Carlito Breaks Silence On WWE Departure
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Carlito has opened up about his recent departure from WWE, stating that while he is a professional and will move on, he was not happy with how the company handled his final days. The former United States Champion's contract was not renewed in June, bringing his second run with the company to an end. In a new interview with fellow WWE alum D-Von Dudley, Carlito discussed the circumstances surrounding his exit. He confirmed that it was the company's decision not to renew his contract. How The WWE Run Ended Carlito explained that he was given very little notice about his status. He said WWE informed him just two weeks before his contract expired that they were not re-signing him and that he did not need to come to the final TV tapings. "The contract ended and they wanted me not to renew," Carlito said (H/T to Fightful). "They call it like two weeks out. You don't have to come to the RAW or whatever." He expressed frustration with this approach, feeling that as a veteran, he should have been allowed to finish his duties professionally. "I'm a professional. I don't like that... Treat me like a mark or something. I'll do my job... It's not the end of the world either." He burst onto the scene in his SmackDown debut, defeating John Cena to win the United States Championship. The following year, he won the Intercontinental Championship in his Raw debut match. He later formed a highly successful tag team with his brother, Primo. At WrestleMania 25, the duo made history by becoming the first and only team to unify the WWE Tag Team Championship and the World Tag Team Championship. More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation After more than a decade away, Carlito made a shocking return at the Backlash premium live event in his native Puerto Rico in 2023. The incredible crowd reaction he received led to him being signed to a full-time contract. He joined the popular Latino World Order (LWO) faction, enjoying a successful babyface run. The final chapter of his WWE return saw him turn heel at WrestleMania 41, betraying the LWO to help Dominik Mysterio. He subsequently joined The Judgment Day, aligning himself with one of the top factions on Raw before his contract expired. Now a free agent, Carlito is already booked for his return to the independent scene, with a match scheduled against Matt Riddle for Big Time Wrestling on July 25th. WWE 'Raw': Roman Reigns returns, CM Punk earns title shot
July 15 (UPI) -- Roman Reigns made a triumphant return to WWE to help out his cousin Jey Uso and CM Punk on WWE Raw. Uso and Punk were involved in a Gauntlet match on Monday to determine who will face World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at SummerSlam. Bron Breakker kicked off the Gauntlet by taking on Penta. Breakker and manager Paul Heyman were without their leader, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins, who is recovering from an injury. Heyman, earlier in the night, refused to give an update on Rollins' status but stated that Rollins would not be relinquishing the Money in the Bank briefcase. Breakker defeated Penta with a Spear before taking on LA Knight. Breakker won the match after raking Knight's eyes and nailing him with a Gutbuster and Spear combo. Uso was up next against Breakker, who was joined by his partner Bronson Reed. Uso was in control of the match until Reed got involved, allowing Breakker to hit another Spear and gained another victory. Punk was the last competitor to enter the Gauntlet match and went to battle with Breakker. Reed once again got involved; however, Uso returned to even the odds. Punk was able to counter a Spear attempt by Breakker and landed the GTS to earn the three count. Punk will go on to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Breakker and Reed, upset at the result, started to beat down Punk and Uso until Reigns arrived onto the scene. The Original Tribal Chief delivered Superman Punches and Spears to both Breakker and Reed as the crowd cheered. Reigns then helped Uso up and shook his hand as Raw went off the air. Reigns was last seen in March following WrestleMania 41. SummerSlam will take place over two nights on Aug. 2 and 3. Rapper Cardi B will host the event. WWE superstars past and present John Cena arrives for interviews after a news conference for "WrestleMania" at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on March 16, 2018. WWE Raw Highlights: Former world champion returns to save Jey Uso and CM Punk, as Paul Heyman gasps in horror
