Suarez hits 32nd and 33rd homers as Diamondbacks rout Cardinals 10-1

Associated Press PHOENIX (AP) — Eugenio Suarez homered twice, Corbin Carroll had two triples and the Arizona Diamondbacks cruised to a 10-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. Suárez has five multi-homer games this season, including a four-homer night April 26. Carroll leads the big leagues with 12 triples. The 34-year-old Suárez is in an intriguing spot as the trade deadline approaches. The All-Star third baseman has 33 homers and is arguably the best power bat on the market, but it's unclear if the D-backs will be buyers or sellers considering their 49-50 record is still on the fringe of the National League playoff race. Suarez's 18 homers since June 1 are the most in the big leagues. D-backs righty Ryne Nelson (6-2) had a quality start, giving up one run on four hits over six innings. The D-backs jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after Carroll hit a leadoff triple and Geraldo Perdomo brought him home with a single. Josh Naylor reached on catcher's interference with two outs and Suarez followed with a long two-run homer to left field. Arizona pushed the advantage to 5-0 in the second after Blaze Alexander and Perdomo hit RBI singles. Suarez went deep again in the third with a solo shot to right center. St. Louis right-hander Sonny Gray (9-4) gave up a season-high nine runs, including eight earned, over 3 1/3 innings. He gave up 11 hits and struck out five. Alec Burleson hit a solo homer in the sixth for the Cardinals, who have lost 10 of their past 14 games. Key moment Carroll's leadoff triple was a harbinger of the offensive onslaught that was coming. Key stat The Diamondbacks scored at least one run in each of the first four innings. Up next The Cardinals will throw RHP Miles Mikolas (5-6, 4.94 ERA), while the D-backs counter with RHP Merrill Kelly (8-5, 3.34) in the series finale Sunday. ___ AP MLB: recommended Item 1 of 1

JSW Cement to Hit Markets in August with ₹4,000cr IPO at ₹20,000cr valuation

MUMBAI : After finishing a slew of meetings with institutional investors in road shows, JSW Cement has finalized plans to launch its ₹4,000-crore initial public offering (IPO) in the first week of August, two people with knowledge of the development said. The company will file an updated red herring prospectus (RHP) with the market regulator by this month-end, the people added on the condition of anonymity. It had filed a draft RHP (DRHP) last August. 'The company's cement capacity stands at more than 20 million tonnes, and based on feedback from investors and bankers, it is likely to target a valuation of around ₹18,000-20,000 crore," one of the persons cited above said. Domestic and global investment banks such as JM Financial, Axis Capital, Jefferies India, Citigroup Global Markets India, DAM Capital, Goldman Sachs India, Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, and SBI Caps have been mandated to help the company with the IPO raise. As per the DRHP filed in August with market regulator Sebi (Securities and Exchange Board of India), JSW Cement's IPO will see a combination of fresh issue and offer for sale or OFS. Half of the ₹4,000-crore target will be through issue of fresh shares. Another ₹2,000 crore is planned through the OFS component, in which existing investors AP Asia Opportunistic Holding, Synergy Metals, and SBI are likely to participate. AP Asia Opportunistic Holdings Pte. Ltd and Synergy Metals Investments Holding Ltd are set to sell shares worth ₹937.5 crore each, while State Bank of India (SBI) plans to divest shares valued at ₹125 crore. Emailed queries to JSW Cement did not elicit any response till press time. The company has stated that it will use the fresh proceeds to fund a new integrated cement unit in Nagaur, Rajasthan, repay select borrowings, and also for general corporate purposes. Having started operations in 2009, JSW Cement is India's fastest-growing cement company by capacity addition. With 20 million tonnes (MT) of capacity, it currently ranks among the top 10 cement manufacturers in the country in terms of installed capacity. Its existing facilities are located in Vijayanagar (Karnataka), Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh), Salboni (West Bengal), Jajpur (Odisha), and Dolvi (Maharashtra). Additionally, it operates a clinker unit in Odisha through its subsidiary Shiva Cement. JSW Cement is part of the Sajjan Jindal-promoted JSW Group, which has businesses ranging from steel, energy, infrastructure, defence to automotive, e-commerce, realty, paints and sports. JSW Cement's consolidated revenues stood at ₹6,114.59 crore as on 31 March 2024, up from ₹5,982.20 crore in FY23, according to data from its DRHP. However, its profit after tax fell to ₹62 crore from ₹104.03 crore over the same period. The Indian cement market is the second-largest globally and is experiencing significant growth, driven by infrastructure development and urbanization. The market is projected to reach 5.99 billion tonnes by FY32, exhibiting a CAGR (compounded annual growth rate) of 4.7% during FY24-FY32, according to Indian Brand Equity Foundation or IBEF. Key players include UltraTech Cement, Ambuja Cements, ACC, and JSW Cement, among others.

