Stirling Uni lecturer sets Radio One 'abuzz' with special Taylor Swift cover

Listeners to the Radio One Breakfast Show were treated to an extra special version of one of the pop star's top hits - all from the perspective of a wasp. A Stirling University lecturer played a star turn on the biggest radio show in the country this morning when she shared her extra-special cover - from the perspective of a wasp. Dr Rebecca Boulton is a lecturer in the university's School of Biological and Environmental Sciences who studies the evolution and mating practices of insects. ‌ However, she took her mission to spread the gospel about the positives of the often ill-regarded pests to the airwaves of Greg James' Radio One show and treated listeners to her version of Taylor Swift's 'Anti Hero'. ‌ Rebecca and host James sang along to the extra-special version - performed from a wasp's perspective - which was first penned by the lecturer and her friend for the Edinburgh Fringe. On the show, she explained about her work and also said the aim of the song was to "change the reputation" of wasps. ‌ After singing together live on air, James said to the Stirling expert: "Becky, that is so good, I love you for that and I love your brain. "Not only are you a lecturer, but you're a fun lecturer and that means you've changed the world!"# He then invited Rebecca back on to the show to perform more of her bizarre catalogue, including one track which she says discusses the topic of insect genitalia to the tune of Robin Thicke's song 'Blurred Lines'. On her personal page, Dr Boulton describes herself as an "evolutionary ecologist interested in how animals find mates, how many times they mate, and who they mate with". She continues: "I work with parasitoid wasps which are ecologically and economically very important. "Many parasitoid species attack pest species like aphids and caterpillars; healthy populations of parasitoid wasps can reduce and even eliminate the need for using chemical pesticides."

EXCLUSIVE Pregnant Vick Hope asks Radio One Big Weekend crowd for baby name ideas ahead of her maternity leave as she prepares to welcome first child with husband Calvin Harris

Vick Hope asked the Radio One Big Weekend crowd in Liverpool for baby name ideas on Saturday before heading off on maternity leave. The presenter, 35, who is expecting her first child with husband Calvin Harris later this year, threw herself open to suggestions while taking to the stage with co-host Jamie Laing, 36. Glowing Vick looked sensational as she showcased her blossoming bump in a vibrant figure hugging maxi dress with thigh-high split. Chatting with the audience Jaime said: 'Vick is about to go on maternity leave, and she wants some help with some baby names, so if you can shout some names to me'. As the huge crowd began screaming out suggestions a giggling Vick replied: 'Ok, I got it'. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to Daily Mail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Vick appeared to be having the time of her life at the festival as she took to Instagram with snaps of herself enjoying with co-host Jamie. The pair caught some of the Liverpool festival's biggest acts including Mel C 's surprise performance with Tom Grennan. She even had a chance to let her hair down in the BBC presenter's raised platform, where she danced with the crew. The mum-to-be also had a chance to catch up with her fellow co-presenters Arielle Free, Greg James and Lauren Layfiedl. She wore a comfortable-looking black dress and trainers, which put her impending arrival on full display. The mum-to-be captioned the sanps: 'Final @bbcradio1 Going Home show with just the two of us for a little while, it's been such an absolute blast! 'Thank you for the love and the laughs these last few months sweet sweet @jamielaing, all the team, and of course our amazing listeners. 'Legends, the lot of ya.' Earlier in the day Vick appeared to be having the time of her life at the festival as she took to Instagram with snaps of herself enjoying with co-host Jamie Jamie also sent his good wishes ahead of the momentous occasion and said: 'To the sweetest soul, who goes on maternity leave today - what a blast we've had.' She also discussed her departure on-air with Jamie, who was quick to let Vick know that she will make a fantastic mum. Jamie said: 'You're an amazing friend, an amazing person, and you're just going to be an amazing mum.' She replied: 'Oh, thank you.' Vick and Calvin's baby is set to have an interesting start to life with the pair owning several homes, including a farm in Ibiza and a 10-acre estate in the Cotswolds. Vick and Calvin are reported to be in the process of building a mansion on their Cotswolds estate, which is reported to become their main place of residence. The couple tied the knot in September 2023 and only just announced their impending arrival, choosing to keep their relationship largely out of the spotlight. Vick stressed on air that she didn't want to make a big deal out of her pregnancy. She said: 'This is not an announcement, by the way. People keep saying are you going to announce, are you going to announce? And I'm like, I'm not the King. 'I'll be honest, I struggle with anything that's personal or private. I will tell you a story about eating a kebab out of a bin, that's one thing. 'But there's a line and so I've never been that big on sharing. Particularly because I've just been enjoying this privately and quietly.'

Bodyguard Claims Megan Thee Stallion Allegedly Was Shot By Her Friend, Not Tory

Source: Getty / Radio One New claims are shaking up the case between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez. Bradley James, who worked as a driver and bodyguard for Megan's former friend Kelsey Harris, says he heard something shocking. According to him, Kelsey allegedly told someone that she was actually the one who shot Megan, not Tory. This all goes back to a fight in 2020 after a party. Megan said Tory shot her in the foot, and he was later found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison. The Canadian rapper has always said he didn't do it. The only people there were Megan, Kelsey, and the driver. Now, during a press event held by a group helping Tory's legal team, a rep named Walter Roberts shared what the driver claims. He says Kelsey allegedly told someone she fired the gun three times, and Tory tried to stop her by hitting her arm. That's when the gun went off two more times. Roberts said this means Tory never fired the gun at all. These new claims might change how people see the case, but it's not clear if anything will happen legally. The court had already decided Tory was guilty based on evidence and Megan's story. Still, with this new info, people are asking more questions about what really happened that night. More news to come as the story takes an interesting turn. Megan Thee Stallion and her lawyer, Alex Spiro, quickly responded to new claims about her shooting. Spiro told XXL that the case is already settled and not up for debate. He said, 'Tory Lanez was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers, and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system. This is not a political matter, this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law.' Megan's team made it clear they're not here for rumors or drama, the court made its decision, and that's what they stand by. Tory Lanez Hospitalized After Being Stabbed In Prison

Source: Getty / Radio One Rapper Tory Lanez is currently hospitalized after being stabbed while in prison. TMZ reports that Tory (real name Daystar Peterson) was in the yard of California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi when he was attacked by another inmate. The motive for the attack is unclear, but one source confirmed that the 'Alone at Prom' artist was rushed by ambulance to a nearby civilian hospital in Bakersfield. Sources say that his injuries are non-life-threatening. Tory is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Despite the sentence, Tory and Megan are still battling it out in court, with the Houston raptress accusing him of enlisting bloggers to continue harassing her. Throughout his time behind bars, Tory is continuing his music career. Just last week, he posted a photo with fellow inmates and announced that his next album will be dropping soon. This is a developing story. SEE ALSO Tory Lanez Hospitalized After Being Stabbed In Prison was originally published on Black America Web Featured Video CLOSE