Comebacks in the WWE, and that too the ones especially timed well, are the bread and butter of the company, and it is safe to say that the writers of the show have definitely hit it out of the park this time. After being away from competing for several months after his loss to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, Roman Reigns returned on yesterday's Raw episode to extract some long-due revenge. After a gruesome qualifying match for a spot at Summerslam, CM Punk emerged victorious, but following their classic pack mentality, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed started laying the beatdown on him. Jey Uso came out to save Punk but got caught in the crossfire. Just before Reed could deliver the finishing blow, a familiar but long-lost sound played on the speakers as the crowd erupted hearing Reigns entrance music. The 'OTC' walked out determined, and before any of the culprits standing in the ring could understand what was going on, he had rushed his way in and attacked both Breakker and Reed. After laying both the men out, Reigns helped his cousin Jey to his feet as he locked eyes with Punk. The two men were seeing each other for the first time since Heyman betrayed them both during their match at WrestleMania 41. ALSO READ: John Cena calls Barbie 'a mistake', says Fast and Furious was 'a dream come true': 'I shot both films simultaneously' The three men, Reigns, Punk and Jey, stood side by side, looking down on the members of Seth Rollins' clique as the crowd continued to cheer for the returning star. Reigns will now be playing the role of 'face' (good guy) after continuing his 'heel' persona for the entirety of his previous championship run. Punk will now be facing Gunther at Summerslam for the heavyweight championship. Gunther retained his title at Saturday Night's Main Event after he defeated Goldberg. Saturday Night's Main Event After setting up his feud with Randy Orton in the previous weeks, Drew McIntyre fell short during the actual match. Distracted by artist Jelly Roll at the ringside, Drew fell prey to the Viper and failed to secure a win. Seth Rollins went head-to-head with LA Knight, and the two delivered an impressive match, with Rollins taking the win. It was even more impressive as the two men fought through injuries, with Knight still battling a midsection bruise and Rollins sustaining an ankle injury during the fight itself. Solo Sikoa defended his US title for the first time against the returning Jimmy Uso, who was outnumbered due to the interference of Sikoa's own group, the MFT. Goldberg finally closed the curtains on his wrestling career as he failed to prevail over Gunther. The WWE legend gave an emotional speech at the end of the match and thanked all the fans who have supported him over the years and how their love facilitated his return to the company. Evolution 2025 The all-female premium event took everyone by surprise and delivered an exquisite show with past female legends joining the current talent. Becky Lynch, Lyra Valkyria and Bailey went toe to toe, as the three women laid it all on the line for the Intercontinental Championship. After an enthralling match, Lynch managed to retain her title. Rodriguez and Perez emerged victorious in the multiple tag-team match, and Tiffany Stratton managed to beat the legendary female wrestler Trish Stratus. Naomi managed to lay Jade Cargill to rest, even though the stipulation of the match seemed linear at times. She would later return during the bout between Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley and cashed in her MITB briefcase to secure the championship. The returning Nikki Bella made for a good show and positive reactions from the crowd, but ultimately the battle royal was won by Vacquer. This was only the second time Evolution took place, with the first one being held back in 2018. The show didn't have the same kind of backing it did 7 years ago, but it still managed to draw the audience in.

Roman Reigns Issues a Sharp Warning on Social Media After Earth-Shattering Return on Raw
Image via WWE (YouTube) The July 14th episode of Monday Night Raw ended on a thunderous note as Roman Reigns made his highly anticipated return to WWE television. This marked Reigns' first on-screen appearance since being brutally taken out by Bron Breakker the night after WrestleMania 41. Now back with purpose and intensity, 'The OTC' hasn't forgotten the ambush, and it looks like he's returned with revenge on his mind. Roman Reigns Warns His Opponents After His Return to Raw After closing out the show, Roman Reigns took to social media and issued a short yet sharp response after his return. 'The OTC' wrote, 'More receipts to come! Good to be back. #WWERaw' — WWERomanReigns (@WWERomanReigns) This was certainly evident when Reigns took out Breakker and Bronson Reed as soon as he returned. This week's Raw saw a Gauntlet match to decide the next opponent for Gunther and his World Heavyweight title at SummerSlam. By the end of it, CM Punk earned his ticket to SummerSlam, securing a shot at gold against the Austrian. But it wasn't easy. Punk had to survive a dominant run by Breakker, who bulldozed through Penta, LA Knight, and Jey Uso before facing Punk in the final stretch. In the closing moments, chaos erupted. Reed ran in and blindsided Punk, nearly costing him the match. That's when Uso stormed the ring to even the odds, clearing Reed and setting the stage for Punk to land the GTS on Breakker for the win. But the celebration didn't last long. Breakker and Reed immediately launched a brutal post-match assault on both Punk and Uso.
