RGIII says quiet part out loud about Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers

RGIII says quiet part out loud about Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers Aaron Rodgers is a Pittsburgh Steeler — but that likely didn't change the recent 'standard' of mediocrity. For far too long, the Steelers have accepted first-round exits in the playoffs as long as HC Mike Tomlin achieves his winning season — and Robert Griffin III believes the Rodgers acquisition does nothing to alleviate these concerns. RGIII argued on social media that despite the Steelers likely having a mediocre winning record either way, starting Mason Rudolph or Will Howard over Rodgers may have been the way to go: "The Pittsburgh Steelers flipped the script on the narrative for their season by signing Aaron Rodgers. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Mason Rudolph or Will Howard at QB = Amazing job. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Aaron Rodgers at QB = Fans calling for changes." Griffin hit the nail right on the head — as Tomlin was praised for taking the Big Ben-less, Devlin 'Duck' Hodges/Rudolph-led Steelers to an 8-8 record in 2019, but was criticized heavily for last year's 10-7 record under Russell Wilson at QB. It's unlikely Steelers President Art Rooney II would pull the plug on Pittsburgh's head coach anytime soon — but no one can deny Tomlin now has sky-high expectations heading into the season. 'I didn't insult or attack her,' Ryan Clark states acknowledging misstep in explosive RGIII feud

Ryan Clark's apology to RGIII (Image via Getty) Ryan Clark's apology to RGIII shows how it's possible to keep in check two opposing forces in sports, being passionate and respecting one another. Sparked by RGIII's critique of Angel Reese, Clark responded by invoking RGIII's marriage to a white woman, using it to challenge his understanding of Black women's experiences. While Clark clarified that his intent wasn't to insult RGIII's wife, he later admitted that mentioning her was unnecessary and uncalled for. After backlash, Ryan Clark admits his comments crossed a personal line and apologizes publicly After facing backlash for involving RGIII's wife in a public debate, Ryan Clark took a step back to reassess his words. He acknowledged that his approach may have crossed a personal line. 'She didn't need to be made an example of in order to make my point.' He went on to acknowledge the underlying motivation, 'The optics of his video & personal history with RGIII played a part in how I addressed him. I didn't insult or attack her, but no matter the intent… the impact was different.' Stephen A. Smith calls out critics who want ESPN to fire Ryan Clark over RG3 wife comments

Stephen A. Smith said his ESPN colleague Ryan Clark 'crossed the line' by involving Robert Griffin III's wife in their public feud, however, he didn't think it was 'a fireable offense.' What started as Clark and Griffin, a Fox Sports analyst, sharing their takes about the confrontation between WNBA stars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark during the Fever-Sky game on Saturday, quickly snowballed into a fiery back-and-forth that spilled into their personal lives. During Wednesday's installment of his self-titled YouTube show, Smith explained that he didn't condone that Clark brought up 'both of Griffin's marriages.' 'I don't want to hear s–t about Ryan Clark getting fired,' Smith said. 'I don't want to hear that. Ryan Clark is my colleague, he is my friend and brother. He is a good man and he's a good brother. And there is no way on earth that I would be quiet if he was fired over something like this. 3 Stephen A. Smith weighed in on the public feud between his ESPN colleague Ryan Clark and Fox Sports analyst Robert Griffin III. YouTube/Stephen A. Smith 'I'm not saying he's right, and I'll get into that in a second. But this is not a fireable offense… I don't usually talk about ESPN business. And I'm not going to right now. Other than to say, RGIII clearly is not liked by Ryan Clark. What Ryan Clark said — that's not something he normally does. 'Corny, phony,' those are the kinds of things he said specifically about RGIII. That's what he feels.' Some called for ESPN to fire Clark over his remarks about race and Griffin's wife Grete, who is white. Griffin and Clark, both of whom are black, were NFL teammates with Washington in 2014. Griffin's ex-wife Rebeca Liddicoat is white. 3 ESPN's Ryan Clark said Robert Griffin was one of the worst teammates he's ever had on the field and on TV. X/The Pivot 'I love my man RC,' Smith continued. 'I thought he crossed the line when he brought up you, RGIII, being married, not once, but twice to white women. There was no need to go there. But he don't like your ass. That might have had something to do with it. 'I'm not condoning him doing that. I'm not condoning him bringing that up. If RC and I had spoke about it in-depth, I would have told him, 'Don't go there. There's no need for all of that.'' Smith was referring to Clark bringing up Griffin's two marriages 'to white women.' Griffin and Liddicoat divorced in 2016 after being married for three years. The former NFL quarterback and Grete tied the knot in 2018 and have four daughters together. 3 Fox Sports analyst Robert Griffin III said ESPN's Ryan Clark made things personal by mentioning his wife, Grete. X/RG3 Smith explained that he disagreed with Griffin's accusation that Clark launched an attack on his family. 'But I want to emphasize something very important. RGIII, he never attacked your wife. He never attacked your family. He was attacking you, and you know it,' Smith said. 'Now, that don't make it correct, the mentioning of your wife. I'll concede that. He didn't utter a negative syllable about your wife. He never mentioned your children. So when you say (he was) attacking your wife and attacking your family, your children. How did he do that? Ryan Clark did not do that. 'He talked about you and your behavior. He talked about how you lean towards highlighting her ethnicity. I don't know whether that's true or not. I pay no attention to that stuff. But I know what he said. And he was saying she was much more than the color of her skin. He did in no way denigrate your wife and he never mentioned your children.' Griffin and Clark stood by their remarks and things seemingly fizzled out in the public eye, but not until after many scrutinized the pair for making things personal instead of discussing the Fever-Sky game.

