Lakers make flurry of moves before training camp

The post Lakers make flurry of moves before training camp appeared first on ClutchPoints. In preparation for the 2025 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers have been actively fine-tuning their roster, making a flurry of moves ahead of training camp. Among their latest decisions, the team signed four emerging prospects —RJ Davis, Eric Dixon, Arthur Kaluma, and Augustas Marciulionis —to Exhibit 10 contracts. These deals are typically used to bring young talent into training camp with the potential to develop further within the organization, often leading to G League opportunities or two-way contracts. RJ Davis headlines the group. The 6-foot guard spent five seasons at the University of North Carolina (2020–25), where he appeared in 175 games (155 starts) and averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game over his collegiate career. In his final season, he averaged 17.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists across 37 games, earning All-ACC Second Team honors. In 2024, Davis was named ACC Player of the Year and received the prestigious Jerry West Award as the nation's top shooting guard. Davis also played in the 2025 Summer League for the Lakers, averaging 8.0 points per game in Las Vegas, including a 17-point performance in the finale against the Denver Nuggets. Eric Dixon, a 6-foot-8 forward from Villanova, arrives after a dominant 2024–25 season in which he led the NCAA with 23.3 points per game. He added 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest while shooting 45.1% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc. Dixon ended his collegiate career as Villanova's all-time leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points and 5.6 rebounds over 162 games (141 starts). Though initially reported to have signed a two-way deal with the Lakers, an undisclosed leg injury sidelined him during Summer League and left the contract unfinalized. Nonetheless, Dixon is a strong candidate for the Lakers' third and final two-way contract, with the other two already awarded to Christian Koloko and Chris Mańon. Arthur Kaluma, a 6-foot-7 forward, brings versatility after playing four collegiate seasons across Creighton, Kansas State, and Texas. In his final year at Texas (2024–25), he averaged 12.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 29.3 minutes per game. Across 134 total games (131 starts), Kaluma averaged 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds. Kaluma participated in the 2025 Summer League, logging 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game over four appearances. Augustas Marciulionis, a 6-foot-4 Lithuanian guard, completed four seasons at Saint Mary's College (2021–25), where he was a back-to-back WCC Player of the Year (2024, 2025). In his final season, he averaged 14.2 points, 5.9 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 34.8 minutes across 35 games. Overall, Marciulionis posted career averages of 8.9 points and 3.7 assists over 138 games. Although he was unable to participate in the Summer League due to injury, his playmaking skills and collegiate awards make him a worthy addition. These additions come on the heels of LA's headline move, signing former No. 1 pick DeAndre Ayton as their starting center, a move that points to the Lakers' strategy of integrating high-profile talent with promising young players. Lakers sign four undrafted rookies to Exhibit 10 contracts

The Lakers have signed RJ Davis, Eric Dixon, Arthur Kaluma and Augustus Marciulionis, the team announced. All are signed to Exhibit 10 deals. Other than Bronny James, not that many players stood out for the Los Angeles Lakers during summer league play this month. However, they do have some undrafted rookies on their roster who could have a chance at becoming diamonds in the rough. Among them are Eric Dixon, RJ Davis, Arthur Kaluma and Augustas Marčiulionis. Dixon and Marčiulionis didn't play in summer league due to injury, and Davis and Kaluma weren't consistently impressive or promising. Still, all four will have the opportunity to show the Lakers something during training camp, as they have been signed to Exhibit 10 contracts as of Saturday. Dixon, a 6-foot-8, 230-pound forward, led all of NCAA Division I men's basketball in scoring this past season and averaged 23.3 points a game while shooting 40.7% from 3-point range. Davis had some solid play at the point guard position in five seasons with the University of North Carolina and averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game during that time. Kaluma put up 12.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in four years of college basketball, and Marčiulionis, the son of Hall of Famer Šarūnas Marčiulionis, showed some potential as a scorer and facilitator while at Saint Mary's College in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to initial reports a few weeks ago, the Lakers had signed Dixon to a two-way contract. However, it was later reported that he hadn't signed such a deal due to a foot injury.

