Kaizer Chiefs squad valuation: Most valuable Amkhosi players wouldn't crack Mamelodi Sundowns top-15

File. Kaizer Chiefs' current squad valuation reveals that their top players, including Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango, and Siphesihle Ndlovu, are valued at R18.59 million each, significantly lower than Mamelodi Sundowns' top-15, as the club aims to bolster its roster with more top talent. Picture: Itumeleng English/Independent Media Image: Itumeleng English/Independent Media With Kaizer Chiefs promising to sign more top players in the coming months, it's surprising to see which players in the current squad have the highest value. According to the highest value players in the squad are defenders Reeve Frosler, Spiwe Msimango and midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu. Each player is valued at approximately R18.59 million. For comparison, that trio wouldn't crack the top-15 most valuable players in the current Mamelodi Sundowns squad. The most valuable player in the Sundowns squad is Lucas Ribeiro at R51.54 million. In fact, the total squad value of Chiefs is around R303 million. That's less than half of that of Sundowns' whose squad worth stands at a whopping R744 million. Meanwhile, the pair of forwards Ashley du Preez and defender Thabiso Monyane are tied as the fourth most valuable players in the Chiefs squad with a price tag of R17.55 million. The 21-year-old midfielder Mduduzi Shabalala is the youngest player in the top-10 most valuable players with a worth of R14.46 million. Defenders Bradley Cross and Rishwin Dortley are worth the same at R13.42 million. Centre-back Inacio Miguel and left winger Pule Mmodi complete the top-10 with values of R12.38 million each. Mmodi is also the oldest player in the Chiefs top-10 at 32.

Mamelodi Sundowns poised for another dominant season

Mamelodi Sundowns, one of Africa's wealthiest football clubs, boasts a squad valued at R744 million, with Lucas Ribeiro leading at R51.54 million, while star keeper Ronwen Williams is not among the top 10, and the team recently earned R228 million from the FIFA Club World Cup. Picture: Federico Parra/AFP Mamelodi Sundowns will enter the 2025/26 Premiership season with their sights set on an unprecedented ninth consecutive league title. Their recent showing at the FIFA Club World Cup further highlighted the gulf in class between them and the rest of the domestic competition. While most teams have spent the off-season preparing for the upcoming campaign, the Brazilians had their schedule extended by international commitments. Their participation in the expanded Club World Cup saw them go toe-to-toe with some of the world's elite, leaving them with limited time to rest before turning their focus back to local matters. That short turnaround could be a blessing in disguise. For a squad used to juggling multiple competitions throughout the season, a brief break may be just enough to recharge without losing sharpness. It might even give them a competitive edge heading into the opening weeks. There hasn't been a flurry of incoming transfer activity at Chloorkop, but with the depth and quality already in the squad, it was hardly necessary. The core group that powered them to glory last season remains intact. That continuity offers stability at a time when many of their rivals are rebuilding and integrating new faces.

Mamelodi Sundowns squad valuation: Ronwen Williams not among top 10 most valuable players

Picture: Federico Parra/AFP It's no secret that Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the richest football clubs on the continent, but their actual squad value makes for some interesting reading. For example, valued at R18.55 million according to star goalkeeper Ronwen Williams doesn't crack the top-15 most valuable players in the Sundowns squad. Top of the list in terms of market value is striker Lucas Ribeiro. The Brazilian is apparently worth a whopping R51.54 million. Cape Town-born Iqraam Rayners comes in at number two with a market value of R49.48 million. The 29-year-old forward, however, is the most valuable South African in the star-studded Sundowns lineup.
