Shedeur Sanders could be traded to Matthew Stafford's Los Angeles Rams

(Image via Getty Images: Shedeur Sanders) On July 16, Hunter Cookston of Sporting News reported that Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders could be traded to the Los Angeles Rams. But he mentioned it under one condition. That condition was NFL Analyst Emmanuel Acho labelling him as a camp body. Acho said, 'The reality for Shedeur Sanders is that, as a fifth-round pick, it rarely matters how talented you are. You may never even get the opportunity to win the starting job. Sometimes, as a fifth, sixth, or seventh-round pick, they are already cutting you. You are a camp body. You are there for training camp.' How would Shedeur Sanders learn from Los Angeles Rams star quarterback Matthew Stafford? Mark Sipos of Dawg Pound Daily wrote that Matthew Stafford is still capable of playing the signal caller for the Los Angeles Rams. But the Rams don't have a clear succession plan in place for him. Shedeur Sanders could be that successor for him. He could learn a lot from Sean McVay's system. And, ultimately, grow into a potential starting quarterback for the Rams. Sipos further stated that Sanders' timing-based game and quick release align with the Rams' scheme. Also, since Stafford's taking the reins, there would be no pressure on the rookie to play early. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Learning from the veteran QB could be in place for the rookie. Plus, Stafford has been pushing himself as the Rams' starting QB for far too long now. The 37-year-old even played with broken ribs last year. Having a rookie QB back him up would give him the rest he needs and the confidence Rams need. Shedeur Sanders tweets 'time will tell' amidst trade rumors When everybody is analyzing who would pick the fifth-round 144th overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders is keeping calm. On July 14, he tweeted a cryptic post on his X account, 'time will tell 🤫' - requesting everyone to have patience and keep mum. But the X users could not keep calm. They had their views ready. One fan completed Sanders' statement of 'Time will tell' with - 'that you shouldn't have even been drafted. ' Another user did not want to second-guess his stay with the Cleveland Browns, 'QB1. 😤🔥.' A third fan wished the best for him, 'Keep grinding, keep growing and, keep going. Prove yourself right and, your doubters wrong.' A fourth fan further motivated him, 'I'm just waiting for you to land somewhere permanent so I can get that jersey.' A fifth user commented, 'Stay focused nephew keep the main thing the main thing.' Jared Goff Gets Called 'Soft' by Former NFL LB After Complaint About Rams Trade

Jared Goff Gets Called 'Soft' by Former NFL LB After Complaint About Rams Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jared Goff claimed betrayal when reflecting back on his widely publicized Los Angeles Rams trade of 2021. Which he dove back into during the newest season of Netflix's "Quarterback." Advertisement One former Pro Bowl linebacker, however, put the Detroit Lions star quarterback on blast for those comments. Even calling him "soft" with an expletive lumped in his reaction. Lavar Arrington ripped Goff for his words during his Fox Sports Radio appearance. The three-time Pro Bowler believes Goff needs to see the bigger picture when it comes to league transactions. "Quarterbacks must have an alternate reality than other players," Arrington said on Fox Sports Radio. "You felt you were 'blindsided' by it? That happens to players every day." Arrington knows from experience what it's like to bolt from teams. He had a widely publicized falling out with Washington before signing with the rival New York Giants. Advertisement He still took issue with Goff feeling unwanted by the Rams -- who swapped him for Matthew Stafford in that blockbuster 2021 deal. 'You felt like you weren't wanted? They didn't want you. That's why they traded you," Arrington explained. "If they wanted you, you wouldn't be traded. So you felt like, what, that you were blindsided by it? That happens to players every single day.' The linebacker wasn't through ripping Goff. Calling him a "soft mother f'ers" in his rants. "This is business," Arrington stated. Goff since rebuilt himself by turning the Lions into a perennial NFC North championship contender. But count Arrington as someone not pleased with his now public words about the Rams fallout. Rams Fans Buzzing Over Matthew Stafford's Change in Appearance originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Los Angeles Rams are scheduled to unofficially open the 2025-26 NFL season with an August 9 preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys at SoFi Stadium, which will mark the 17th season in the brilliant career of quarterback Matthew Stafford. Advertisement Stafford, now 37 years old, led the Rams to a playoff appearance and win over the Minnesota Vikings last season and threw for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions during the regular season. On Monday, the Rams' Facebook account published a new picture of Stafford headed into his 17th season that had fans reacting with sharp commentary in the comments section. Fans went to town in the comments section as they discussed Stafford's change in looks over the years. Advertisement "I love him but he needs a haircut," one person said. "Looked like (comedian) Nate Bargatze in year one," another said. "He looks 10X better," another said. "Super Bowl bound." "Leaving Detroit and getting a ring will do that for you," another said. "Young gun to Top Gun," another said. "Aging well," another added. "Leaner and meaner," another said with a laughing and crying emoji. Stafford and the Rams have a Gates Open practice scheduled for July 24, kicking off what should be an intense time of offseason preparation. Puka Nacua feels like 'a kid in the candy store' learning from Davante Adams

