India captain Shubman Gill at Lord's Cricket Ground (Photo by) Despite India trailing 1-2 in the ongoing Test series against England, former cricketer Suresh Raina has backed the team to pull off a sensational comeback. The veteran believes that the Shubman Gill-led side has shown enough grit and character to turn things around in the final two Tests. India lost the third Test at Lord's by just 22 runs, falling short while chasing 193 despite a fight from the lower order. Despite momentum being on the hosts' side, Raina remains optimistic. 'They will do it. They have that sense of desire, perseverance and determination,' Raina told ANI. 'Gill will make his mark, as a batter and as a captain. I think he has done really well.' Gill has led by example so far, scoring 607 runs in six innings at a staggering average of 101.16. The 25-year-old has already hit three centuries, with a top score of 269. No Virat Kohli, No MS Dhoni: Suresh Raina Reveals His All-Time World XI; Picks 4 Indian Players

In a surprising move that stirred debates among fans, former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina unveiled his all-time World XI, leaving out two of India's most iconic cricketers, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. The announcement came ahead of his participation in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, where he continues to play alongside Indian greats. Raina's Star-Studded World XI Raina's list reflects his admiration for classic cricketing legends and all-rounders who changed the game. His selected XI features a heavy dose of spinners and includes four Indian cricketing legends, but curiously misses out on two of the biggest names in recent Indian cricket history. Here's Suresh Raina's World XI: Openers: Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar Middle Order: Vivian Richards, Gary Sobers All-Rounders: Yuvraj Singh, Ian Botham, Andrew Flintoff Spinners: Shane Warne, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Saqlain Mushtaq Impact Player: Paul Adams No Place for Dhoni or Kohli The omission of MS Dhoni, one of India's most successful captains and a legendary wicketkeeper-batsman, raised quite a few eyebrows. Similarly, Virat Kohli, a modern-day great and one of the top run-scorers across formats, was also missing from Raina's XI. Though Raina didn't explain his reasoning, the decision has led to an avalanche of fan reactions across social media platforms, with many questioning the logic behind such exclusions. WCL 2025 and the Legends' League Suresh Raina is currently participating in the WCL 2025 tournament as part of the India Champions squad, which includes other former stars such as Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, and the Pathan brothers. The league has brought together legends from different cricketing nations, making it a nostalgic and entertaining spectacle for fans worldwide.

'I think its a doctors call': Raina on 'legend' Bumrah playing 4th Test at Manchester

