Vijayanagara DC issues fee ultimatum to 406 private schools
Hosapete (Vijayanagara): Deputy commissioner, MS Diwakar set a deadline of June 5 for fee declarations from 406 private educational institutions in the district. He warned that failure to comply would result in the schools' names being published on the district's website. Following the guidelines, every private school is obligated to declare its fees by Dec. "However, 406 private educational institutions, which make up 25% of the 1,612 schools in the district, have not yet provided their fee details. Consequently, a deadline of June 5 has been imposed for these schools," remarked the DC. During a recent meeting with private unaided primary and high schools' governing bodies at his office hall, he addressed this issue. He noted that no private institution had submitted fee details. He warned that schools collecting additional fees will face disciplinary action according to regulations. Schools must display their fee structures on notice boards. DC Diwakar also issued specific instructions regarding student safety. He noted that 112 school vehicles in the Vijayanagara district are over 15 years of age. He instructed all BEOs to inspect private schools by June 5, document vehicles without proper RTO licence and insurance, and submit their findings to the district administration. The govt has banned schools from selling uniforms, shoes, bags, notebooks, and textbooks, as well as from forcing students to buy these items from the institution. "If any complaints are lodged regarding this matter, disciplinary measures will be enforced against those schools," he cautioned. "Sanitation personnel should be hired in schools, similar to teaching staff. Many schools are not adhering to govt regulations. Private schools should operate with a sense of humanity alongside delivering quality education," the DC stated. Diwakar highlighted concerns about inadequate toilet facilities for students. He emphasised that addressing toilet sanitation takes precedence over drinking water provisions. Students bringing water from home indicate either the absence of water systems or poor water quality. The DC observed that inadequate toilet facilities in private institutions compel female students to refrain from drinking water. "Do the school management boards have any concern regarding the issues that may arise for girls because of this? First and foremost, prioritise the sanitation of toilets," he instructed. DDPI Venkatesh Ramachandrappa confirmed these strict measures, explaining that as chairman of the district-level education regulatory authority committee, the DC holds the power to revoke recognition of unauthorised schools, those teaching unauthorised syllabi or medium, conducting unauthorised classes, or facing teacher complaints. Schools must focus on student welfare and educational quality, he said. Since becoming a new district, various efforts have been initiated to enhance the educational environment in Vijayanagara district. As a result, in the last two years, the district has achieved superior results in SSLC and PUC examinations compared to its parent district, Ballari, and these efforts are now experiencing increased momentum.

BH Series Number Plate: Are you eligible? Check benefits, documents required, road tax discount, how to apply
New Delhi: The Bharat Series (BH) number plate is playing a pivotal role in transforming the vehicle registration for professionals who frequently relocate across Indian states. Introduced in 2021, the BH series number plate is designed to ease the bureaucratic burden associated with re-registering vehicles after every move. It is important to note that the BH series offers a pan-India registration solution that eliminates the need for repeated RTO visits and state-specific formalities. In this article, we will tell you all the benefits of having the Bharat Series (BH) number plate. Who can apply for it? What documents are needed? And how can you get a BH series number plate? But, before we go ahead, note that BH series number plates are only for private vehicles, not commercial ones. Why was BH number plate introduced? The main motive behind introducing the BH number plate was to reduce paperwork and eliminate the need to re-register a vehicle when someone moves from one state to another. The present rule states that if a vehicle is registered in one state and you use it in another state for more than 12 months, you must re-register it in the new state. This takes both time and money. But if your vehicle has a BH series number plate, you don't need to re-register it. It is valid across the country. What are the key benefits of BH Number Plate: Vehicle owners can avoid re-registering when moving between states. Taxes are paid online and calculated uniformly across states, reducing inconsistencies. Applications can be submitted online via the Vahan portal or through the vehicle dealership at the time of purchase. BH Series Number Plate Eligibility Central and state government employees Armed forces personnel Public sector bank employees Private sector employees whose organizations operate in four or more states or union territories How to Apply for a BH Number Plate Applicants must fill out Form 20 for vehicle registration. Private sector employees need to submit Form 60 (working certificate) along with a valid company ID. Once uploaded and verified by the Regional Transport Office (RTO), the BH series registration is issued upon payment of applicable fees. The BH number plate is a major step toward a unified transport system in India, offering a hassle-free registration option for a mobile workforce. As professional mobility continues to rise, the BH series stands out as a practical and efficient alternative to state-bound vehicle registration norms.

Palghar Murder Accused, On The Run For 24 Years, Arrested In UP
Palghar: Police have arrested a man who was on the run for the last 24 years after being accused in a case of murder in Maharashtra's Palghar district, officials said on Sunday. The 50-year-old accused, identified as Mamu alias Chhote alias Babuon Omprakash Shrisahuni Diwakar, was arrested from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on April 27, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Madan Ballal said, terming it as a "textbook" case for them. On January 14, 2001, a man, identified as Moharram Ali Mohammad Ibrahim Ali (46), was stabbed in the stomach with a sharp weapon in Virar area and he later succumbed to his injuries. The Virar police subsequently registered a case against Harun Ali Mustaqin Ali Syed and Mamu under Indian Penal Code section 302 (murder), Ballal said. The motive behind the crime was a dispute over unpaid fares. The victim used to regularly travel in the autorickshaws of the accused from a nearby hardware shop, but allegedly did not pay the fare, he said. The matter escalated, leading to the stabbing incident, Ballal said. While Syed was initially arrested, Mamu managed to flee and remained untraceable for 24 years. "The accused disappeared and the case went cold for over two decades. Tracking someone after 24 years is no easy task, but we never gave up," Ballal said, adding the police started reinvestigating the case earlier this year. "We began identifying autorickshaw drivers from that time and cross-checking with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) records. We then conducted a technical analysis of phone numbers obtained through the accused's son and nephew. That's how we zeroed-in on his location to Paharpur, Kanpur," he said. A special police team was sent to UP and after several days of surveillance, the accused was arrested from near a petrol pump on Hamidpur Road with the help of the Kanpur police, the official said. "It was a textbook case of crime detection and inter-state coordination," Ballal said.