Los Angeles Lakers Bring in Four Undrafted Rookies on Exhibit 10 Deals Ahead of 2025-26 Season

Lakers team (Image via Getty) In a move aimed at deepening their offseason roster and evaluating young talent, the Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed four undrafted rookies—guards RJ Davis and Augustas Marciulionis, and forwards Eric Dixon and Arthur Kaluma—on Exhibit 10 contracts. The signings were confirmed by the team via Twitter on July 26, 2025. These additions offer the Los Angeles Lakers a chance to assess promising prospects during training camp, with flexibility to convert deals depending on performance. Understanding the Los Angeles Lakers Exhibit 10 Contract Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year, non-guaranteed deals that can be converted into two-way contracts before the start of the regular season. These contracts also offer players bonuses of up to $75,000 if they are waived and spend at least 60 days with the team's G League affiliate. In this case, all four players are candidates to potentially earn a two-way slot with the Los Angeles Lakers or bolster the South Bay Lakers' roster. Eric Dixon: Villanova Scoring Machine Gets a Shot in L.A. Eric Dixon stands out among the group not just for his scoring prowess but also for how his contract situation unfolded. Ranked 44th on ESPN's draft board, Dixon surprisingly went undrafted despite leading NCAA Division I in scoring during the 2024–25 season. Dixon's 2024–25 Stats at Villanova: Stat Category Value Points Per Game 23.3 Rebounds Per Game 5.1 Minutes Per Game 34.8 Field Goal % 45.1% 3PT % 40.7% Free Throw % 81.3% The 6-foot-8 forward also earned third-team All-American honors and was expected by many to receive a two-way contract. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Kate Middleton's Parenting Style Leaves Queen Speechless Crowdy Fan Undo However, as reported by The Athletic's Dan Woike, a foot injury kept Dixon out of Summer League play, likely influencing the team's decision to start him on an Exhibit 10 deal instead. Still, his contract allows for potential conversion before the season begins. RJ Davis: ACC Player of the Year Joins the Purple and Gold RJ Davis brings leadership and scoring to the Los Angeles Lakers' backcourt options. The 6-foot guard earned ACC Player of the Year honors in 2023–24 and returned as a super-senior for North Carolina in 2024–25. Davis' Key Stats: • 17.2 points per game • 3.6 assists per game Davis has shown he can score at multiple levels and create plays under pressure, making him a potential backup guard option if he proves himself in training camp. Augustas Marciulionis: Lithuanian Playmaker from Saint Mary's A 6-foot-4 floor general, Augustas Marciulionis is a two-time WCC Player of the Year and one of the most well-rounded guards in mid-major basketball last season. Marciulionis' 2024–25 Stats at Saint Mary's: Stat Category Value Points Per Game 14.2 Assists Per Game 5.9 Rebounds Per Game 4.1 FG % 44.6% 3PT % 34.7% FT % 79.3% His international experience and consistency as a playmaker could help him stand out as a viable G League contributor or emergency call-up. Arthur Kaluma: Versatile Wing with a Well-Rounded Game Arthur Kaluma, a 6-foot-7 wing, arrives with a solid résumé across multiple college programs, including Creighton, Texas State, and Texas. In his final NCAA season with the Longhorns, Kaluma delivered across the board. Kaluma's 2024–25 Stats at Texas: Stat Category Value Points Per Game 12.3 Rebounds Per Game 7.5 Assists Per Game 1.8 FG % 46.2% 3PT % 35.9% FT % 78.4% His ability to guard multiple positions and contribute offensively makes him a potential sleeper among the Los Angeles Lakers' Exhibit 10 signings. While all four signings were expected, given earlier reports following the 2025 NBA Draft, Eric Dixon's deal was the only mild surprise, as many had anticipated a two-way agreement. As Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors noted, 'reporting last month suggested that Dixon would get a two-way contract — instead, he has joined the team on an Exhibit 10 deal.' With training camp on the horizon, these rookies now face a crucial window to prove their value. Exhibit 10 deals may seem like a low-commitment investment from the team, but they provide a real opportunity for undrafted players to break into the NBA system. On Saturday, the Lakers announced they had signed four players with Davis being among them. The contract details are not out yet but it's very likely an exhibit-10 contract for Davis which allows them to have the guard on their their roster for training camp. UNC star signs deal right after NBA Draft

North Carolina guard RJ Davis went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft this week but it didn't take long for him to find a new home. The former ACC Player of the Year will continue his basketball career, signing a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers shortly after the draft. It was one of the first deals announced by reporters as Billy Reinhardt first broke the news. Despite Davis not being drafted, it shows that there was some legit interest in him by a team like the Lakers as they moved quickly to sign him. In five years with North Carolina, Davis averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the three-point line. That includes a 2023-24 season in which he averaged 21.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while winning the ACC Player of the Year award and leading UNC to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Davis started 10 games as a freshman, coming in as a four-star recruit in a big recruiting class for UNC. He took over the starting job as a point guard in his sophomore season and was a starter the rest of the way in the Tar Heels' backcourt. Now, Davis will have the chance to impress the Lakers in the NBA Summer League and earn a roster spot. The Summer League begins in July.