With Tutu Atwell re-signed and Adams now in the fold, Nacua sees big things ahead. Two seasons ago, Puka Nacua entered the league as a fifth-round pick and taking him under his wing was former Los Angeles Rams great Cooper Kupp. Fast forward two seasons and multiple records later, with Kupp now in Seattle, Nacua – despite already being one of the league's brightest stars – is thrilled to be embracing the role of student again while playing alongside his new mentor, Davante Adams. 'It's definitely gonna be different,' Nacua said during an appearance on The Insiders this week. 'Davante, as soon as he stepped into the facility, has been fantastic. The ability to learn the game from another all-time great, I feel like I'm stealing. I'm like a kid in the candy store.' Every young receiver dreams of not only playing opposite elite counterparts but also having one of the league's top arms. Having brilliant football minds to help pave the way for what is set up to become one of the most exciting passing attacks that fans will be treated to this season helps, too. 'I've had Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay, Cooper Kupp, and now Davante Adams. My life is pretty good, I can't complain too much,' he added. The Rams' receiver room is going through a quiet transformation. Tutu Atwell was re-signed for his speed earlier this offseason, and the front office added Adams, a future Hall of Famer and one of the league's premier route technicians, to guide a rising offense. It's a blend of explosiveness, precision, and mentorship that's already having a big impact on Nacua. Nacua said 'route running" when asked what's jumped out about Adams. 'His ability to change pace while he's moving on the football field, the ability to win against negative leverage, his suddenness at the line of scrimmage, it's fantastic to see. And to be able to see it in person and be lining up right next to him, it makes sure you have all the gas turned on when you're going out there with No. 17.' That 'gas' and the hunger to learn are what's kept Nacua rising. Even with 2,476 yards and nine touchdowns under his belt in 28 games, he's still wide-eyed when he walks onto the practice field. Not just because of the talent around him, but because of who's also throwing the ball. 'I can't wait to see the guys,' Nacua said. 'I just want to see Matthew Stafford spin it. That's my favorite part of the day. As soon as that first practice comes out and you see that ball spinning right, I'm like, ah, things will be well in the world.' With training camp just around the corner, expectations are building again in Los Angeles, and for good reason. The Rams have star power, leadership, and momentum that had them just two wins away from a Super Bowl appearance last season. And with Nacua still playing sponge, soaking up every ounce of wisdom from the veterans around him, this offense might be just getting started.

Rams' 25 most important players for 2025 – No. 7: RB Kyren Williams

Kyren Williams has exceeded all expectations as a former fifth-round pick, becoming one of the most productive backs in football after just three years in the league. The Los Angeles Rams star has scored 31 total touchdowns since the start of the 2023 season, tied for the most of any player in the NFL – and that's with playing the fewest games (28) of any player in the top 15. While perhaps not the most explosive or dynamic running back, Williams makes the Rams much better when he's healthy and on the field. It's why he's near the top of our list of the 25 most important players on the Rams' roster heading into 2025. How he got here Williams was the 164th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, entering the league as a fifth-rounder out of Notre Dame. The Rams saw him as a potential playmaker after a productive career with the Irish and if not for injuries during his rookie year, he might've gotten a chance to contribute right away in his first season. 2024 stats 16 games (16 starts): 316 carries, 1,299 yards, 14 touchdowns, 34 receptions, 182 yards receiving, 2 touchdowns Projected role Though Williams may face some competition from Blake Corum and Jarquez Hunter, he's still in line to be the starting running back. Rams RBs coach Ron Gould said Williams improved his explosiveness this season, which is encouraging to hear, but Corum and Hunter could eat into his carries a little bit if the big plays don't come early in the season. As long as Williams keeps playing the way he has in the last two years, he'll continue getting 15-plus carries a game. He's the definition of a workhorse, toting it 544 times since the start of 2023 alone, taking on a massive workload in the backfield – and that's without even accounting for his pass-blocking snaps. Why he's important When Williams is on the field, the Rams are 18-10 in the regular season since 2023. In the 4 games he missed due to injury, they were 1-3, all coming in the 2023 campaign. He's valuable to the entire operation of the offense, not just from a rushing perspective. He's fairly reliable in pass protection, is always willing to grind out the tough yards in short-yardage situations and has good enough hands to catch passes out of the backfield. There's certainly room for improvement but when Williams is on the field, the Rams are a better team. He's scored 31 touchdowns in the last two years alone, which means he's put up a lot of points for the Rams, making up for some of their red zone struggles through the air.
