Radley FY24 sales drop amid ongoing transformation strategy, US growth remains priority

British accessories brand Radley reported a 7 percent drop in total sales for the year to April 27, 2024, after softer performance across global wholesale partners counteracted efforts under its ongoing transformation strategy. Total sales for the period dropped from 77.3 million pounds to 72 million pounds, while its underlying EBITDA also fell from 4.3 million pounds to 2.7 million pounds. This was largely driven by a 30 percent decrease in global wholesale sales, reflecting what the company said was 'partnerships moving towards dropship and marketplace models'. In contrast, Radley's direct-to-consumer sales welcomed a like-for-like growth of 3.8 percent, backed by strong DTC performance in the UK, at 3.7 percent growth, and the US, where LFL sales rose 4.7 percent. Digital sales led the way in this respect, up 10.3 percent on the year prior, while store sales were more modest at 0.4 percent growth. Radley enacted a transformation strategy which has since taken shape in three key pillars: Leadership and Talent, Technology and Product Development. A notable element of the strategy is the company's licensing model, which saw revenues rise 8 percent to 1.4 million pounds, and thus remains an important growth driver for Radley's non-core categories. YoY sales drop in US as wholesale demand softens Likewise, the US is to also stay a priority for Radley, with expansion there overseen by Sara Wallace, who joined the company as commercial director in September 2024 in order to establish partnerships with retailers like Nordstrom and Dillard's. Radley said it was to now focus on the brand's US digital business and continued expansion of its partnership channels in the region. Notably, Radley USA LLC, the company's wholly owned subsidiary of its core group Radley+Co Limited, contributed 17 percent to overall sales, down from 20 percent in 2023. Sales in the region fell 19 percent on the year prior, despite website sales growing 50 percent. Radley said the performance was due to the closure of three unprofitable stores and the underperformance of wholesale partners. Radley is to further evolve its product proposition, an initiative that began in FY24 and will be accelerated in FY25 under Fernando Soriano Iglesias, whose first full-led collection will drop for autumn/winter 2025. His designs will fall alongside Radley's emphasis on extending accessory categories, such as its new beauty license, meaning the product and design team are targeting LFL and non-LFL growth in the coming year. In the report, issued with the UK's Companies House, Radley did recognise that the retail climate in the UK and US represented a key risk due to the 'continuing impact of the cost of living pressures'. 'Our ongoing forecasting activities take into account a range of scenarios in this respect and their impact on the profitability and liquidity of the business,' the company noted.

Three genius ways to reduce water usage and bring down your bills

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EVER rising water bills are becoming a drain on household's finances. But there are some useful ways to reduce your water usage and bring down your bills. 7 We have three genius ways to reduce water usage and bring down your bills Credit: Getty WASTE LESS: Before you do anything else, fix any leaks such as a dripping tap. Then, look at how you can use less. Showers use the most water, so set a time limit of four minutes. To help you stick to it, search for 'four-minute shower hits' on Spotify and the playlist from charity WaterAid. Also, get yourself a water-saving shower head, from £10, and turn off the tap when brushing your teeth. In the kitchen, always use dishwashers and washing machines on eco mode. NO-HOSE SAVINGS: Instead of using a hose, target plants in need with water from a can instead. Wash fruit and vegetables in a filled washing-up bowl instead of running the tap and then use the leftover water in your garden. Water early morning or late evening to reduce evaporation. If you've been meaning to set up a water butt or barrel to collect rainwater, don't put it off any longer. BILL BUSTERS: You can't change your water company, but there are ways to get extra help. Check your bill to see if you are on a water meter and, if not, it's free to switch to one. How to cut energy costs and get help with FOUR key household bills Generally, if there are fewer people living in your home than bedrooms, a meter could save you money. Use the Consumer Council for Water's calculator at to see how much you'd pay if you had a meter installed. If you receive certain benefits and need to use a high amount of water, you might qualify for the WaterSure scheme, which caps your bill if you have certain medical conditions or three or more children under 19. If you're a low earner in England and Wales, you could apply for your water company's cheaper social tariff. All prices on page correct at time of going to press. ‘These weeks are special': Roosters get sympathy for tough draw but senior leader is excited by Origin challenge