Birmingham [UK], July 20 (ANI): Former Indian middle-order batter Suresh Raina hailed pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for his performances during the ongoing series against England away from home, calling him a "legend". He also said that the pacer playing the fourth Test is down to a "doctor's call" as his workload is under management following a lengthy injury lay-off. The availability of Bumrah, who is playing only three Tests during the ongoing series against England due to workload management, will be a big talking point as the team bus heads to Manchester for the fourth Test at Old Trafford. With the series being 2-1 in favour of England, there have been reports that Bumrah could feature in the fourth Test to give India a chance to level the series. Speaking to ANI at Birmingham, where he is due to his participation in the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL), Raina said about Bumrah playing the fourth Test, "I think it is a doctor's call to be very honest. I know my body. I know my doctor. I know what guidelines he is giving me, how to play the game." "So I think with Bumrah, I think he is a legend. I think he knows his body. He knows his workload, how to manage himself and look at his performance at Lord's, he registered his place in the Lord's Honours Board (with a five-wicket haul)," he added. Raina said that while a little rest is important for Bumrah since he is playing Test cricket after a long injury layoff following the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia earlier this year, in the next Test, the team management would like to have him in the team. "Rishabh Pant had an injury on his finger to. So it is very important for both of them (to play fourth Test). If they have to draw the series or if they have to try to win the team, then I think it will be very important for both of them to feature in the fourth Test," he added. In two Tests so far, Bumrah has taken 12 wickets at an average of 21.00, with two five-wicket hauls and is the second-highest wicket-taker so far. Bumrah has been extremely prolific over last two years or so, winning the 'Player of the Tournament' award during T20 World Cup 2024 for his 15 wickets at an average of 8.26, taking a massive 32 wickets in five Tests during a dissappointing BGT for India in late-2024 to early 2025, even winning the first Test at Perth as a captain. He finished the year 2024 with 86 international wickets in 21 matches at an average of just over 13 and five five-wicket hauls. Speaking ahead of the fourth Test, Indian assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate said about Bumrah as quoted by ESPNCricinfo, "We will make that call (on Bumrah) in Manchester still. We know we have got him for one of the last two Tests. It is pretty obvious that the series on the line now in Manchester so there will be a leaning towards playing him," he added. "But again, we have got to look at all the factors: how many days of cricket are we going to get up there, what do we feel is our best chance of winning that game, and then how that fits in together with The Oval. And looking at the last two games holistically as part of the series," he continued. Pant has been the second-highest run-getter in the series with 425 runs in six innings at an average of 70.83, with two centuries and two fifties. His runs have come at a stunning strike rate of over 78. He faced an injury while wicketkeeping at Lord's. While Dhruv Jurel took up the wicketkeeping duties, Pant batted, scoring 74 and 9 despite his injury. Speaking on Pant, Ten Doeschate sounded hopeful, "He (Pant) will bat in Manchester before the Test. Look, I do not think you are going to keep Rishabh out of the Test no matter what. He batted with quite a lot of pain in the third Test, and it is only going to get easier and easier on his finger. And keeping is obviously the last part of the process to make sure that he can keep. We do not want to go through that again where we have to replace the keeper halfway through innings," he added. The assistant coach also hinted on Jurel, saying, "Jurel's in the equation, but I mean obviously if Rishabh's fit, he plays the next Test and does both," he noted. (ANI)

The temple was abandoned in the 1990s when Kashmiri Pandits left the Valley in the wake of rising militancy in the Kashmir valley. The Chief Secretary, while reviewing different project components at the site, directed the officers to execute the work at a fast pace, strictly adhering to the set timelines and quality standards as envisioned under the project guidelines. He emphasised that the work was aimed at restoring the temple's centuries-old past glory and preserving its cultural and architectural legacy. Mr. Dullu said the temple held significant historical, cultural and religious importance, reflecting Kashmir's diverse cultural society. He said the renovation work would revive and preserve the temple's aesthetic, heritage and social values. The public, particularly members of the Pandit community from various parts of the country, participated in the event to initiate to restoration work and sought blessings from Shri Vachar Sahab. Earlier, the Chief Secretary was apprised that the work on the project is being executed by R&B Srinagar at a cost of ₹4.58 crore, which included conservation and restoration of the main temple structure, earth filling around the temple precincts to restore the site's original topography, construction of an entry gate to provide a formal and aesthetic look, construction of a toilet block, and desilting of the egress channel up to Gilsar Lake to be undertaken by the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. 'This restoration marks an important milestone in the preservation of Kashmir's rich religious and cultural heritage, and the community looks forward to the completion of the project with great reverence,' Amit Raina, a member of the Zaara Foundation, said. The Vishwa Hindu Samaj and the Zaara Foundation welcomed the beginning of the restoration and rebuilding work at the temple. Mr. Labroo, who has identified, revived and restored scores of temples as the Deputy Commissioner of Budgam before, personally toured the Vachar Nag temple and took stock of the work. Mr. Raina described the initiative as 'a significant step to revive an important spiritual and cultural landmark'. In 2024, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya played a pivotal role in ensuring the start of the restoration efforts. He visited the temple site, once considered a hub of militancy in the old city of Srinagar. He had assured Hindu devotees of his commitment to support the temple's restoration. Meanwhile, Mr. Raina thanked J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his personal interest and involvement in facilitating the grant necessary for the temple's renovation.
