Could 'secret weapon' help Man United beat Arsenal to signing of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko?
Manchester United reportedly hope to rival Arsenal this summer for the signature of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenia international is hot property right now after scoring 39 goals in two seasons in the German Bundesliga. Arsenal are widely believed to be his most likely destination this summer, with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta desperate to add a prolific goalscorer to his squad. However, journalist Christian Falk, who is the head of football at BILD, tweeted on Saturday morning: ' Man Utd have secret weapon in bid to steal Benjamin Sesko from Arsenal'. Falk also shared a link to an article by CaughtOffside in which he is quoted as saying of Sesko: 'There are already talks with Arsenal. 'From the Premier League, beside Arsenal also Manchester United are particularly interested. Christopher Vivell was there to watch Sesko at the game in Wolfsburg in mid-April. He once helped discover him and brought the footballer to Salzburg as a 16-year-old in 2019.' Vivell is United's director of recruitment, having committed to the job on a permanent basis in February following an interim spell in the role. He previously worked at Chelsea and RB Leipzig, but it was during his time at RB Salzburg that he first signed Sesko, in 2019 when the striker arrived from Domzale. Sesko netted 21 goals in 55 Austrian Bundesliga games for Salzburg before moving to Leipzig in July 2023. The 22-year-old, who has 16 goals in 41 appearances at senior international level, is now valued at £92.5m, according to a recent report by The Telegraph. United, having missed out on Champions League qualification after losing to Tottenham in last week's Europa League final, will need to sell multiple players in order to be able to afford Leipzig's current asking price. Bruno Fernandes is United's most valuable asset and has serious interest from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. United would rather not sell Fernandes but are willing to entertain offers for several first-team players, including Alejandro Garnacho. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are also for sale this summer, having spent the 2024-25 season on loan away from Old Trafford.

Spurs release 13 players & complete £21m transfer as Postecoglou awaits decision
Timo Werner will not be joining Spurs permanently with the club turning down an option to sign him for £8.5m at expiration of their loan agreement with RB Leipzig Tottenham have decided against signing misfit forward Timo Werner after confirming his return to RB Leipzig - but a £21m deal to sign Austria international Kevin Danso will be formally completed on Sunday. Spurs had an option to buy the Germany international for £8.5m at the end of his loan but that has not been taken up with the Europa League winners naming him as one of six senior players departing the club. Werner, 29, did not score a goal in 18 league appearances this season and missed a large chunk of the campaign with a hamstring injury. He departs with three goals in all competitions across 41 appearances in a season and a half. Goalkeepers Fraser Forster, 37, and Alfie Whiteman, 26, are both being released at the end of their contracts this month, while left back Sergio Reguilon, 28, will also become a free agent. Forster joined Spurs in the summer of 2022 following several years at Southampton and featured in the early stages of their Europa League triumph. Academy graduate Whiteman made just a single first-team appearance, while Reguilon leaves after a five-year stint that saw him make loan moves to Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford. Welsh defender Ben Davies is also out of contract on June 30 but may still sign a new deal amid interest from Championship new boys Wrexham, while the future of Mathys Tel remains unclear. He signed on loan from Bayern Munich in January and that included an option to buy the France U21 forward for £50m. Tottenham have also said Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's loan to Marseille will become a permanent switch. Danso's loan from RC Lens will be converted into a permanent stay in north London, to the tune of £21m as per the terms of his loan deal. The 26-year-old made 10 Premier League appearances last season and came on as a late substitute as Spurs defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final. Man Utd ‘could hijack Arsenal's Sesko transfer thanks to secret weapon' as Gunners open talks for RB Leipzig star
MANCHESTER UNITED could hijack Arsenal's transfer deal for Benjamin Sesko, reports suggest. Sesko, 22, scored 21 goals and added six assists in all competitions for German club RB Leipzig this season. 4 4 4 And the 6ft 5" ace has been identified by Arsenal 's recruitment team as one of their top targets as they look to add a striker during the summer window. According to Bild's Head of Football, Christian Falk, the Gunners are already in talks to try and strike a deal which could climb to as high as £85million. However, Falk indicates that Arsenal will not be allowed to complete the move without competition. That rival comes in the form of Man Utd, who are also looking to land a new forward. But Man Utd are said to have a secret weapon in trying to convince the Slovenian about a deal. The weapon in question is their director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell. Sesko was personally watched by Vivell back in April, with Sun Sport revealing how he had a "gentleman's agreement" with Leipzig to leave for around £60m if a top club tables an offer. Vivell has already brought Sesko once before, bringing him to RB Salzburg as a 16-year-old in 2019. Since arriving in Germany he has netted 39 goals and added eight assists in 87 games. Reports elsewhere claim Man Utd boss Ruben Amorim has told Vivell to sign him another attacking midfielder after Matheus Cunha, who is set to join the club in a £62.5m deal from Wolves. That has sparked rumours of them pursuing a deal to land 20-goal Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, who has an estimated asking price of £50m.

Ange Postecoglou makes decision on ex-Celtic keeper Forster
The 37-year-old's contract at the North London club will not be renewed this summer after a player update was recently provided. "We can confirm the departures of Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon and Alfie Whiteman following the conclusion of their contracts, while Timo Werner departs following the conclusion of his loan spell from RB Leipzig," a Spurs statement read. Read more: "We thank Fraser, Sergio, Alfie and Timo for their service and wish them well for the future." Forster joined Spurs on a free transfer from Southampton in 2022. He has predominantly been a backup goalkeeper for the side. Ex-Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has kept the Englishman around for his spell in charge up to this point, with Forster picking up a Europa League winners' medal when Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final last week. He will now move on to pastures new after making 34 appearances in dark blue and white. In other news, Luke McCowan says it was all about giving Jota a hug after discovering his painful injury news. The winger was ruled out for six to nine months after sustaining a knee issue at Tannadice in April. "When Jota was told about the nature of the injury, it was just about giving him a big hug," said McCowan. 'Regardless of how long it is, if it's long, if it's shorter than what it is, you just know he's a very important player for us. "We'll keep ensuring his mental state is always in the right place. "He's a good and big character for us as well. He's a very lively, influential person. "Even in the game when he got his injury, the first question he asked when the boys came in at half-time was, 'It's definitely my goal, isn't it?'. "So I don't think he was that worried about his knee at that point. But he's been a top player for this club and I'm sure he will be in future."
