24 Tuaran homes gutted

The 3.30pm fire was brought under control nearly two hours later with authorities confirming no injuries or fatalities. The Tuaran District Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 3.34pm, prompting an immediate response from 24 firefighters, including reinforcements from Kota Kinabalu and Putatan. Three fire engines were deployed to the scene. Firefighters managed to prevent the flames from spreading further, but not before 23 semi-permanent houses were gutted. One additional home was 50 per cent destroyed and a vehicle was also consumed by the fire. Authorities, police, Civil Defence Force and Sabah Electricity assisted in the operation. Water tankers from the Water Department were also utilised to combat the flames. 24 homes damaged in Tuaran village fire

The 3.30pm blaze did not result in any injuries or loss of life, according to Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohammad Nor Amit. A total of 24 personnel from Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu and Putatan fire stations responded with three engines following an emergency call at 3.34pm. Twenty-three semi-permanent homes were destroyed while one was partially damaged, along with a vehicle, before the fire was brought under control at 5.15pm. Couple killed in Kota Belud fire

KOTA BELUD: A married couple was found burnt to death in a house fire at Kampung Sangkir, here, early Thursday. The victims were discovered in the bathroom of the single-storey house, which was completely destroyed. Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief, Assistant Fire Supt Elge Bakuk, said they received a distress call at 2.52am. 'A team of 10 firefighters, along with one fire engine and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, was dispatched to the scene. 'Upon arrival, the house was already engulfed in flames. A sedan car, believed to be a Proton Saga, was also destroyed in the fire,' he said. After the fire was brought under control at 3.22am, firefighters discovered the charred remains of the husband and wife in the bathroom. Elge said the operation used one water line with two hoses, drawing water from the fire engine. 'The bodies were handed over to the police for further action, including a post-mortem at the Kota Belud Hospital Forensic Unit,' he added. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The operation ended at 4.55am after ensuring the area was safe and free of other hazards. Early morning blaze claims two lives in KB

Firefighters discovered the two victims in the bathroom of the single-storey house, which was completely destroyed along with a Proton Saga parked nearby. District Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said his team received the emergency call at 2.52am and arrived shortly after with 10 personnel and two vehicles. The fire was brought under control by 3.22am, and the bodies were handed over to police for post-mortem at the Kota Belud Hospital. Six men nabbed in Kota Belud brawl over football

KOTA BELUD: Police arrested six men in connection with a brawl that broke out during a football match at Padang Dudan, Kampung Piasau, which was shared widely on social media, last Sunday. The suspects, aged between 24 and 42, were detained at around 12.10am Monday to assist in the investigation. Kota Belud District Police Chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said the police received a report regarding the incident at about 4.30pm. 'Preliminary investigations revealed the fight occurred during an ongoing football match, involving supporters from both teams. 'All six men were detained, and investigations are being carried out under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting and disturbing public peace,' he said. Shahrudin advised the public not to speculate about the incident as it could disrupt the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to come forward to the Kota Belud District Police Headquarters or contact Investigating Officer Inspector Christina Edris at 014-3574148. The videos, 49 seconds and 19 seconds long, were widely circulated on WhatsApp and Facebook.
