Commonwealth cruiser champion Aloys Junior takes aim at Viddal Riley
Newly crowned Commonwealth cruiserweight champion Aloys Junior has set his sights on the British title. Following his victory over David Jamieson at the weekend, Junior is shifting his aim towards a showdown with Viddal Riley. Speaking recently, Junior said that he was targeting the Tottenham man for a bout. Junior, 10-1 (9), made his comments to an interviewer from Queensberry Promotions for the firm's YouTube channel. Junior said: 'I want all the smoke. Whoever wants it can get it. If Vidal wants me, I'm here, baby. If Vidal Riley wants me, I am here, baby. If Vidal Riley wants me, I'm here.' He added: 'He will try to run away from me but I will ******* cut that ring off. He ain't going nowhere. I'll make sure of it.' Junior's fight against Jamieson, now 13-4 (10), ended after a knockdown in the third round that followed Jamieson going to the floor also in rounds one and two. Junior said that he wanted 'the world' and that his victory over Jamieson was just 'one step'. The only loss so far on Junior's record was a close one on points in his debut against the Pole Michal Soczynski at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. Soczynski, 10-0 (7), has so far remained undefeated and last fought also at the weekend at home in Kalisz, Poland when he stopped Cristian Norges Lopez Lopez in three rounds. Junior, meanwhile, has been on a ten-fight winning streak since, with his only fight going the distance being a points decision over the unbeaten Oronzo Birardi, also at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. A fight against Riley might make sense at this point in both his and Junior's careers. BoxRec lists Riley, 13-0 (7), as the second-best cruiserweight in Europe, with Junior at #4. Globally, the pair are respectively ranked at #20 and #27. Riley last fought in April when he won a twelve-round decision over Cheavon Clarke on the undercard of the fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn. Not included in any of the public callouts is Jack Massey, 22-3 (12), ranked #25 in the world and #3 in the UK. Massey last fought in October against Jai Opetaia in Riyadh, losing by stoppage in the sixth round. Also missing from the proclamations is Chris Billam-Smith, 21-2 (13) and the former WBO champion, who also fought on the undercard between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, winning a spirited twelve-round decision. Carlisle boxing star promises 'fireworks' in professional career
Carlisle boxing star John Joe Carrigan is promising 'fireworks' when he makes his professional debut. The teenager has signed with legendary promoter Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions. It sees the world under-19 champion from Border City Amateur Boxing Club join a host of high-profile fighters such as Tyson Fury in Warren's stable. And the 18-year-old Cumbrian is hoping his first fight since turning pro will come soon as he targets the next steps in his exciting career. 'There'll be fireworks, definitely. I can't wait for it,' said Carrigan, speaking to iFL TV. 'I can do just about everything. I'm a switch hitter, I've got power, I'm skilful. Frank Warren signs up teenage Carlisle boxing star 'Hopefully [my first fight will be] very soon. I have to get a medical done, get the boxing licence, get on a roll and hopefully then announce the date.' Carrigan, from Todhills, won a series of titles in his junior and youth amateur career. He won nine national titles, a string of box cups, two European titles and, last year, the World under-19 title in the 70kg category. Carrigan, whose skills have been honed at Carlisle club Border City since he was six, is now training at professional boxing stable Tenacity Boxing in the north east. And his impressive amateur career has led Warren to sign up the Cumbrian prospect. 'To be honest, in my eyes he's the best,' added Carrigan of Warren. 'When I was in the amateurs, [everyone] wanted to sign with him. 'To do that, it's a dream come true.' Carrigan is also on the lookout for sponsors to back his progress in the professional boxing scene. 'I've just turned professional and am still looking for sponsors – if there's anyone out there, get in contact,' he added. Warren has described Carrigan as a 'stellar amateur' and said that, in his professional career, 'people are going to like him.'

Delicious Orie RETIRES from boxing aged 27 after just ONE pro fight as he shares shock emotional 212-word statement
BOXER Delicious Orie has announced his shock retirement from the sport. The 27-year-old won gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth and 2023 European Games. His success in the amateurs saw him earn a spot for Team GB in the Pairs Olympics last year and he then signed for Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions. But after just one pro fight, which he won in February, the Moscow-born Brit has decided to end his career and focus on a new job. Orie explained his decision in a lengthy statement, which read: "After much reflection, I have decided to hang up my gloves and retire from boxing to follow up on my degree and enter the corporate world. "This sport has given me so much — incredible memories, unforgettable experiences travelling the world and many opportunities to represent my country at the biggest stages in the world. Forever grateful for the journey. "Over time, I've come to recognise that the same fire and love I once had for boxing has gradually faded. "As I've grown, I've come to value clarity and honesty with myself above all. "I hoped that turning professional would reignite the passion, but the truth has become clear: it hasn't. "Every fighter knows you need a deep love for the craft to reach the top - and without it, there's no path forward. "Out of respect for the sport and for myself, it's time to step away with honesty. "To everyone who supported me along the way — thank you. To my coaches, teammates, staff at GB Boxing and to those who stood by me through my (albeit brief) professional journey." He thanked STN Sports chiefs Sean O'Toole and Paul Ready, promoters Frank and George Warren, as well as Grant Smith and his team at Sheffield base Steel City Gym. Orie added: "Your belief, support and guidance meant the world." THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..

