Chiefs bid farewell to St. Joseph after final training camp practice ended on Wednesday
The Kansas City Chiefs officially bid farewell to St. Joseph, Missouri, in a video that was posted to Twitter on Wednesday, August 13, after the team conducted its final training camp practice session. The defending AFC champions are set to face the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field in a preseason exhibition on Friday, August 15, after losing to the Arizona Cardinals last week. Some of Kansas City's biggest stars and training camp standouts were featured in the tribute video, including wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Take a look at the team's heartfelt goodbye to St. Joseph, which was featured on the Chiefs' official Twitter account: While the team's time at Missouri Western State University has come to an end, the valuable hours of preparation that Kansas City's players accumulated in St. Joseph are sure to pay dividends when the Chiefs' regular season campaign begins next month. Chiefs Receive Good News on Rashee Rice on Monday
Chiefs Receive Good News on Rashee Rice on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs are looking to get back to the Super Bowl for the fourth straight season. Kansas City went on an incredible run in 2024, defeating the Houston Texans and the Buffalo Bills in the postseason before losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Despite their sucess, the Chiefs missed the contribution of wide receiver Rashee Rice. The talented receiver suffered a season-ending knee injury, playing four games in his second season in the league. Last week, Rice suffered a groin injury that caused him to miss a couple of days of practice. On Monday, Rice made his return. While the extent of the groin injury has yet to be reported, the presence of Rice is a great sign for Reid and the coaching staff. Rice proved to be one of the best players on the offensive side of the ball for Kansas City last season in the limited time he was available. This year, he'll be playing alongside one of the most talented units the Chiefs have fielded in years with receivers Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Xavier Worthy. But how much Rice will be able to be on the field this season is very much in doubt. Last month, he pleaded guilty to two third-degree felonies for his role in a high-speed car crash on a Dallas highway in March 2024, and he was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days in jail. The NFL is widely expected to suspend Rice for multiple games at some point this year. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Patrick Mahomes sends ominous warning to the NFL from inside Kansas City Chiefs training camp
has issued an ominous warning to the NFL as the Chiefs look to avenge their deflating Super Bowl loss to the Eagles. The two-time MVP was uncharacteristically rattled in the 40-22 loss as he committed three turnovers and took six sacks from Philly's defense. But with training camp in full swing, Mahomes is aiming to play at a higher level next season. 'There's stuff we've got to get better at. Especially myself,' he told USA TODAY Sports. 'There's plays on the football field that I didn't make last year, that I've made in previous years. At the end of the day, I'm going to do whatever it takes to win, whether that's passing for a lot of yards, not passing for a lot of yards. But I think if I play better, that's going to make it better for the team. 'So, I've got to be better at executing whenever the shots are there, making those throws. Because that's going to alleviate pressure on our defense and make them play more free and make the team play more free.' The quarterback played below his usual best in 2024, as he failed to top 4,000 yards for the first time since he's been a starter and tossed only 26 touchdowns - his lowest mark since 2019. He and the offense were also not helped by long-term injuries to Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown, the latter of which missed nearly the entire regular season before suiting up in the playoffs. Rice suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 4. Starting running back Isiah Pacheco also played just seven games in the regular season due to a fractured fibula. The Chiefs are now about six months removed from their failed three-peat attempt, but Mahomes can still remember the awful feeling from after the game. 'When you make it that far and then you're at the end, it just hurts,' he said. 'You put so much hard work into it. So, losing on that final step is always hard. But it's how you respond. I thought we responded well after that last Super Bowl loss, just kind of building back and getting even better and winning a couple more championships.' Both Rice and Brown have been absent from practice this week due to groin and ankle issues respectively, though Mahomes will look to continue fostering his connection with Xavier Worthy, who produced an eye-catching 157 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Eagles. Mahomes will of course have a favorite target in Travis Kelce back as well, after the tight end decided to return for a 13th season. The Chiefs begin their preseason on Saturday against the Cardinals, and will travel to Brazil for their Week 1 matchup against the Chargers.

Chiefs WR Rashee Rice (groin) misses practice
August 7 - Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice did not participate in practice at training camp on Wednesday. Rice is dealing with a groin injury, according to the team. The third-year wideout was spotted working on the sidelines with trainers and receiver Hollywood Brown (ankle). Rice, 25, sat out the majority of the 2024 season after suffering a torn ligament (LCL) in his right knee that required season-ending surgery. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had thrown an interception and dove into Rice's leg as they were attempting to make a tackle. Over the first three weeks, Rice was among the top receivers in the league with two touchdowns and 288 receiving yards (an average of 96 per game). In 20 career games, the 2023 second-round pick out of SMU has recorded 1,226 receiving yards, 103 receptions and nine touchdowns over his first two seasons with the Chiefs. Rice is still awaiting news of a potential NFL suspension after he caused a multi-car crash in Dallas in March 2024. He pleaded guilty in July to two third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury. Rice was sentenced to five years of probation (deferred), 30 days in jail, and required to pay approximately $115,000 in medical expenses for the victims. He also agreed separately to a $1.086 million settlement in a civil case. "I've completely changed," Rice said at training camp. "You have to learn from things like that." --Field Level Media
