Chiefs Rashee Rice Slapped With New Lawsuit

Chiefs Rashee Rice Slapped With New Lawsuit originally appeared on Athlon Sports. At OTAs this week, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked to evaluate wide receiver Rashee Rice. Said Mahomes, "He looks like Rashee ... explosive and fast." Advertisement He was talking about Rice on the football field. But the same can be said about him behind the wheel of a car on a freeway. While he continues to return from a torn LCL suffered in Week 4 last season, Rice has been slapped with another lawsuit stemming from his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas in March 2024. Rice and Teddy Knox — teammates at SMU — already faced a lawsuit filed by two people who allege they suffered multiple injuries, including brain trauma and internal bleeding. The new lawsuit was filed in Dallas County this month by a woman who alleges that she and her son were heading home when their vehicle was hit in the high-speed crash. "Rice and Knox maneuvered to illegally pass traffic on the left side of the road in an emergency lane and hit a median," the lawsuit states. "The high speeds of their vehicles caused a rotation that demolished cars in their path and set off a high-speed chain reaction of other cars being struck and spun into each other. The resulting chain reaction of violent collisions impacted the vehicle in which the Plaintiff was traveling with her minor son." Advertisement The woman alleges in the lawsuit that people involved in the crash and other bystanders tried to speak to Rice and Knox after the crash, but they left the scene on foot. Says the filing, "Defendants leaving the scene of the collision was a conscious decision to ignore the welfare of those harmed by their grossly negligent conduct in favor of hiding their level of intoxication from activities earlier in the afternoon." The woman is claiming injuries, physical trauma and emotional/mental damage, and is seeking between $250,000 and $1 million. Rice was driving a Lamborghini leased through a Fort Worth-based company that day, and Knox was driving a Corvette leased in Rice's name, police said. They drove on U.S. 75 at speeds in excess of 110 mph when they lost control, causing a chain-reaction crash that involved a total of six vehicles, according to police. Advertisement Rice admitted to driving the Lamborghini and turned himself in to police two weeks later. He faces eight felony charges in connection with the crash – six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault. Knox faced the same charges and was suspended from the SMU football team following the crash. Controversial Chiefs star Rashee Rice hit with $1million lawsuit

Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been hit with a third lawsuit over a 119mph car crash in Dallas last year. The Super Bowl winner is accused of 'outrageous conduct' after he allegedly drove his Lamborghini Urus at nearly 120mph before causing a six-vehicle crash on a highway in Texas. He faces eight criminal charges including aggravated assault and Rice has now been sued once more over the crash. Kayla Quinn claims that both she suffered physical, mental and emotional trauma from the wreck, which occurred when she and her son were driving home from the Dallas Zoo. Quinn is now seeking between $250,000 and $1million in the lawsuit filed against Rice and former SMU football star Theodore Knox, who is alleged to have been racing Rice in a Corvette at speeds of up to 116mph. According to reports, Rice told police that he lost control of his Lamborghini, sparking the six-car collision. The lawsuit claims that both Rice and Knox had consumed alcohol before the crash. 'Defendants and their passengers exited their exotic "supercars," gathered their belongings and briskly walked past their victims up an exit ramp and left the scene of the collision,' the complaint states. 'In so doing, Defendants had the opportunity to witness the damage to the other vehicles and the visibly injured operators and passengers in other vehicles that were in plain sight. 'Despite these innocent victims calling for emergency help and desperately trying to exit their damaged vehicles in a state of shock.' The lawsuit continues: 'Defendants intentionally and knowingly evaded assisting those injured by their outrageous conduct and absconded from the scene. 'The victims and bystanders tried to engage the Defendants, but they were ignored as the Defendants fled to avoid responsibility.' Two other victims of the crash, Edvard Petrovskiy and Irina Gromova, previously sued Rice and Knox for $10million.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jalen Royals reveals the wideouts he watches most in the NFL

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals in the fourth round with the 133rd pick in last weekend's draft, adding a dynamic playmaking receiver for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On Saturday, he spoke with reporters at rookie camp and shared his mindset for the weekend and players he admired watching in the NFL. "I try to watch everybody. (Rams WR) Davante Adams, (Eagles WR) A.J. Brown, the big receivers," said Royals, "You try to piggyback off what they do and try to implement that into my game." Advertisement During the 2024 season, Royals was named second-team All-Mountain West. He led Utah State with 55 receptions, 834 receiving yards, and tallied six touchdowns while starting seven games. He listed some of the top receivers in the game today, but understands the hard work ahead of him starting this weekend at Rookie camp. "Just taking it one step at a time, taking it day-by-day," said Royals, "I know it's the first day, but just trying to come in and work and take it step-by-step." Royals has garnered comparisons to starting receiver Rashee Rice for their similar play, as he hopes to mirror his production on the field in 2025. Chiefs rookie Jalen Royals is the future at WR for Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs landed one of the biggest steals of the 2025 NFL draft when they selected Utah State wide receiver Jalen Royals at the back end of the fourth round. Royals might struggle to establish himself in a crowded wide receiver room as a rookie, but he projects as a massive part of Kansas City's future plans. Fans must remain realistic with their expectations for Royals' rookie season. He's a fourth round selection joining a room with three established playmakers and multiple fringe contributors. No one should panic if Royals turns in a quiet year because opportunities to break out loom on the horizon. Advertisement Marquise Brown, Jason Brownlee, Travis Kelce, Skyy Moore, Nikko Remigio, Justyn Ross, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton are all free agents after the upcoming season. The Chiefs have the opportunity to completely reset their depth at their pass catching positions and redistribute the offense's targets. Additionally, only two years remain on Rashee Rice's cost-effective rookie contract. If the Chiefs take any inspiration from how the Pittsburgh Steelers handled George Pickens, they might offload Rice for picks or just let him walk. Either way, it seems unlikely an extension is coming for the former star rookie, considering lingering maturity concerns. All of this potential turnover clears the way for Royals to star alongside Xavier Worthy as Patrick Mahomes' top targets going into 2026 or 2027. Royals offers the athletic blend to fill multiple roles in Kansas City's offense. He's an explosive athlete with the burst to stack cornerbacks early in routes and the long speed to finish big plays in the end zone. Royals deploys some excellent route fakes and manipulates the cornerback's leverage with his route stem to create favorable space. Advertisement Royals is much more than just a vertical threat. He's roughly the same size as Rice, although the rookie might not offer as much contact balance. Royals still provides excellent value on short, schemed touches. His acceleration and speed make him a threat to turn shallow crossing routes or slants into big gains. Rice received most of the offense's low-depth targets in 2024. Chiefs fans shouldn't expect splashy numbers from Royals in 2025 but should feel excited about the organization's long-term plans for the rookie.
