'Honeymoon in Shillong': Mumbai film company to shoot a movie based on Indore's Raja Raghuwanshi murder
A feature film based on the shocking murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi is in the works, with a poster unveiled on Tuesday by his brother during a press briefing in Indore. Titled Honeymoon in Shillong, the film will depict the events surrounding Raja's murder during his honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. Murdered by his wife Raja was allegedly killed by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and her accomplices in Sohra, Cherrapunji, during a trek near Wei Sawdong Falls. His body was recovered on 2 June 2025 from a gorge, showing severe head injuries believed to have been caused by a machete. Production team and script details The film will be produced by Varsha TV and Film Production and directed by SP Nimbawat, with casting handled by Akash Sharma. According to Vipin Raghuvanshi, Raja's brother, the storyline aims to reflect the horror and betrayal of the incident. 'I have read the script. The suspense has been maintained. The story stays close to the events that unfolded,' he said. 'While the police and courts are doing their job, this film will also speak the truth. Raja went to Shillong for his honeymoon, and he was killed there. This act tarnished the image of Shillong too,' the family said. 'We only want the truth to be shown,' Vipin added. A contribution to justice, says family They expressed hope that the film would raise public awareness and serve as a contribution to the pursuit of justice. 'The police have done commendable work. The chargesheet is expected to be filed soon, and before Raja's 13th-day rituals, all the accused had been taken into custody. We will share this film with the Meghalaya Police too, it's our way of contributing to justice,' Vipin said. All five remain in judicial custody. Three others accused of aiding the crime or tampering with evidence have also been arrested; some of them have been granted bail. Vipin Raghuvanshi continues to pursue justice and has demanded narco-analysis tests and opposed bail for the accused.