NFL permits players to play flag football at 2028 Olympics Show Caption Hide Caption RGIII breaks down his all NFL player flag football roster Robert Griffin III explains how flag football differs from typical football, and who in the NFL would play for his flag football team. Sports Seriously Flag football is coming to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles – and NFL players can participate. NFL owners voted to permit players to play in flag football at the Los Angeles Games, during a vote at the spring league meeting. The ratification required at least 24 out of 32 NFL owners to vote in favor of allowing players to participate in flag football. 'The membership believes that participation by NFL Players in flag football during the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California will support such growth and advance several League interests, including increasing fan and public interest in flag football, expanding the global reach of the NFL, and providing greater opportunities for fan engagement and for our League partners,' a resolution stated last week. Flag football will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee announced in October 2023 that flag football would be included on the 2028 Olympics sports program. Rules for NFL players to participate in flag football include: Players must be under an NFL contract to try out for a flag football team. No more than one NFL Player from each NFL team can participate in the 2028 Olympics. 'Appropriate injury protection' for any NFL Player who is injured while participating Flag football schedule and events don't conflict with an NFL player's NFL and team commitments. Olympic flag football will be held at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The 22,000-seat soccer stadium is adjacent to the LA Memorial Coliseum.

Robert Griffin III Claps Back At Ryan Clark Following Comments About His Love For 'Milk' aka White Women

Source: Getty Images / Ryan Clark / Robert Griffin III Robert Griffin III was not feeling what Ryan Clark had to say about his marriages to white women. Fox Sports analyst Robert Griffin III had time for ESPN NFL analyst Ryan Clark after the latter called him out on Monday's recent episode of The Pivot . Clark didn't mince words when talking RGIII's ridiculous hot take following the altercation between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese during Saturday's matchup between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. In his defense of Reese, a Black woman, Clark made sure to point out Robert Griffin III's love of milk, aka his marriages to two white women. 'When RG3 jumps onto the hate train or the angry train, it now follows what we saw from Keith Olbermann, what we saw from Dave Portnoy, as they poured onto Angel Reese to make her the villain, and Caitlin Clark heroic or hero story,' Clark said. 'The one thing we know about RG3 is he's not having conversations at his home about what Black women have to endure in this country. About what young Black women and athletes like Angel Reese have had to deal with, being on the opposite side of Caitlin Clark's rise and ascension into stardom. 'If you're RG3, when is the last time within your household you've had a conversation about what [Angel Reese is] dealing with?' Clark continued. 'You haven't been able to do that because in both of your marriages, you've been married to white women.' RGIII didn't appreciate those comments and used his platform to respond to Clark, writing in the caption for the post on X, 'There's a line you don't cross in life, and Ryan Clark sprinted past it. Following RGIII's long video response, Ryan Clark immediately responded, calling his former colleague 'corny' and a 'bad teammate,' pretty much confirming there has been some longtime bad blood between the two former NFL players Bruh you know what it is with me and you! I saved you the entire season on MNF. I urged people to let you be you. No matter how corny, how bad a teammate you were I had your back. What did you do? Invite someone on your show you know I don't fool with to ask questions about me, and then hit me weeks later to tell me you're gonna challenge one of my takes! You're a phony bro. One of the worst teammates I ever had both on the field and in TV. You gotta do what you gotta do. Bruh. Social media has pulled up a seat for the shenanigans; you can see those reactions in the gallery below.
