Ramchander Rao lashes out at Revanth over his ‘converted BC' remarks on Modi

Hyderabad: Mounting a vitriolic attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Telangana State BJP chief N Ramachander Rao questioned how Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, with a Parsi grandfather and a Catholic mother, could claim to be a 'Janudhari Brahmin' while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is labeled a 'converted BC'? In a chit chat with the media on Friday, Ramachandra Rao claimed that the Telangana Chief Minister might be under the illusion of having invented a new category, referring to 'converted BC.' He criticized the Congress party for being willing to stoop to any low for the sake of power, emphasizing the need for civilized political discourse. Rao noted that Modi's community was included in the list of OBCs by the Gujarat State BC Commission long before Modi entered politics. Various communities have been recognized by their respective State BC Commissions over the years. According to him, the Chief Minister's rhetoric constitutes not only a personal attack on Modi but also an insult to everyone included in the BC category, exposing the Congress party's anti-Backward Classes mindset. Ramachander Rao highlighted that the BJP supports the state government's policy of 42 percent reservations for BCs, but the responsibility for its implementation lies with the Congress-led government in Telangana. He listed several cases related to the Supreme Court's 50 percent reservations cap, indicating that incorporating this cap under Schedule IX is subject to judicial review. He also mentioned that the BJP opposes religion-based reservations, clarifying that the party is not against Muslims. He pointed out that Muslims have already been provided reservations under the BC-E and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) categories. Besides, Congress seeks to provide an additional 10 percent reservation for Muslims across the community. Rao reminded that it was during the BJP-led NDA government that separate SC and ST Commissions and Ministries were created at the national level. Furthermore, it was the BJP government under PM Modi that granted constitutional status to the OBC Commission. He highlighted that the BJP has an OBC Morcha, has appointed a BC Prime Minister, and has given more opportunities to BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities than the Congress party. Regarding Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's support for former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatraya for the Vice President position, Ramachandra Rao dared the Chief Minister to step down and appoint Minister Ponnam Prabhakar or the Pradesh Congress chief as the Chief Minister to prove his and his party's commitment to BC interests. Ramachander Rao announced that a new state party committee would be formed in the next week. He urged leaders and party workers to work diligently to strengthen the BJP and to focus on the mission of bringing the party to power in Telangana. In response to a question, he stated that the national party would address any differences among party leaders privately, emphasizing that the BJP is like a family and that it is better to resolve issues internally rather than airing grievances in public.

State BJP chief urges lawyers to come forward for a change in TG

Hyderabad: State BJP president N. Ramachandra Rao said that lawyers should again come forward in the state, as the time has come to fight anti-people policies and wage a just agitation. Addressing the felicitation event organised by the BJP legal cell on Saturday, he urged, 'let us work together to bring a BJP government in Telangana.' Lawyers are always leaders in movements. They have the power to change the social and political awareness of society. Therefore, if we want to bring awareness among the people again, lawyers are important. He said the Congress government, which is ruling with anti-people policies, should be thrown out. Asserting that he wants to work hard to bring the BJP government to Telangana, he recalled his association with lawyers. He said, 'I have very close relations with lawyers.' In United AP, once I saw 100 reserve policemen destroying a shop in Tarnaka in 1993. 'I interfered in it, and in response, they lathi-charged me, arrested me, and filed a case. Seriously injured in the police attack, I received treatment in the hospital for almost two months. A major operation took place.' Further, at that time, lawyers in united Andhra Pradesh boycotted the courts for 43 days. 'Even though I was personally against the boycott, another senior lawyer, including me, condemned the police brutality; he called for a boycott among the lawyers. Ultimately, we were able to get the Judicial Commission appointed,' he added. Then the lawyers fought for me. That's why he considers the lawyers' community as his family. If lawyers resolve, anything is possible. He stressed that helping the BJP is an important thing for Telangana. He said that without the BJP's support, Telangana would not have been formed, and it is history. He recalled the key role of lawyers in the process of passing the Telangana Bill in Parliament without legal issues. 'If Telangana is to be transformed into a developed state', it is possible only with the BJP, he said.

Ramchander Rao ups the ante against Congress and Kharge

Hyderabad: On his very first day as the Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit chief, N Ramachander Rao strongly criticized the Congress and its recently held 'Samajika Nyaya Samara Bheri' meeting, which was anchored by AICC chief Mallikarjuna the senior leader of BJP paid tributes at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial. He then led a colourful procession to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan, the BJP's state headquarters, where he formally assumed charge in the presence of party leaders and supporters. Addressing the media later, he stated that the Congress had failed to consider the needs of people during its 50 years of governance. "The public, fed up with the corrupt rule of the Congress, has defeated the party three times in a row, demanding a Congress-mukt Bharat. While the BJP works for the people, the Congress works for power and corruption," he observed. Deploring the Congress, he remarked that 'AICC' stands for the 'All India Cheating Committee'. He said that the Congress party in the state had been encountering significant opposition from the public shortly after assuming power—something no other party had experienced so quickly. He predicted that in the upcoming elections to local bodies, people would send a strong message to the Congress. Regarding the Congress's claim that it would win 100 MLA and 15 MP seats in the next Assembly and parliamentary elections respectively, he commented that perhaps the Congress leaders misspoke and actually intended to say that the BJP would achieve these numbers. Ramachandra Rao expressed his confidence that in the coming days, people of Telangana would chant slogans like "Congress- mukt Bharat," emphasizing that the BJP would mount a just fight against the Congress government for deceiving the public. He decried that Telangana, once a prosperous state, had been reduced to a state of begging under the Congress now and BRS earlier. However, he asserted that the BJP would work unitedly to bring the party to power in the state, contesting all positions in the elections to local bodies, from ward members to ZPTCs, and winning the most seats. The state BJP chief stated that the BJP was growing stronger and was certain to come to power in Telangana soon. He said that terms like "secularism" and "socialism" were introduced after the Emergency imposed by the then Congress regime. He claimed that the Congress had intertwined these concepts with religious politics, violating the rights of the people. Ramachandra Rao emphasized that the Modi government was dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized, adding 'Prime Minister Modi comes from a backward class'. More than half of the Chief Ministers in BJP-ruled states belong to Backward Classes. Ramachandra Rao highlighted that the BJP was gaining special support in rural areas. With victories in the last Assembly elections, when they won eight MLA and 8 MP seats, along with 3 seats in the recent MLC elections, the party was showing signs of strengthening, which is reflected in its steadily increasing vote share across the state. The BJP chief accused the Congress government of betraying the Backward Classes, stating that it had no genuine plan for ensuring 42 per cent reservation in elections to local bodies. It had merely made promises to divert attention from the BJP. He pointed out that the BJP supported the BC bill for 42 per cent reservation, and now it would implement its promise. Ramachandra Rao contested claims that the state was facing a shortage of urea and said that under PM Modi, the Centre had allocated 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana -- 2 lakh metric tonnes more than what the state requires. He blamed the Congress-led state government for not supplying urea to farmers in time. He dared the Congress to debate the urea supply issue and disclose what they had done with the stocks received. Finally, he pointed out that the Congress government had pledged to provide 2 lakh jobs annually. With 1.3 lakh job vacancies remaining when the BRS government yielded power to the Congress, he questioned why the Congress government had not filled these positions. He reiterated that the Modi government had allocated Rs. 12 lakh crore for the development of Telangana and invited the Congress to debate this allocation.
