Telangana govt diverting urea supplied by Centre, alleges Ramchander
HYDERABAD: BJP state chief N Ramchander Rao on Thursday accused the state government of diverting urea which he claimed the Centre disbursed to Telangana, and demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter. Addressing the media on Thursday after participating in the Har Ghar Tiranga rally at Necklace Road, Ramchander Rao said the Centre had allocated and supplied urea as per state requirements, even increasing the quantity compared to last year. He alleged that the ruling Congress had diverted urea instead of transporting it to fertiliser shops. Ramchander Rao demanded that the state government either conduct a probe into the shortage or allow a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry. He claimed the shortage was artificially created and criticised the BRS party's statements on the matter. Meanwhile, the state BJP president said that in Telangana alone, the national flag would be hoisted at 40 lakh homes as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga programme, which he described as an initiative to promote unity, integrity and patriotism.

Telangana BJP chief placed under house arrest
HYDERABAD: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest by the Osmania University police on Tuesday to prevent him from visiting the demolished Peddamma Temple site in MLA Colony, Banjara Hills. Hindu activists, BJP leaders and members of other organisations called for a Kumkumarchana programme at the site, leading to tension in the area. Police detained Ramchander Rao as a preventive measure. The BJP leader was originally scheduled to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga Yatra programme in Secunderabad and Goshamahal Assembly constituency. Reacting to his detention, Ramchander Rao expressed surprise, stating that local devotees had been demanding the temple's reconstruction and some had planned a pooja at the site. He accused the police of unfairly targeting him and preventing him from participating in a Hindu religious event and alleged that the Congress government was suppressing Hindu activists even though the BJP was not directly involved in the issue. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar took a serious exception to Ramchander Rao's house arrest, accusing the Congress government of adopting the same oppressive tactics as the previous BRS regime did. Mahbubnagar MP and BJP national vice-president DK Aruna also condemned the arrest.

BJP's Ramchander Rao seeks CBI probe into Kaleshwaram ‘scam'; pushes for new irrigation project
ADILABAD: BJP state president N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged corruption in the execution of Kaleshwaram project. During his visit to Sirpur-Khagaznagar in Kumurambheem Asifabad district, he pushed for a separate irrigation project at Tummadihatti to address water scarcity in the region. He emphasised the need for a new project following the realignment of the Pranahita-Chevella scheme, which would provide water to 2.5 lakh acres. He proposed constructing the project at the confluence of the Wardha and Wainganga rivers near Tummadihatti, urging the state government to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submit it to the Centre for approval. Ramchander Rao alleged that the previous BRS government had misused public funds in the Kaleshwaram project, leading to structural failures like the Medigadda barrage cracks. He accused the KCR family of treating the project as an 'ATM' and siphoning off crores. Despite the National Dam Safety Authority exposing design flaws, Rao questioned why only officials -- and not politicians or contractors -- had been arrested, hinting at a possible Congress-BRS nexus. Criticising Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for his frequent Delhi visits and administrative neglect, Ramchander Rao claimed the Congress government had failed farmers and the public. He dismissed both Congress and BRS as 'two sides of the same coin,' advocating for a BJP 'double-engine' government to ensure development. Rao listed Central initiatives like free rice (5 kg/person), Ayushman Bharat, and `5 lakh medical coverage, accusing the state of withholding PM Modi's photo on ration cards 'out of jealousy'.

Telangana BJP dismisses Congress protest in Delhi as ‘political stunt'
The Telangana BJP has dismissed the Congress party's dharna over BC quota in New Delhi as a 'political stunt' that failed to attract public support or endorsement of senior Congress leaders, including national president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao, chief spokesperson N.V. Subash, and other leaders, issued separate statements questioning the absence of top Congress leadership, and calling the 'much-publicised' protest a 'damp squib'. The BJP accused the ruling party of betraying BCs by allocating 10% of the promised 42% quota to Muslims, alleging it was a move driven by 'appeasement politics'. The leaders also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them 'petty politics'. They questioned why the CM had not given greater representation to BCs in his Cabinet or offered the CM post to a BC leader. Mr. Kishan Reddy asserted that it was the Congress party's responsibility to fulfill its promise of providing quota to BCs, and warned that shifting the blame to BJP would not be tolerated. Mr. Sanjay Kumar alleged that the protest was aimed at securing quota for Muslims rather than BCs. Mr. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress of insincerity in implementing the BC quota and said that the party was making baseless allegations against the Modi government to deflect attention from its own failures. He added that BJP is willing to cooperate with Congress if it commits to granting the full 42% quota to BCs only. Mr. Subash described the protest in the national capital as a 'poorly-executed political gimmick'.

BJP president questions govt. for not acting against politicians, contractors responsible for Kaleshwaram project lapses
The BJP has claimed that the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission appointed to probe into the controversial Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme had revealed only a 'few facts', hence it warranted a full fledged investigation by the CBI to ferret out the entire truth, on Wednesday. Telangana State party president and former MLC N. Ramchander Rao also questioned why the Congress government has not arrested 'politicians' and 'contractors' involved in the project construction and maintenance lapses after arresting 'some officials' only. 'It is because of a nexus between the ruling Congress and BRS' he asked, while addressing the media at Sirpur Kagaznagar in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district as part of his ongoing tour. Mr. Rao has asserted that the party has never opposed projects that benefits the farmers but had opposed the corruption in Kaleshwaram project. The BRS leaders, including former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and family, had used the project as an 'ATM' and misused thousands of crores of rupees, he alleged. Poor quality of construction has led to cracks in the Medigadda barrage and other works. The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) had clearly pointed out to the design flaws and quality deficiencies, said the BJP leader. The former MLC also wanted the State government to consider construction of a separate project at the confluence of Wardha and Wainganga rivers near Tummadihatti to solve the water shortage of the region and irrigate about 2.5 lakh acres. If the Congress government prepares a detailed project report (DPR) and sends the same to the Central government for approval, there would be total cooperation, he said. The BJP leader said the Congress government is no different from the previous regime and has been diverting the funds disbursed by the Centre for development of villages for other purposes. The Centre is prepared to approve an airport in Asifabad district if the State government provides the land, he assured and explained that national highway projects worth ₹3,900 crore have been initiated in the area. Replying to a question on 'Operation Akarsh' the BJP chief said politicians are 'voluntarily' approaching the party since they consider it to be the only alternative in Telangana.
