Stellar's Midnight Mayhem: XLM Plunged 6% on High-Volume Despite Rain Integration
Stellar's native token XLM fell along with the broader market in the past 24 hours, with large volumes occurring at the turn of the day. The decline happened even as Rain, the global card issuing platform powered by stablecoins, announced Thursday support for Stellar alongside integration with Solana and Tron. XLM has plummeted 7% over 24 hours, dropping from 0.288 to 0.271, with exceptionally high selling volume. The cryptocurrency dived out of a trendline, marking the recovery from April lows, mimicking a pattern seen in payments-focused cryptocurrency XRP. Still, despite the price drop, Stellar's integration with Rain offers a rare bright spot in an otherwise dour market sentiment. The integration is a meaningful step toward mainstream adoption, allowing users to spend stablecoins held on these high-throughput networks for everyday purchases. XLM-USD experienced a significant 7% decline over 24 hours, dropping from 0.288 to 0.271. An exceptionally high selling volume of 76.9M occurred at midnight (00:00), establishing strong resistance at 0.280. Support emerged around 0.270-0.271, with substantial buying volume (74.7M) during the 01:00 hour. Price formed a critical support zone at 0.270-0.271 that was tested multiple times with high volume. A temporary recovery began at 09:43, forming an ascending channel pattern before selling pressure returned. The final hour showed volatile trading, with prices dropping to 0.270 before recovering slightly to 0.273, then falling back to 0.271 on high volume (2.24M). Rain Expands Stablecoin Visa Cards to Solana, Tron and Stellar as Digital Payment Gains Momentum
Rain, a crypto card platform that lets users spend stablecoins anywhere Visa (V) is accepted, said it has added support for Solana SOL, Tron TRX and Stellar XLM networks. The update makes it easier for companies building on those chains to launch their own branded cards, backed by either custodial or non-custodial wallets, that work across borders and payment use cases. Users can then pay with stablecoins in real-world scenarios like buying groceries, sending business payouts or receiving funds overseas. The move underscores the growing trend of using blockchain rails for everyday payments, primarily in the form of stablecoins, a special subset of digital tokens tied to fiat currencies. Stablecoin payment volume taken in February of this year amounted to an annualized $72.3 billion, a fresh report from Artemis showed. Rain raised $24.5 million in a Series A round in March and says demand for card programs tied to stablecoins is accelerating, especially among platforms looking to bridge digital assets and everyday spending. The startup claims it's the only Visa Principal Member offering multi-chain card issuance out of the box, meaning developers can tap into one API to roll out global payments using stablecoins. The firm already supports Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon, but the new additions bring in networks known for speed (Solana), remittances (Stellar) and high stablecoin volume (Tron). Applications including KAST and Offramp are already putting the platform to use, the company said. KAST, built on Solana, issues cards that connect directly to users' wallets, enabling real-time spending. Offramp, based on Tron, is rolling out cards in Latin America to expand access to dollar-based in to access your portfolio

‘Big Trouble in Little China' actor Peter Kwong dead aged 73
Peter Kwong has died aged 73. The actor, best known for his role in John Carpenter's cult classic 'Big Trouble in Little China', passed away in his sleep on Tuesday (28.05.25), according to a statement from his team. Deadline, which first reported his passing, said: 'His reps told Deadline that Kwong died overnight Tuesday in his sleep.' Over a career spanning more than four decades, Peter appeared in nearly 90 film and television roles and was widely respected for his contributions to the screen and the acting community through his work in industry organisations. Born in Los Angeles in 1950, Peter began his acting career on television in the late 1970s, landing roles in series such as 'Wonder Woman', 'Little House on the Prairie', 'Miami Vice' and 'The A-Team'. His first appearance in film came in the 1977 drama 'Panic in Echo Park'. In 1986, Peter landed two of his most notable roles. He portrayed Tommy Tong opposite Eddie Murphy in the fantasy comedy-adventure 'The Golden Child', and Rain, one of the three elemental martial artists in 'Big Trouble in Little China'. The latter, which also starred Kim Cattrall and Kurt Russell, was a commercial disappointment upon release but has since grown into a cult classic. Speaking about his role in the Carpenter-directed film, Peter once said: 'The character of Rain was something special. The fight choreography, the costume – it all came together in a way that stuck with people. 'Even decades later, fans still come up to me and talk about it.' That same year, he also appeared in 'Never Too Young to Die'. Beyond his on-screen work, Petr was active in promoting representation and supporting actors' rights in the industry. He served on the Screen Actors Guild's National Board of Directors for more than 10 years and was a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists' National Board. The actor and martial artist also held positions on the Television Academy's Board of Governors and the Actors Branch Executive Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
