Norton man plans to help his kids with 'Lucky for Life' winnings

DORCHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Norton is the winner of a $25,000 a year for life prize in the multi-state 'Lucky for Life' game. Fall River woman wins $1 million on 'Emerald Mine 50X' scratch ticket Leonard Portanova of Norton's Quic Pic ticket matched the five numbers selected in the March 7th drawing. He claimed his prize on March 10th and chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $390,000, before taxes. When asked what he was going to do with his winnings, Portanova said he planned to help his kids with the winnings. The ticket was purchased at Quick Stop Shop at 250 East Main Street in Norton, which will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. 'Lucky for Life' winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their winnings. Massachusetts State Lottery prizes that expire then become part of the net profit that the Lottery returns to the Commonwealth for distribution to all 351 cities and towns. The drawings are conducted seven nights a week. NORTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A Norton man is now nearly $400,000 richer. The Massachusetts State Lottery announced Tuesday that Leonard Portanova won the $25,000 a year for life prize in the Lucky for Life game after his first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the March 7 drawing. Portanova, who claimed his prize Monday, chose to instead receive a one-time cash payment of $390,000 before taxes, as opposed to the annuitized option. He told the Massachusetts State Lottery that he plans on using his winnings to financially assist his kids. Portanova purchased the winning ticket at the Quick Stop Shop off East Main Street in Norton. The store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling that ticket.
