Six exciting races lined up tomorrow
Published on: Saturday, July 12, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jul 12, 2025 Text Size: Magic Opa with owner Wong Chee Min (left) and Chin Kui Sang. Kota Kinabalu: Local racing resumes with six exciting races lined up tomorrow (Sunday). Reliable Boyka is favourite in Race 4 (Novice) over 1,100 metres sand track. Khabib has speed though extra stamina is needed in closing stages for a second successive win. He won in scintillating fashion on April 13 albeit over a shorter 800m. Ratu Pantai and Lawa Dondo can be included for placings. Race 5 ((Initiation) over 1,000m sand track is a match-up between trusted Romantic Warrior and on form Imperial Girl. Imperial Girl secured second placing in her last two runs and she has swagger to challenge the warrior. Putra Rinaking loves to lead and he can gate crash. Puteri Seroja has vast experience and should be regarded. Race 6 (Initiation) over 1,000m sand track should be Magic Opa's golden moment. Hardworking and dependent, he is expected to cruise home. Challengers Victoria Glory and Marvelous One are proven quality and a cut above rest of the field. Simpangan Boy has speed and should be considered in the selections. Racing fans have plenty to look forward to this Sunday as well with 'live' telecast of races from Hong Kong and Perak. With the commingled totalisator pools for Hong Kong and Perak races, dividends are more stable. Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) Sabah Star is entered in Race 5 (Class 4/Div B) over 1,200m at Selangor Turf Club today (Saturday). His record over the past five runs have been disappointing to say the least. Lim's Unique is in a good moment and he can fight against favourite Joey. Both Wealthyness and Ironclad have ability to follow up with second straight win. Kota Kinabalu: Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) talented two-year old Borneo Star will make his debut (Race 6) this Sunday in the peninsula at Selangor Turf Club. Prepared by veteran trainer Richard Lines, Borneo Star is expected to use this run to familiarise race conditions for future assaults. Race 7 (Class A) over 1,200m is feature race with hard to beat Pacific Vampire against Honesty and Filial Dragon. Always switch on type, 'veteran' 10-year old Cheval Blanc should be regarded while Witness Impact has ability to upset. Leading the contingent are Kinabalu Warrior, David's Sling and Summer Glitter. Stiff competition is also expected from Sukoli Beauty (ex Coronation II) and Easylights. Race 3 (Class 4) over 1,100m sandtrack will be keenly fought. A princely pot of RM17,000 carry forward pool adds to the fanfare. Biduan and North Star are in excellent form homing in for a win with Golden Express and Dedek Beauty lurking not far behind. Race 5 (Class 3) over 1,400m will be fierce with dependable Classic Head taking on Messi. Lady Lara and Silent Arrow are proud and honest-types, and they will have a major say in the proceedings. Leading jockeys Firdaus, Fazli intensify battle for supremacy
Published on: Saturday, June 21, 2025 Published on: Sat, Jun 21, 2025 Text Size: Jockey Firdaus (with 15 wins to date) on Triten. Kota Kinabalu: This Sunday's Race 2 (Initiation) over 1,100m sandtrack is a decent field of 9 starters with All is Well marked early as favourite. First Time has demonstrated consistency and should pose a serious threat. Roxette is industrious at this level. With season leading jockey Firdaus on board, she can fight for top position. Two wins behind Firdaus, jockey Fazli D has decent chance to narrow the gap on board the promising Honey Prize. Race 3 (Class 5) over 1,000m sandtrack is the highlight race. Kokorriko, Lucky Lady II and Fight Again are expected to challenge one another. Hunter Champ is honest-type and has ability to keep pace behind the leaders and attack in the final phase. Advertisement Diva is up-and-coming with two 'prep' runs at higher Class 5 competition and looks ready this time. Placing is within her reach. Race 4 (Class 5) over 1,000m sandtrack sees Brilliant Crystal ready to see off Tambalang's speed-kings Amoyy and Apin Apin Prince. Quality-types Cooler Than Ice and Brave Guard can be considered for minor placings. Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) Kinabalu Light is entered for Race 11 (Class 5A) over 1,600m at Selangor Turf Club this Sunday. Up against a congested field of 13 other runners, Kinabalu Light has his work cut out. This race is too close to call with Kick and Run Buddy Run at top of the list. Superbowl should find Class 5 competition less intensive and has experience to fight for first position. Chinese Dream is wily and talented type, a minor placing is within his means. Another RSTC runner Vittoria Perfetta is entered for Race 12 (Class 5B) over 1,600m. Hardworking jockey PH Seow is on board which should give Vittoria Perfetta a decent run. Top Confidence is favourite with two impressive wins and a second position in his last three runs. Forest Gold and Tigarous round up the selections. Kota Kinabalu: Tambalang races headlined this weekend's bumper crop of local and simulcast races. Fiery racing passion will ignite with more than twenty local stables represented over five races tomorrow (Sunday). Race 5 (Initiation) 1,100m over sandtrack will be a competitive affair with a robust line-up of several contenders. Magic Opa is favourite but Billie Jean can threaten seriously in latter stages. Puteri Seroja is a seasoned trooper with strong chances for a placing. Race 4 (Novice) 1,000m over sandtrack pits Country Song against lead from front type, Ratu Pantai. Triten has ability to surprise with Malkita rounding up the selections. Speed merchant Wattzilla should take down Race 3 (Novice) 1,000m sandtrack. Dedek Girl, Seaworld and Gereek can try their best to challenge. Sunday also sees Royal Sabah Turf Club's (RSTC) Sabah Win and Sabah Star entered respectively for Race 1 and Race 5 at Selangor Turf Club. Sabah Win is marked as one of the favourites alongside Pacific Soldier and Sky Eight. Sabah Win has raced credibly in his last five runs with two second positions and one third placing. Race 5 features Sabah Star up against a classy field of 11 starters. His recent form has been patchy and less than satisfactory. He can use this occasion to build up condition and confidence. Favourites are Per Incrown, Cool Sixty-One and The Star. Kinabalu Light is emergency acceptor at Race 13 (1,700m). He is a proper long distance type and has decent performance record. He has outside chance of a top four finishing. Heavy favourites for this race are Happy Warrior and Pacific Rainbow. Today (Saturday) showcases eleven Hong Kong races from 4pm to 9.15pm. Race 4 (Class 4) over 1,200m dirt track is worth matinee watching. This intriguing race sees fan favourite apprentice-jockey Britney Wong locking direct horns with champion jockey Z Purton. Race 8 (Class 2) over 1,200m turf sees four-year old Bottomuptogether trying to cement his glowing reputation against creditable opposition Call Me Glorious, Wunderbar and Raging Blizzard.
