with pride to future generations,' he said.
