Denise Van Outen shares unlikely way to finding love after divorce
EXCLUSIVE: Singer and TV host, Denise Van Outen, said she took up golf after her divorce because she wanted to meet 'loads of men' and found most of her male pals had taken up the sport Denise Van Outen says she teed up the best way to find a new man - by taking up golf. The presenter and singer reveals she first took a punt on putting to bag a date. After divorcing, Denise saw it as a better option compared to dating sites and boozy nights out. 'The reason I got into it - this is the truth - it was after my divorce, and I wanted to go somewhere where there are just loads of men,' coughed Denise. 'I just went 'Where can I go?' - I remember being with my friend. "Because when you're young, you just go to a nightclub. And I was like 'I'm not going to be able to do that now, and I just don't want to spend all night in the nightclub'. I was like 'Where have all the nightclubbers gone?' And I looked, and most of my male friends have grown up and got into golf. I thought 'Perfect'.' Former Strictly runner-up, Denise, 51, also now a successful DJ, divorced Any Dream Will Do winner Lee Mead, with whom she has daughter Betsy, ten years ago. She is now reported to have a new businessman partner, Adam Butler, who joined her on holiday in the Maldives last month. She previously dated trader Eddie Boxshall and Italian property businessman Jimmy Barber, whom she split from in November last year after 18 months together. But she has retained her love for golf and is now keen to see more women take up golf, after being told her idea will spark a rush of women heading for the golf course. She said it is good to find a new passion later in life and told the Pack Your Bags podcast: 'We need more women playing golf. 'I've travelled with that and gone to some lovely places. I centre a lot of my holidays around either golf or DJing. I can play. I can hit a ball.' She said the 'most fun' course she has ever played was one in Barbados where players keep being brought cocktails by staff on buggies. Asked how that affects her performance, she said: 'It normally gets better and then it starts to really go downhill quite rapidly.' Following her split from Jimmy, Denise told the Mirror: 'This summer has probably been the most sort of hedonistic summer I've had since the 90s. I've had a lot of fun a lot of going out lot of drinking rosé wine in the summer and enjoying myself. But I'm good at knowing when to stop.' She previously opened up on how she was exploring new romantic possibilities after joining the celebrity dating app Raya. Denise said: 'I did connect with one massive Hollywood star. We had a little bit of the chat, but I don't live in LA, so I thought, he's not going to come to Chelmsford. 'I loved it [Raya]. I've made some friends. I go on dates. I'm not an angel. I'm out having a good time." But after hearing pals' experiences, Denise is in no rush to enter another relationship. She shared: "My friends in these long-term relationships are all moaning to me anyway. They say they don't have sex and argue all the time. They try to creep in at night when their other half's asleep in bed.' Denise added: 'I feel happier now than I used to, because I'm more content in myself. As we start to get older, you hear of people getting the illnesses. "I lost a friend when she was quite young. It made me realise it's more important to celebrate the fact you're still here and still able to enjoy yourself and do things.' Denise has had a rocky love life as she was married to performer Lee Mead but divorced in 2015, and she later dated Eddie Boxshall. In 2022, they broke up following allegations of illicit text exchanges with other women behind her back. She discovered love again with Jimmy, who appeared to have mended her broken heart, but they later split.

Lily Allen reveals ‘extremely heavy few weeks' after social media ban

The British singer has revealed she's been 'incredibly low' in recent months, following the breakdown of her marriage to actor David Harbour. On her podcast Miss Me?, which she co-hosts with friend Miquita Oliver, Allen opened up about the emotional toll her separation has taken. She described a sense of spiralling, paired with intense panic attacks that left her feeling out of control. The 00's icon also revealed she was often bored whilst living in New York and has now stopped using social media to improve her mental health. She admitted she has gone cold turkey on her use of social media in order to get her mental health back on track, 'I'm nearly two weeks into a complete social media ban.' She's still recovering from the breakdown of her marriage to David Harbour (Picture: James Shaw/REX/Shutterstock) The Smile hitmaker has been very open about her mental health on her podcast (Picture: BBC Sounds) The singer went on to say, 'I don't have that much to do here in New York during the day and so I guess I would find myself sitting on Instagram and scrolling or being narcissistic and posting or reading my responses and getting that dopamine fix.' Allen compared her ban of social media to withdrawing from drugs: 'I think I was having withdrawal symptoms. It was horrible, I mean, I really did feel like I was withdrawing from drugs or something, it was crazy.' In a raw moment of honesty, Allen admitted she needed professional help to improve her worsening mental health. The 40-year-old subsequently checked herself into a trauma treatment centre near her US home. This wasn't about rehab, she clarified – it was purely to address her mental health. The facility, which offers intensive therapy and costs around £8,000 a week, became her temporary home while she worked through her feelings post-breakup. Allen recently found out her now estranged husband, Harbour, was on the celebrity dating app Raya. This news triggered a spiral of poor mental health for the pop icon. She didn't hold back as she described the sting of discovering that detail. I'd never seen Stranger Things,' Turning 40 was another major milestone, one she approached with both celebration and reflection. She shared snippets of her birthday online, surrounded by friends and family who she said 'really showed up' for her. James Norton's ex takes swipe at Happy Valley star after brutal move
Reports of the celebrity couple's split first emerged four days ago, and James Norton already appears to be moving on. James Norton's ex-girlfriend Charlotte Rose Smith appeared to take a savage swipe at the Happy Valley star after reports emerged that he joined the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya just days after their breakup. Charlotte, 26, took to Instagram with a post that many saw as a pointed response to their split. She shared the iconic image of Nicole Kidman gleefully celebrating her divorce from Tom Cruise on her story. This picture is often used to symbolise feeling liberated by a breakup. The same meme has previously been shared by other celebrities, including Jenna Dewan after her divorce from Channing Tatum. Charlotte posted this story shortly after Norton, 39, was reportedly spotted on Raya. The dating app is known for attracting creatives and celebrities, and according to The Sun, the actor has been seen on it with a new profile that features photos of him with a shaved head. Norton buzzed his hair off for his upcoming film Sunny Dancer, which he is currently filming in Scotland alongside The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey. Norton and Charlotte began dating in late 2023 and were seen together on numerous occasions. At the time, an insider told The Sun: "They have been enjoying dates and seem very happy together. It has been a year since his relationship with Imogen ended and he appears to get on so well with Charlotte. They make a lovely couple." While James may be re-entering the dating world, Charlotte seems to be channelling her feelings into her art. She has been posting a series of cryptic TikToks from her London studio. In one recent clip, she declared, "When everything is falling apart I will always have art. Broken heart? Still got my art." In another, she can be seen confidently strutting in a satin dress with the caption: "How I imagine every ex thinks of me." Meanwhile, James appears to be leaning on his family during this difficult time. On a recent episode of the Travel Secrets podcast, he revealed that he is planning a trip to Kenya with his parents, Hugh and Lavinia, and sister Jessica. "It's with my family, which is really lovely," he said. "There's a point you get to in your early twenties...I was lucky enough to look at my mum and dad when we were all adults, and say, 'We get on!' "My dad and I have a grudge match playing chess and we play bridge. My sister has two little boys who are six and four and we have a really nice little family unit. So for the first time, I'm taking them on holiday. We're going to the Masai Mara for some safari. I can't wait to see my little nephews do safari." James was previously engaged to actress Imogen Poots, 35. The couple ended their seven-year relationship in late 2023. While speaking to The Sunday Times after their split, Norton admitted: "Some of the choices recently weren't mine, yet I don't feel begrudging."
