Epsom tilt ‘unlikely' for Purview with Dermot Weld targeting Irish Derby instead
Dermot Weld is set to target next month's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby with Purview and described as 'unlikely' any tilt at Epsom next week with his promising colt. Winner of a Dundalk maiden on his debut in November, Purview reappeared in Leopardstown's Derby Trial over a fortnight ago and ran a very promising second to Delacroix. The colt now heads betting for Saturday week's Derby but Weld is lukewarm on the idea of taking Delacroix on again at Epsom. 'He's still a very big and immature horse and still wants more time, so I would say he is unlikely to go to Epsom. We still have races like the Irish Derby in mind,' Weld said on Tuesday. READ MORE The renowned Curragh trainer also reported that his good filly Swelter will get a break after finishing lame in Sunday's Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas behind Lake Victoria. Swelter lost her unbeaten record when ninth in the weekend classic. 'Unfortunately she was lame post-race. It's nothing serious. She just needs a bit of time off and she'll be back in the autumn,' said Weld. Derby prospects were to the fore on Tuesday morning when the John & Thady Gosden team worked their 'Blue Riband' hopefuls Damysus and Nightwalker at the unique Epsom course. The pair were last seen finishing runner-up and fifth in the Dante at York and Thady Gosden was pleased to give both a 'sighter' of their upcoming challenge. 'It's a very unique track which is impossible to emulate anywhere and just for them to get a feel for it and perhaps get them a few strides quicker in the race can only be a positive thing. 'They both handled it very well. They're very intelligent horses, the pair of them, really taking it in. You could see Damysus pricking his ears coming to the line,' he said. 'They're both talented colts, both have a good turn of foot and both travel well in their races. Also, we know it's a big occasion and it's very easy for it to get to them a little bit but just on the evidence here this morning they seem to handle everything very well,' Gosden added. Wednesday's domestic action is over jumps at Wexford but the smart flat horse Sunchart features in a conditions hurdle. Although not as effective over flights, Andy Slattery's stalwart did record his only win over hurdles at Wexford and any rain will help his chances.

German Enterprises Deploy Microsoft AI, Uncertain of ROI
FRANKFURT, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Enterprises in Germany are increasing their investments in Microsoft AI tools and services despite uncertainties about how these technologies will pay off, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm. Microsoft is surging forward in AI, and German enterprises want to benefit from its innovation. Service providers with proven AI use cases and extensive experience are essential for successful implementations. The 2025 ISG Provider Lens™ Microsoft AI and Cloud Ecosystem report for Germany finds strong enterprise interest in AI and generative AI, which Microsoft is aggressively promoting in its cloud platforms. German organizations, which place high priorities on automation and efficiency, are beginning to adopt Microsoft's AI offerings but remain cautious about the return on digital investments under challenging macroeconomic conditions. 'Microsoft is surging forward in AI, and German enterprises want to benefit from its innovation,' said Dr. Matthias Paletta, ISG technology modernization solution lead, EMEA. 'Service providers with proven AI use cases and extensive experience are essential for successful implementations.' Companies in Germany are rapidly adopting Microsoft's Copilot GenAI chatbot within the Microsoft 365 cloud-based application suite, ISG says. They seek immediate productivity gains through more efficient business processes, though these implementations have shown mixed results so far. Many enterprises have yet to achieve meaningful Copilot solutions that generate significant value. Companies are also increasing their use of Azure OpenAI services to accelerate automation and innovation. German enterprises are increasingly interested in deploying AI agents within Microsoft 365, ISG says. However, most are still at an early stage, lacking basic information and clear use cases for such deployments. Many service providers in Germany are still unprepared to comprehensively support the use of these agents by their clients. Demand is also rising in Germany for Microsoft's Fabric, Foundry and Purview IT infrastructure platforms, ISG says. Among other benefits, Fabric allows organizations to integrate diverse data environments into a consistent infrastructure, while Foundry enables more complex data analysis and Purview provides a transparent governance layer. Companies are deploying the systems together for an integrated solution with high data security and efficient data utilization. Microsoft emphasizes that the platforms can substantially reduce regulatory risk, a promise that resonates with German customers. Despite strong demand for Microsoft platforms, many German companies are taking steps to control cloud costs, the report says. They are gradually adopting powerful FinOps approaches as AI services increase cloud and AI resource use. Enterprises are also concerned about Microsoft's complex pricing structures as macroeconomic uncertainty grows. 'Licensing is a significant pain point for companies in Germany and elsewhere,' said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader, ISG Provider Lens Research. 'Qualified service providers can help enterprises implement systems to understand and control licensing costs.' The report also explores other Microsoft ecosystem trends in Germany, including the growing popularity of multi-cloud environments and the possibility of capacity bottlenecks affecting cloud-based AI computing power. For more insights into the Microsoft-related challenges facing enterprises in Germany, plus ISG's advice for addressing those challenges, see the ISG Provider Lens™ Focal Points briefing here. Dermot Weld mulling Derby options for Purview
Having just his second outing, the Juddmonte-owned colt was last off the bridle before odds-on favourite Delacroix quickened away, with Purview taking second place ahead of a Group One winner in Tennessee Stud, beating him by four lengths. The choice now rests between whether to take on the winner again at Epsom, wait for the Irish Derby or stick at 10 furlongs for the French version. 'I was delighted with him for his first run of the year, and he hasn't run since last November,' said Weld. 'It was his first time on grass, and he won very easily on the Polytrack on his only run as a two-year-old. 'He has worked once on grass this year. At home the grass has been too firm, but he has been away once and worked very nicely over seven furlongs. 'This was only his second time on grass this year over 10 furlongs and I thought it was a lovely run by him. He switched off beautifully. 'He's a magnificent, big horse, he's 16.2 hands, and he won't be a horse until he develops into his big frame. 'I reckon the winner is a very high-class colt and you could see the class of his sire Dubawi the way he quickened. 'I'm very happy with my horse and the further he went, the better he went. That causes problems going forward to decide which route we go with him. 'I'll speak with Prince Khalid's family and with Barry Mahon (racing manager) before we make a decision. 'He has entries in the Derby at Epsom and the Curragh and also in France. 'I think there will be nice improvement to come.'
