Pyramids FC €2.5 mln bid for Darmstadt striker Lidberg rejected - Egyptian Football

Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC's €2.5 million offer for Swedish striker Isac Lidberg was rejected by German 2. Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98, according to a report by Sky Sport DE's Florian Plettenberg on Thursday. The bid, which included a 10 percent sell-on clause in favour of Darmstadt, marks the latest move by the ambitious Cairo-based club to bolster their squad following their maiden CAF Champions League triumph in April 2025. Lidberg, who joined Darmstadt in the summer of 2024, has emerged as a key asset for the "Lilien," with his aerial prowess and clinical finishing drawing interest from across the continent. The 23-year-old forward is reportedly considering the offer. Still, Darmstadt's sporting director, Paul Fernie, has signalled a firm stance, indicating negotiations will only resume for an "exceptional offer" exceeding the initial proposal. Pyramids FC have risen to prominence in recent years, finishing second in the Egyptian Premier League Championship play-offs in the 2024-25 season and defeating South African side Mamelodi Sundowns to claim their first CAF Champions League title. Why was Mayele's transfer to the Saudi Pro League blocked?

Is Mayele's move to Saudi Arabia off? Mayele / @ While his departure once seemed all but certain, Congolese striker Fiston Kalala Mayele may now end up staying with Pyramids FC for the upcoming season. Several media outlets, including Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shobier, had confirmed that Mayele had decided to leave the reigning CAF Champions League winners after receiving an enticing offer from a Saudi club competing in the Saudi Pro League (also known as the Roshn League). The same sources indicated that the player was eager to take on a new challenge, and that Pyramids management was not opposed to his departure despite his importance to the squad. Is Mayele's transfer to Saudi Arabia off? However, things have shifted in recent days. In a recent update, Shobier revealed that the deal had been unexpectedly halted due to disagreements among the agents involved in negotiations. The former Al-Ahly and Egypt national team goalkeeper added that Mayele had taken part as usual in Pyramids' preseason camp in Turkey, suggesting he may remain with the club. Although Mayele's name has also been linked with South African sides like Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, the Saudi offer remained the most attractive both financially and from a sporting perspective. With this latest setback, all scenarios remain on the table as we await further developments in the coming days.

Pyramids FC sign Brazilian winger Ewerton on four-year deal - Egyptian Football

Egyptian side Pyramids FC have signed Brazilian winger Ewerton Paixão da Silva from Czech club Baník Ostrava on a four-year contract; the club announced on Monday. The 28-year-old becomes the club's first signing of the summer as the African champions prepare for the new season, which kicks off on 9 August against newly promoted side Wadi Degla. Known simply as Ewerton, the winger is expected to fill the void left by Ibrahim Adel, who joined UAE side Al-Jazira earlier this month. Ewerton was previously linked with a move to Egyptian giants Ahly, who showed interest in January, but the deal fell through amid reports that Ostrava had set a $2.5 million price tag for the player. He scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in 34 appearances in all fronts last season. Pyramids FC are coming off a historic campaign in which they won their first CAF Champions League title and finished runners-up in both the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup. The club face a packed schedule this season, including domestic and continental competitions, as well as representing Africa at the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. They are set to face New Zealand's Auckland City on 14 December at Air Defense Stadium. Kaizer Chiefs news: New striker eyed as Mayele nears Saudi move

Kaizer Chiefs are keeping their striker hunt alive amid reports of Fiston Mayele's imminent exit from Pyramids FC and interest in a new target from Central Africa. The Congolese striker Mayele was a key figure in Pyramids' historic CAF Champions League triumph but looks set to leave after receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, according to Egyptian journalist Ahmed Shobeir. 'Mayele is determined to leave despite being a top scorer. Pyramids officials confirmed he's a strong candidate to depart this summer,' Shobeir said. With Mayele likely off the market, Chiefs' technical staff have shifted focus to alternatives. Cameroonian striker Ravel Djoumekou, 25, currently with FC Saint Eloi Lupopo in Congo, has been offered to the club. 'He is an experienced striker and could fill a vital role at Chiefs,' a source explained. 'The club's scouts are assessing him thoroughly before making a decision.' Kaizer Chiefs already signed six new players this offseason but acknowledge that an experienced striker is still needed to bolster the squad, especially ahead of CAF Confederation Cup challenges. Another insider added, 'The club is still evaluating players. Some are well known, others less so, but if this striker matches their standards, Chiefs will consider signing him.' Meanwhile, long-term target Fawaaz Basadien is reportedly attracting interest from Mamelodi Sundowns after missing training, signalling a possible transfer. As Chiefs prepare for the new season after a European pre-season campaign, they're focused on building a balanced squad under coach Nasreddine Nabi. The pressure is on for AmaKhosi to return to winning ways after recent underwhelming performances. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211.