While others are questioning whether it's fair for the Roosters to have to play all three stand-down State of Origin matches, veteran Victor Radley is excited by the challenge and doesn't want people feeling sorry for the glamour club. The Roosters have five players in the Origin teams for the May 28 opener and are set to be without their stars ahead of games two and three, with the club not having a bye before any of those matches. The Bulldogs and Sea Eagles also have to play in rounds 12, 15 and 18, with fans of all three clubs entitled to feel hard done by given they will be missing key players. But instead of debating whether it's fair or not, Radley and the Roosters welcome the challenge of lifting without their quality quintet for Saturday's showdown with the Sharks. The Roosters will still have James Tedesco, Daniel Tupou and other stars, with Radley recalling a similar challenge in 2017 when they outlasted the Rabbitohs despite being without key players because of Origin. 'I feel like it's so exciting,' he said. 'We came in yesterday (Monday) and straight away had the feeling that we're going to have young boys playing and we might have some guys making their debuts and starting for the first time. 'The excitement around the team is there. 'I remember in 2017 (going through something similar). I didn't actually play during that Origin period, but I remember coming into training thinking that I might get a shot. 'It's a really special time, and this club can be really strong with these young guys coming in. I'm really pumped for it.' Robert Toia, Lindsay Collins, Angus Crichton, Connor Watson and Spencer Leniu will all be missing, but they should get Englishman Dom Young back for Saturday's clash, while their young forwards showed against Penrith earlier this year that they have the talent and the belief to get the job done. 'As an older guy, I can't wait to get out there with them,' Radley said. 'I can't wait to stand there and say 'let's go boys' as people walk out for their first game. 'It's what you play for. These weeks are special.' Siua Wong has stepped up on the right edge this season and is backing other graduates of the Roosters academy to excel this weekend. 'The players that have developed through the academy are ready. I don't think they'd be here training with us if they weren't,' he said. 'Robbo (Roosters coach Trent Robinson) definitely won't have trouble finding guys to play these spots. 'A lot of the boys have the confidence in their abilities, and that comes from the hard work they've done over the years.'

Little-used junior steps up in relief to keep Oregon women firmly inside NCAA top 8

Oregon head coach Derek Radley was beaming. Ducks junior Anika Varma stepped on the 10th tee Saturday morning at Omni La Costa with just six tournament rounds under her belt, three as part of Oregon's starting lineup. She'd won a qualifier to earn the right to travel to Carlsbad as the Ducks' sixth woman, and with freshman Tong An waking up too sore to compete after an opening 74, Varma was thrust into action in the second round of the NCAA Championship. Varma responded with an even-par 72, tied for the team's low round of the day. She even had it to 2 under at one point on her second nine. 'To throw her in second round of a national championship and for her to go out and do that, just awesome,' said Radley, whose Oregon team sits third at 1 over, six shots back of Stanford and just a stroke shy of Northwestern. 'She really, truly is a mentally tough kid. She's worked her freaking tail off, and I'm so proud of her for continuing to be engaged through this whole time and continuing to work hard in case we needed her, and I commended her on that.' It was because of that dedication that Varma, who graduated this spring, was afforded the opportunity to play Darae Chung in an 18-hole qualifier last week at Emerald Valley, the team's home course. Chung was coming off a second-round 85 at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional before being subbed out for Karen Tsuru, who missed a few starts this spring with a back injury. Varma hadn't performed much better in limited duty, tying for 43rd as an individual at the Windy City Collegiate last fall and then sharing 44th at the Silverado Showdown, where she took a resting Kiara Romero's spot. In three years at Oregon, Varma has posted three top-20s in 12 career events, all three coming as a freshman, when she went T-11 and T-15 before tying for ninth at the Pac-12 Championship. Yet, Radley went with his gut and gave the relentless worker a shot; Varma responded by making nine birdies to easily defeat Chung, and she followed that up with an impressive week of practice. 'She looked the best she's looked in her time at Oregon,' said Radley, who also felt that La Costa, at just over 6,200 yards but extremely penal if off target, set up perfect for the short-but-accurate Varma. 'If there was ever a golf course that would fit her, it's this one,' Radley added. Varma took advantage of soft, morning conditions, carding just three bogeys and equaling her best round not just of this season, where she was a combined 22 over entering Saturday, but of the past two seasons. 'I'm out here having a blast,' Varma told Radley after her round. 'It's my last go round, so let's go get it.' Suvichaya Vinijchaitham and Tiffany Huang added 72s for Oregon, which advanced to the semifinals last year at La Costa. Romero was the throw-out score with a 74. Most of the morning wave, comprised of the better ranked teams, climbed the leaderboard as well, including the top-ranked Cardinal, who shot 10 under after an opening 5-over round. USC and Florida State are tied for fourth at 3 over while Mississippi State is sixth at 4 over and Texas is tied for seventh with Oklahoma State, the only team in the top 12 that played in the afternoon, at 5 over. The top eight teams after 72 holes qualify for match play, which begins Tuesday. First-round leader Vanderbilt plummeted to T-13 at 12 over after an 18-over day. LSU (14 over), Ohio State (16 over), Wake Forest (+26) and Ole Miss (28 over) were the morning-wave teams who are outside the top 15 and will get bumped to the tougher afternoon wave on Sunday. Mississippi State's Avery Weed leads South Carolina's Eila Galitsky by two shots at 7 under in the individual race. Florida State's Mirabel Ting, the favorite to win the Annika Award, is tied for sixth at 3 under, two shots clear of her teammate Lottie Woad, thought to be her biggest challenger along with Romero.