The Yankees are among teams in the mix for strong veteran starter

Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that the New York Yankees are among teams showing interest in veteran RHP Mitch Keller. The Pittsburgh Pirates are out of the mix and intend on selling at the trade deadline, with Keller being among the many veteran pieces they have to deal for prospects. Keller has a 3.48 ERA and 3.33 FIP across 20 starts, pitching to contact and relying on elite command to get outs at this stage of his career. He sports a four-seamer, sinker, slider, sweeper, curveball, and changeup, sporting one of the deepest repertoires in the entire sport. Owed money beyond 2025, Keller would serve as a multi-year reinforcement for the Bronx Bombers and their rotation, which has been decimated by injuries. Yankees Showing Interest In Acquiring Mitch Keller At the Deadline Mitch Keller has been one of the top starters in the National League this season, sporting a strong 3.48 ERA with 119 innings pitched in 20 starts. An ironman for the Pirates' rotation, Keller is fifth in MLB in innings pitched since 2023 (491.1 IP), profiling as a number three starter with some upside. The Yankees could make Keller even better with some tweaks, and some in the organization believe there's more to unlock in the veteran right-hander. Pittsburgh and New York are familiar trade partners, with the Pirates sending over pitchers Clay Holmes and Jameson Taillon in recent years. READ MORE: Among starting pitchers, Mitch Keller is 18th in fWAR and 20th in FIP, sporting a strong groundball rate and just a 0.68 HR/9 as a result of elite damage prevention. His fastball velocity has come down a bit from recent years, but Keller still intrigues some forward-thinking organizations because of his lower arm angle and wide array of pitches. Furthermore, Mitch Keller is under contract for three more seasons after 2025, meaning the team acquiring him will have him for 3.5 total seasons. The re-adjusted AAV will be between $17-18 million towards the Luxury Tax, which is certainly manageable for a team, and the Yankees could use some pitching help this deadline. Both the Cubs and Mets are also in the mix, and the Yankees will have to fend off some fierce contenders with strong farm systems to improve their rotation this deadline. What to know about Red Sox on Day 2 of the MLB Draft, list of picks

It's Day 2 of the 2025 MLB Draft as the Boston Red Sox return in hopes of building on what's been viewed as a positive Day 1. The Red Sox picked four college players — pitchers Kyson Witherspoon (Oklahoma), Marcus Phllips (Tennessee) and Anthony Eyanson (LSU) as well as Virginia middle infielder Henry Godbout — on Day 1. Day 2 of the draft is a big one as we go through rounds 4-20. The Red Sox start off with pick No. 118 overall in Round 4 and finish with pick No. 598 overall in Round 20. Keep it here for live updates of every Red Sox pick on Day 2. Full list of Red Sox Day 2 picks: ROUND 4 (No. 118): Mason White, SS, Arizona – The junior infielder was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team and was a Second-Team All-American by Perfect Game. ROUND 5 (No. 148): Christian Foutch, RHP, Arkansas – That's a fourth right-handed pitcher from the SEC for the Red Sox in this draft. Foutch has a monster fastball that is up in the 98-100 MPH range. ROUND 6 (No. 178): Leighton Finley, RHP, Georgia — Finley is huge (think 6-foot-5, 225 lbs.) and like basically everyone else the Red Sox have drafted this year, has SEC pedigree. His 2025 numbers (4.85 ERA) didn't stand out. Finley wasn't ranked as a highly-touted draft prospect so he's likely a below-slot sign. ROUND 7 (No. 208): Myles Patton, LHP, Texas A&M — You guessed it: Another SEC arm. This one is of the left-handed variety. Patton spent two years at Long Beach State before transferring to A&M, where he struggled to a 5.26 ERA. ROUND 8 (No. 238): Dylan Brown, LHP, Old Dominion — Another big pitcher from the college ranks, this time from a smaller school. Brown is 6-foot-5 and 230 lbs. but somewhat surprisingly, not a power guy. He's more crafty than anything, per scouting reports. ROUND 9 (No. 268): Jacob Mayers, RHP, LSU — A college teammate of fourth-rounder Anthony Eyanson, Mayers can hit 102 mph. The Nicholls transfer helped LSU win a College World Series title this year but was pushed down the depth chart on a talented Tigers team. ROUND 10 (No. 298): ROUND 11(No. 328): ROUND 12 (No. 358): ROUND 13 (No. 388): ROUND 14 (No. 418): ROUND 15 (No. 448): ROUND 16 (No. 478): ROUND 17 (No. 508): ROUND 18 (No. 538): ROUND 19 (No. 568): ROUND 20 (No. 598): *** Day 1 (Rounds 1-3) Recap: Here's a recap of who the Red Sox took on Day 1 of the MLB Draft: No. 15 overall: Kyson Witherspoon, RHP, Oklahoma No. 33 overall: Marcus Phillips, RHP, Tennessee No. 75 overall: Henry Godbout, 2B/SS, Virginia No. 87 overall: Anthony Eyanson, RHP, LSU More Red Sox coverage What they're saying nationally after Red Sox snag MLB Draft's 'top-ranked righty' A sweet ambush: Fred Lynn and Jim Rice's bond still gold 50 years after 1975 Red Sox pennant Red Sox draft College World Series champion pitcher with their fourth pick of night Red Sox draft UVA infielder with third pick at No. 75 overall Who's Kyson Witherspoon, Red Sox first round pick?
