Celtic 'favourites to sign' Nygren in £1.7m transfer

The Danish SuperLiga club want to sell the 23-year-old attacker, who has just six months left on his contract, to avoid losing him for free. Nygren is believed to be close to choosing Celtic over RSC Anderlecht, FC Copenhagen, and several MLS clubs with the Scottish champions favourites to land a deal. Swedish media outlet Expressen said: "Celtic are currently favourites to sign Nygren and the parties are said to be close to an agreement. "There have also been reports of interest from RSC Anderlecht and FC Copenhagen, but as things stand right now, and as long as the situation doesn't change, Celtic are at the forefront of the process." The Scottish champions were allowed to speak to the Swedish international earlier this week and have agreed personal terms with him. Nygren is reportedly keen on a move to Scotland. He has been a key player for Nordsjælland, scoring 16 goals in all competitions this season. Nygren made his international debut for Sweden earlier this year and has already scored twice in four appearances for his country under Jon Dahl Tomasson. The deal is expected to be finalised soon.

Belgium Talent Chief Fired After Talbi Chose Morocco

Chemsdine Talbi has turned his back on Belgium to play for Morocco after tabling an official request to change his football nationality. Belgium were left reeling following the decision of the budding star which has piled pressure on football bosses in the country to keep hold of dual-nationality talents. Kevin Vermeulen, Belgium's Head of Talent, has been shown the door as a result of this decision, and amid a major shake-up to the department. Vermeulen, who worked with Talbi at RSC Anderlecht, had tried to lure him to the club but played no part in his final to ditch Belgium. Sports director Vincent Mannaert didn't hide his frustration. 'From now on, we move forward with players who fully commit to Belgium,' he said. 'If they choose elsewhere, fine — but we won't waste time chasing them.' Talbi picked Morocco for showing unwavering support during his injury woes – while Belgium dragged its feet. Insiders say Morocco's thrilling World Cup run and their fierce loyalty to players sealed the deal for him. The blow comes just days after Kos Karetsas chose Greece over Belgium. Talbi can play both as a left and right winger. Even though he is right-footed, he can shoot well with his left foot like the goal he scored in the UEFA Champions League play-offs against Atalanta. The 19-year-old FC has blistering speed and a direct attacking play – quite similar to Hakimi at the front. He is expected to join the Moroccan national team very soon for the World Cup qualifiers and friendly games.

Amir Murillo extends Marseille contract

Olympique de Marseille have officially confirmed that Michael Amir Murillo has extended his contract at the club until 2028. The news had been expected after reports emerged earlier in the week. Murillo's contract was previously set to finish in the south of France in 2026. The right-back who joined Marseille during the 2023 summer transfer window from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht has flourished under the management of Roberto De Zerbi. He has become a key player in the squad and one of the most dependable names on the teamsheet. However, last weekend he suffered a blow to his season after he picked up a hamstring strain during the 2-0 victory over FC Nantes. The injury could see him on the sidelines for several weeks, with it expected that he will not be fit for the clash with RC Lens on Saturday evening. The weekend after Marseille play Lens they will come up against their arch-rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the final Le Classique of the season. Marseille lost the home encounter 3-0 back in October.
