India Batter From Mumbai Out Of England Tour Due To Thumb Fracture, Flies Back Home For Treatment

In a significant setback for the Mumbai Emerging Team, their opening batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of the ongoing England tour after sustaining a thumb injury. The promising Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter suffered a minor fracture to his right thumb and has returned to India to undergo treatment. The Mumbai Emerging Team, captained by Suryansh Shedge, began their month-long tour of England on June 28. Organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), the tour is designed to give young cricketers the chance to develop their skills and gain valuable exposure in overseas playing conditions. According to a report by the Times of India, the MCA has not yet named a replacement for Raghuvanshi in the touring squad. The young opener's withdrawal was due to what has been described as a slight fracture sustained during the team's time in England. More On Young Lad Angkrish Raghuvanshi has rapidly made a name for himself as one of Mumbai's most promising young cricketers, with notable performances in both domestic cricket and the IPL. At just 21 years old, he has already played 22 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 463 runs at an average close to 29. He also had a significant role with the SoBo Mumbai Falcons, helping guide the team to the final, although his 2025 season was relatively quieter in terms of personal statistics. The current Mumbai squad in England consists of experienced players from the Ranji Trophy circuit and is supported by a six-member support staff. The tour is being managed by MCA treasurer Arman Mallick, while coaching duties are led by former Mumbai cricketer Kiran Powar. As of now, no detailed statement has been issued by the MCA regarding Raghuvanshi's injury or identifying any circumstances surrounding the incident. Further clarification from the association is still awaited. Mumbai Emerging Team Squad: Suryansh Shedge (Captain), Vedant Murkar (Vice-Captain), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (injured), Ayush Vartak, Ayush Zimare, Himanshu Singh, Manan Bhatt, Musheer Khan, Nikhil Giri, Pragnesh Kanpillewar, Pratik Yadav, Prem Devkar, Rishikesh Gore, Harsh Aghav, Harshal Jadhav, Prince Badiani, Zaid Patankar. This injury comes as a disappointment for both the player and the team, given Raghuvanshi's growing reputation and the importance of such tours in developing young talent for future national representation.

Ruturaj Gaikwad pulls out of Yorkshire deal citing personal reasons

India middle-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has opted out of the final part of the County Championship for Yorkshire citing "personal reasons". The 28-year-old had agreed to a five-game deal, starting with the match against reigning champions Surrey at Scarborough from July 22. But Yorkshire confirmed in a statement that Gaikwad would not be available. Gaikwad was due to debut at North Marine Road on Tuesday against the reigning champions and remain with Yorkshire until the end of the season. Yorkshire head coach Anthony McGrath said the county are assessing their options regarding a replacement, but there are other things to contend with as well ahead of the 10th round clash. "Unfortunately Gaikwad's not coming now for personal reasons," said McGrath. "We're not going to have him for Scarborough or for the rest of the season. So that's disappointing. I can't tell you anything about the reasons why, but we hope that everything's ok. We've literally just found out. "We're working behind the scenes on what we can do. But it's only two or three days away, so I'm not sure what we can do at the moment. We're working to try and get a possible replacement, but time pressure is the issue. I can't give you anything more than that at the moment." Gaikwad, who captains Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League and Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy, has played six ODIs and 23 T20s. But he just played five games in this year's IPL after suffering an elbow injury.

Mohammed Shami included in Bengal's probables list for upcoming domestic season

New Delhi: India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been included in Bengal's 50-man probables list for the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season after being left out of India's squad for the ongoing tour of England due to injury concerns. The 34-year-old has not played any competitive cricket since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, where he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad but was far from his level best and his last outing for India was in the 2025 Champions Trophy winning campaign, where he was tied with Varun Chakaravarthy as the side's highest wicket-taker, with joint nine scalps to their names. Shami's injury concerns first arose after India's 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, where he ended as the tournament's highest wicket-taker with 24 dismissals, as he underwent ankle surgery. Shami marked a successful return to competitive cricket, leading Bengal to an 11-run victory against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Shami took seven wickets in the match and scored a crucial 37 runs, proving instrumental in Bengal's win. The 34-year-old made a successful international return when featuring in the four white-ball fixtures for India against England in 2024. Shami was not selected for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series squad after chief selector Ajit Agarkar cleared the air by stating that he was not fit for the series, leaving a big void in India's fast bowling scheme of things in England. Shami's last Test was the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June 2023 and he hasn't had a chance to play Tests again. Agarkar revealed, while announcing the squad for England, that Shami's fitness issues and inability to be fit for the Test match bowling workload meant he missed out on selection. Abhimanyu Easwaran, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar, Shahbaz Ahmed and Abishek Porel are a few of the names in the 50-man probables list released by Bengal.

Star India Batter Opts Out Of England Stint Citing Personal Reasons

Last Updated: Star India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has withdrawn from Yorkshire's County Championship campaign for personal reasons. Star India batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has pulled out of the County Championship deal with Yorkshire, whom he was supposed to join for the final phase of the prestigious red-ball competition in England. Gaikwad had agreed to a five-match deal, beginning with the match against defending champions Surrey at Scarborough from July 22. But in a short statement, the team confirmed that he wouldn't be playing for Yorkshire for personal reasons. Gaikwad, who leads the Chennai Super Kings in IPL and Maharashtra in the Ranji Trophy, has played six ODIs and 23 T20Is for India. But he just managed five matches in IPL 2025 as he suffered an elbow injury. 'Unfortunately, Gaikwad's not coming now for personal reasons. We're not going to have him for Scarborough or the rest of the season. So that's disappointing. I can't tell you anything about the reasons why, but we hope that everything's ok," Yorkshire coach Anthony McGrath said. Gaikwad was named in the India A team for their two games with the England Lions earlier this year, but didn't feature in either. Gaikwad led Chennai in their first five matches, of which they lost four, before an elbow injury ruled him out of the season, with former India captain MS Dhoni taking over as skipper. Gaikwad suffered the injury during Chennai's game against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Sunday, March 30. Gaikwad was struck on his unprotected elbow after stepping out to pacer Tushar Deshpande and missing the delivery in the second over of Chennai's unsuccessful chase, but continued batting and scored 63 in that match. Gaikwad played two more matches after that and made just five runs against the Delhi Capitals at home on April 5 and just one run against the Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on April 8. Chennai finished a disappointing last in IPL 2025, in one of their worst performances in 18 years. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