Calls for Roosters to axe Test player after 'try of the decade' completely ruined

Sydney Roosters fans are fuming over the team's defence and poor ball-handling after Mark Nawaqanitawase scored one of the greatest tries in NRL history, only for it to count for nothing. And Test player Victor Radley has come under scrutiny for some bizarre defensive efforts late in Friday night's game against the Bulldogs. Nawaqanitawase scored what many are calling the 'try of the decade' to give the Roosters a 20-18 lead against the ladder-leading Bulldogs. The former Wallabies winger somehow managed to hop on one foot and then chip the ball into the in-goal, before running out and back into play to ground the ball. NRL fans and commentators were blown away by the astonishing effort, with many describing it as one of the greatest individual tries they've ever seen. "That could be the try of the decade," commentator Mat Thompson said on Channel 9. Andrew Johns said: "No way. That was freakish." Unfortunately for Nawaqanitawase and the Roosters, it ultimately counted for nothing because the Bulldogs came back from 14-0 down to win 24-20. The Roosters only had themselves to blame, making a staggering 17 errors and completing at just 67 per cent. Despite bagging a double, Nawaqanitawase made six errors of his own and fumbled a number of high balls that gifted the Bulldogs good field position. The Bulldogs handled the slippery conditions much better, completing at 81 per cent. The Roosters handed the Bulldogs a gift of a try in the second half when Egan Butcher spilled the ball coming out from his line and watched Toby Sexton race away to make it 14-12. The Dogs then scored through Bronson Xerri in the 62nd minute and Matt Burton in the 73rd, with Burton's try proving the match-winner. But the efforts of Radley on the last two tries raised more than a few eyebrows. The England Test player was in perfect position to tackle both Xerri and Burton, but bizarrely he didn't even make an attempt on either. Radley might have been carrying an injury that prevented him from pushing off one leg, but Xerri and Burton both ran straight past him as the back-rower didn't even attempt a tackle. Fans were quick to call Radley out on social media, with some questioning whether he's still up to first-grade standard. There were calls for coach Trent Robinson to give Radley a stint in reserve grade and hand more playing time to some of the club's younger forwards. Great tackle number 12, pffft — GregM (@Gmeister67) May 16, 2025 It's like he doesn't want to defend in the middle — Taylor Losalu Stan Account (Harley) (@Swandog90) May 16, 2025 Oh man Victor Radley is a reserve grader these days — Wayne Pasterfield (@wpasterfield) May 16, 2025 That's the second time Victor Radley has been completely shat on by a play up the middle and let a player walk through to score. #NRLBulldogsRoosters — Lachlan Jeffery (@LachlanJeffery) May 16, 2025 Victor Radley embarrassed twice with blokes using footwork going inside him. — Jo (@SmokinJo21) May 16, 2025 Agree errors destroyed us. In the end it cost us the game. Middle defence has been embarrassing all year, too many soft tries and nothing has improved. Didn't have a Player that could win us the game at the death. Very disappointing loss. — Tones (@Tones68) May 16, 2025 In the end, Radley and the Roosters were only in that situation because of their atrocious ball-handling. Reporter Lachlan Jeffery wrote on social media: "So many errors by the Roosters. Not winning footy games with 64% completions and 18 errors (sic). Middle defence also embarrassing." Daily Telegraph columnist 'The Oracle' wrote: "Hoping that one day…..the Roosters will address their diabolical error rate which has plagued this club for over a decade. The Roosters completion rate has been the worst of any team, year after year." RELATED: Payne Haas hits back as Broncos player set to be ousted from club Calls for fresh investigation after $828m 'disgrace' in women's Origin Speaking after the game, Robinson said Nawaqanitawase was hurting after his error-laden game. The winger refused to do any media interviews and left Accor Stadium soon after the match. "The cost is really high of those (errors)," Robinson said. "He is a really good catcher, I think there is too much effort in the jump. It's not through lack of technique ... It's an easy fix. But those hurt tonight. I can understand Mark is hurting in there."
