Modi first PM to restore Ayodhya's glory: CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday credited the 11 years rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 'resurgence of India's cultural heritage', citing 'milestones' such as the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the restoration of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and events like the Maha Kumbh. He said Modi is the first Prime Minister to 'restore Ayodhya's glory'. Addressing a state-level BJP workshop organised in Lucknow on the completion of 11 years of the Modi government, Adityanath urged party workers to actively participate in programmes like the Tiranga Yatra, Ahilyabai Holkar Remembrance, and International Yoga Day. The CM also asked BJP workers to take the 'achievements' of the Central government to every citizen. He said the 11 years of the Modi government's performance form the foundation for realizing the vision of a developed India. 'Workers must play an active role in disseminating these achievements at the state, district, mandal, and Shakti Kendra levels.' Recalling how BJP workers had taken the achievements of the Uttar Pradesh government's 8-year tenure to every booth, the CM said it is now time to do the same at a national level — showcasing both state and central accomplishments. Citing BJP's win in recent Assembly by-elections, he said that coordinated meetings of party departments and cells had proved effective. BJP's six morchas and 22–23 cells represent every segment of society — including lawyers, doctors, teachers, students, and beneficiaries. Organising meetings with these groups and selecting speakers from among them would ensure effective outreach. He encouraged departments and cells to organise conferences with professionals such as doctors and lawyers, and to promote beneficiary success stories through media. He said this campaign will not only promote the BJP, but also help connect the government with every segment of society. A range of programmes are scheduled from June 9 to June 21 at the state, district, mandal, and booth levels. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said India's growing global recognition and strengthening economy are direct results of PM Modi's leadership. He urged workers to communicate the benefits of schemes aimed at villages, the poor, farmers, and women to the broader public.

From reviving religious places to Op Sindoor, govt has been drawing inspiration from Ahilyabai Holkar's life: Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that his 'double-engine' government has been drawing inspiration from 18th-century Maratha queen Ahilyabai Holkar and linked her legacy to the grand revival of spiritual centres like Kashi Vishwanath Dham, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, among others. He also said India's strong reply to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgam terror attack was inspired by the principles of self-defence espoused by the Maratha ruler. Speaking at an event in Agra held under the ongoing 'Punyashlok Lokmata Janma Trishatabdi Varsh Smriti Abhiyan – 2025', the chief minister said: 'During the Mughal period, when foreign invaders destroyed and corrupted the symbols of India's identity and faith, especially the temples, Devi Ahilyabai did the great work of their revival two and a half centuries ago.' 'She renovated many religious places, including Puri's Jagannath Temple, Gaya Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kedarnath Dham, Mahakal Temple, Omkareshwar Temple, Somnath Temple, Bhimashankar Temple, and Rameswaram Temple with her personal funds instead of using state assets… She lived for only 70 years, but her personality remains a beacon of inspiration,' Adityanath said. Adityanath started his speech by addressing Agra as 'Brajbhoomi' and described it as a historical land that was graced by Lord Krishna's presence. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, his wife Sudesh Dhankhar, and Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya also attended the event, organised by Union Minister SP Singh Baghel. Stating that Ahilyabai Holkar's contributions to women, artisans, farmers, youth, security, and India's cultural heritage remain unforgettable and commendable, he said the double-engine government' key welfare schemes, such as Lakhpati Didi, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Matru Vandana Yojana, and the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign draw inspiration from Lokmata's life. He added that Ahilyabai Holkar had empowered the Malwa kingdom with self-defence capabilities—an approach that resonates in India's modern military actions. 'Today, our armed forces strike back with strength, as seen in surgical and air strikes against terrorism. When Pakistan supports terrorists, India responds across the border. Our air force even destroyed their air defense system—this resolve draws inspiration from Lokmata's visionary legacy,' he said. 'When under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the brave Indian jawans destroyed the air defence system of Pakistan through Operation Sindoor… compelled the enemy to bow, it was inspired by the actions and principles of self-defence that the Lokmata espoused during her reign,' Adityanath said, adding that no force can stop a society inspired by its national heroes, and cited Ahilyabai Holkar's life as a shining example. The chief minister also announced that a medical college in Auraiya has been named after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. Hitting out at the previous Samajwadi Party government, Adityanath said: 'In the past, some people used to change the name of the degree college built in her (Holkar's) name, but we are honouring her legacy. Today, the double-engine government has named the medical college in Auraiya after Lokmata.

CM Devendra Fadnavis praises Ahilyabai Holkar, highlights 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and women empowerment

Pune (Maharashtra) [India], May 31 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday, praised the contributions of Ahilyadevi Holkar, calling her a visionary reformer, and drew parallels between her leadership and modern India's progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister also praised India's progress in giving women leadership roles. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said, 'During Operation Sindoor, we saw two women officers giving the briefing, and that was possible because our Prime Minister gave women the status and opportunity to lead from the front-whether in combat operations, warfare, or aviation. Even in those ancient times, Ahilyabai formed an entire battalion of women in her army, gave them training, and ensured security.' Speaking about India's spiritual heritage, Fadnavis said that foreign invaders attacked not only the country but also its culture. Fadnavis said, 'When foreign invaders attacked not just India but also its culture, they knew that India's unity came from its spiritual strength. That is why they tried to destroy it -- whether it was the Ram Temple, the Jyotirlingas, or various Shakti Peeths and inspirational sites. So during that time, Ahilyadevi (Holkar) took the initiative to restore these temples and places of inspiration. She was not limited to her kingdom in Maheshwar or Indore -- she worked everywhere. The unworthy Aurangzeb destroyed many temples during his time, to such an extent that worship had to be done in small, cramped spaces. Ahilyadevi renovated such temples and ghats that had been demolished by the Mughal rulers. The history we were taught makes it seem like the Mughals left and the British arrived, and nothing happened in between. But during that time, rulers like Ahilyadevi existed. Even though she was a queen, she was called 'Punyashlok' (blessed with virtue).' The chief minister will also attend Ahilyabai Holkar's 300th birth anniversary celebrations in Pune, Maharashtra, on Saturday (May 31). Ahilyabai is remembered for her people-centric policies and deep commitment to economic and socio-cultural issues, especially those that affected the lives of women. She encouraged the education of women and their participation in the social and religious life of the local community. She supported and encouraged women weavers to make Maheshwari sarees. Her contributions were wide-ranging, from infrastructure development (water bodies, roads, dharamshalas) to the reconstruction and revival of temples across the length and breadth of the land. The edifices she created have not only left an indelible mark on India's cultural and spiritual landscape but also stood the test of time. Also, while speaking on the alleged irregularities in Ladki Bahin Yojana, the chief minister said, 'When the Ladki Behna Yojana was launched, several people took advantage of it through false applications. But from the beginning, we have been continuously investigating. Those who have taken benefit of the scheme through wrongful means are being identified and removed from the scheme. This action is ongoing, and once it is complete, we will provide a full report.' Earlier this month, on May 4, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut launched a scathing attack on the Maharashtra government, claiming that the Ladki Bahin Yojana has been 'closed down' and accusing the ruling coalition of reneging on election promises. He said that while earlier promises included a payout of Rs 2,100, women are now getting only Rs 500. The Uddhav Thackeray-led faction has consistently criticised the Mahayuti-led Maharashtra government over the scheme's implementation. Party leader Aaditya Thackeray called it a 'shameless policy' that undermines the very promises made during elections. The Ladki Behen Scheme aims to provide financial assistance to eligible women across the state. However, UBT leaders alleged that the government is deliberately trying to lower the number of beneficiaries, raising concerns about its commitment to women's welfare and fulfilling electoral promises.
