Waaree Solar Americas signs 586MW solar module supply deal

Waaree Solar Americas, a US subsidiary of India's solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer Waaree Energies, has signed a solar module supply agreement with a US-based independent power producer (IPP). The $176m deal bolsters Waaree's presence in the US solar market. The 586MW modules will be manufactured at Waaree's manufacturing facility in Brookshire, Texas. Deliveries are scheduled for the financial years 2026 and 2027 and will be distributed across four projects. The production will incorporate domestically sourced components, adhering to the investment tax credit (ITC) guidelines, which emphasise domestic content requirements. Waaree Solar Americas president Sunil Rathi stated: 'This agreement reflects Waaree's unwavering commitment to building a resilient, robust and technologically advanced clean energy supply chain in the United States. 'In a landscape marked by shifting trade dynamics and an increasing emphasis on domestic manufacturing, our Brookshire facility stands uniquely equipped to meet market demand with high-quality, US-made modules. This milestone not only underscores global confidence in Waaree's quality and reliability but also bolsters America's energy transition, enhances job creation and strengthens long-term energy security." The agreement will facilitate enhancing the US clean energy supply chain's resilience and reliability, particularly in light of changing trade and energy policies. Waaree's strategic approach positions it as a dependable global PV module manufacturer with a resilient supply chain designed to mitigate trade risks and maintain supply continuity. As US energy demand escalates, driven by developments in AI infrastructure and industrial expansion, Waaree aims to continue its focus on delivering scaleable, clean energy solutions. Rathi added: 'Our collaboration reflects a mutual commitment to advancing America's energy security objectives through a resilient domestic supply chain, supported by Waaree's extensive manufacturing expertise developed over decades in India. We are proud to contribute to our partner's ambitious project pipeline with our high-performance solar modules." In January 2025, Waaree Energies signed a share purchase agreement with Enel Green Power Development to acquire 100% of the share capital of Enel Green Power India. 'Dhoni barged on to the field, Kohli not banned': Virender Sehwag defends 'young player' Digvesh Rathi after suspension

Digvesh Rathi. (Image credit: BCCI/IPL) Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for showing inconsistency in implementing disc ipl inary actions against players in the Indian Premier League (IPL), specifically highlighting the recent suspension of Lucknow Super Giants' Digvesh Singh Rathi while past incidents involving MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli resulted in lesser penalties. Digvesh Rathi, a leg-spinner for LSG, received a one-match suspension following an on-field altercation with Abhishek Sharma during their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The incident marked Rathi's third Code of Conduct breach this IPL season. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The BCCI clarified that Rathi's suspension was the result of accumulated demerit points from multiple incidents throughout the season, not solely from the confrontation with Sharma. "I thought that the ban was a bit harsh. The boy is playing in his first year in the IPL. MS Dhoni had barged into the ground, he was not banned then. Virat Kohli has spoken to umpires in that tone, who knows how many times, he was also not banned. So, Digvesh Rathi could have been spared, because he is a young player, just coming into the scene, could have let that one go," Sehwag stated while speaking on Cricbuzz. The controversy stems from Rathi's previous infractions, including his trademark "notebook" celebrations after dismissing opposition batters, which contributed to his accumulation of demerit points. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo "This was his third Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season and hence, he has accumulated two Demerit Points, in addition to three Demerit Points he had accumulated earlier - One Demerit Point against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025 and two Demerit Points against Mumbai Indians on April 04, 2025. As he now has Five Demerit Points this season - which result in a one-game suspension - Digvesh will now be suspended for LSG's next game - against Gujarat Titans on May 22, 2025 in Ahmedabad," the BCCI explained in their statement. Dhoni angry moment🔥vs umpire || CSK vs RR || IPL 2019 #msdhoni #cricket #trending #ipl #india #csk The incident has brought attention to previous controversies involving prominent players. In 2019, MS Dhoni entered the field during a match between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings to dispute a no-ball decision with umpires, resulting only in a 50% match fee fine. Similarly, Kohli, despite being involved in multiple on-field disagreements throughout his 18-year IPL career, has never faced suspension. Virat Kohli vs. Gautam Gambhir full fight video The key difference in these cases lies in the accumulation of demerit points. While Rathi reached the five-point threshold that triggers an automatic suspension, neither Dhoni nor Kohli had accumulated enough points to warrant such action. The suspension meant Rathi missed Lucknow Super Giants' upcoming match against Gujarat Titans, while Abhishek received a fine and demerit points for his role in the altercation. Ravichandran Ashwin defends Digvesh Rathi's Mankad, slams Rishabh Pant for withdrawing appeal: ‘You'll scar a bowler'

Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his disapproval about Rishabh Pant's choice to withdraw Digvesh Rathi's Mankad appeal during Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) final league match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Tuesday (May 27). Ashwin, who plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL, defended Rathi and argued that Pant's decision sends the wrong message about upholding the rules and discourages the bowler. In the LSG vs RCB match already filled with drama, Digvesh Rathi attempted to run out Jitesh Sharma, who was at the non-striker's end. Chasing a target of 228 runs for RCB, Jitesh looked unstoppable and was smashing fours and sixes. During the final delivery of the 17th over, Rathi noticed Jitesh stepping out of his crease at the non-striker's end. He quickly removed the bails, attempting a Mankad run-out. The umpire confirmed whether the bowler wanted to appeal. The 25-year-old agreed, and the decision went straight to the third umpire. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, on the other hand, asked the umpire to withdraw the appeal. However, Jitesh Sharma did not lose his wicket due to a specific MCC rule about non-striker run-outs. Even though the batter was out of his crease, Rathi had already completed his bowling action - his arm had passed the point where he would normally release the ball. Rishabh Pant's withdrawal had no impact on the outcome. The third umpire's ruling was based on Rathi's completed bowling action, not Pant's gesture. Even if Pant had asked for the run-out, Jitesh would have remained not out. Ashwin extended his support for the young bowler and criticised Pant for withdrawing the appeal and insulting the bowler in front of crores of people. 'I don't know Digvesh Rathi personally — he is neither a friend nor a relative,' Ashwin expressed on his YouTube channel. "But I am saying… You will scar a bowler so much that it will really affect him. Because nobody cares about a bowler, so in front of crores of people, should we withdraw his appeal and insult him?" he added. Ashwin analysed the technical aspects of the event and explained that if Jitesh Sharma had left his crease before Rathi entered his delivery stride, he would have been given out. According to him, the rules support the dismissal, and the bowler is fully justified in appealing. "Now, till now, everything is fine. Bowler has hit, appealed, not out. It's just another day in the office. But what happened? After this, during the match, the commentators said, 'Rishabh Pant has withdrawn the appeal,'" Ashwin said. "Look, a captain's job is actually to back a player. Alright? A captain's job is to not make a bowler feel small," he added. Ashwin emphasised the emotional toll on Rathi. 'Picture Digvesh Rathi as your own child. If his captain publicly criticises his decision in front of millions, it's humiliating," he expressed.