Frank Warren talks Anthony Cacace to face Shakur Stevenson
Promoter Frank Warren has hinted that he may pursue a fight between Anthony Cacace and Shakur Stevenson. The veteran head of Queensberry Promotions said that he would make the fight between Cacace, who defeated Leigh Wood in Nottingham last week, and Stevenson 'in a heartbeat'. Warren said: '[Cacace] would frighten the life out of him, I tell you.' The key to the Belfast fighter's recent successful run, said Warren, is that Cacace had chosen to knuckle down and work hard, rather than relying on his raw talent. Warren continued: 'Look at what he's done. He's met three former world champions and beaten them in style. He's a fabulous fighter. That was a sterling performance on Saturday in going into Leigh Wood's backyard.' He went on: 'It was a brilliant performance and he boxed so well. He should be proud of himself, because we certainly are at Queensberry.' Warren said that Cacace, 24-1 (9), would give Stevenson, 23-0 (11), 'a lot of problems', and that he thought the Belfast fighter would come through it. So confident in Cacace's abilities was Warren that he said he did not care whether a potential fight was held in the UK or US. Any fight between Cacace and Stevenson will have to remain on the backburner for now, however. The US-born fighter is currently scheduled to meet William Zepeda, 33-0 (27), at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, on 12 July. That event, which will feature a bout between Edgar Berlanga, 23-1 (18), and the UK-born Hamzah Sheeraz, 21-0-1 (17), will be shown live on DAZN. Stevenson last fought in February in Riyadh when he stopped Josh Padley in nine rounds. That followed a July match against Artem Harutyunyan in Newark, a match the US fighter won by unanimous decision. Warren was making his remarks at Portman Road football stadium, which will host the match between Fabio Wardley and Justis Huni on Saturday night in another event to be shown on DAZN. Warren said of Wardley: 'We believe in him. We believe in his ability. And he's a great ambassador for British boxing. He speaks very well, and he's very articulate. He's a good guy, and he comes across as a good guy. And, more importantly, he can fight.'

Who is Moses Itauma? Fight record, stats, next bout and more
Moses Itauma will return to the ring this weekend, taking on Mike Balogun at the OVO Hydro Arena on the Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman undercard. This will be the Brit's first fight in 2025 as he continues his rise through the heavyweight ranks. Itauma has become one of the most exciting prospects in boxing and is a name to be remembered - so here is everything you need to know about Britain's next heavyweight hope. Who is Moses Itauma? Moses Itauma, born in Slovakia in 2004, moved to the UK with his family when he was four and started boxing at the age of nine. His short-but-successful amateur career included winning three national titles, three European titles and one world championship. But the heavyweight had Mike Tyson's record as the youngest ever heavyweight champion in his sights - signing with Queensberry Promotions just after his eighteenth birthday. What is Moses Itauma's record? After the success of his amateur career, Itauma hit the ground running, winning his debut fight via knockout in 23 seconds at Wembley Arena in 2023. He fought a further six times that year, finishing with a record of 7-0 (5 KO's). Itauma fought again early in 2024, knocking out Dan Garber in one round before making the choice to change his trainer from Alan Smith to Ben Davison, the former coach behind Tyson Fury. Still just nineteen, the young prospect fought for the WBO intercontinental title, knocking out Ilja Mezencev in the second round in Saudi Arabia to mark the beginning of his partnership with Davison. Back on home soil in July of 2024, Itauma took on his toughest test in heavyweight gatekeeper, Mariusz Wach, who has shared the ring with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Dillian Whyte and Martin Bakole. He dispatched Wach in the second round to retain his WBO intercontinental title. Another knockout victory followed five months later, this time by stopping Dempsey McKean in the first round. Itauma ended the year with 11 wins, 0 losses and 9 knockouts. Aside from two early points decisions, none of the Brit's opponents have survived to see the second round. He is ranked in the top ten with three out of the big four organisations – number two with the WBO, number three with the WBA and number seven with the IBF. Total fights: 11 Wins: 11 Losses: 0 Knockouts: 9 Rounds: 23 When is Moses Itauma's next fight? Itauma will enter the squared circle this weekend to fight Mike Balogun at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow on the Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman undercard. Balogun, 21-1 (16), has some noticeable names on his record. He lost by knockout in ten rounds to former cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev in Armenia. He also stopped Trey Lippe, the son of former champion Tommy Morrison, in one round in New york in 2021.
