The centre-back is just 17, but has already gained valuable first team experience and has caught the eyes of several European clubs, including the Scottish champions. Now it's being suggested that the Hoops have made their first contact with the Serbian giants over a potential deal for the towering teenager. Serbian outlet Meridian Sport claim that an initial offer from Celtic has been turfed out, with Red Star standing firm on their demands. The fee in which they offered has not been disclosed but it's stated the Serbian champions have set an asking price of €10million (£8.4million). It was previously believed Red Star would not entertain any offers for their prized asset. Milosavljevic has made 15 appearances for the club's first team and has yet to lose a single game in the Serbian top flight. He spent the first half of the campaign on loan in the second tier with Graficar Beograd. Paris Saint-Germain and Everton are also said to be considering a move after reportedly sending scouts to watch him in action. Milosavljevic isn't the only player Celtic could battle the French giants for this summer as reports from Japan also state the two clubs are in a three-way battle for Djurgarden left-back Keita Kosugi. Thousands of Celtic fans march to Hampden for Scottish Cup final vs Aberdeen amid heavy police presence The 19-year-old has been attracting interest with his displays in Sweden and in Europe, with PSG, Celtic and Atalanta said to be circling. Meanwhile, PAOK are reportedly in talks to sign Greg Taylor on a free transfer. The Scotland left-back is out of contract this summer and is free to speak to other clubs. And Greek outlet iNPAOK claim the Black and Whites have joined the race for his signature. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Russia appoints Mariupol siege commander as land forces chief

Colonel General Andrey Mordvichev (Photo: TASS) MOSCOW: Russia has appointed a key commander of the gruelling siege of Mariupol, General Andrey Mordvichev , as head of the ground forces, the official newspaper of the Russian army reported Thursday. Defence Minister Andrey Belousov described the 49-year-old general as "an experienced combat officer who fully demonstrated his talent as a military commander during the special military operation," using Moscow's term for its Ukraine offensive, according to the Red Star newspaper. Russian forces rolled into Mariupol, a bustling Black Sea coast city with a pre-war population of 540,000, in the first months of its assault in 2022 and imposed a brutal siege for nearly three months that resulted in 8,000 deaths, according to Human Rights Watch. The city, which used to be an important hub for Ukraine's grain trade, became Moscow's biggest gain in its military campaign but two-thirds of its pre-war population has fled and the siege resulted in massive destruction. Ukraine's SBU security services accused Mordvichev of having spearheaded the siege of Azovstal, a large steel plant held by members of the Azov brigade, which has ties to far-right nationalist groups. The plant was Kyiv's final pocket of resistance in the city. Ukraine sees Mordvichev as a war criminal, accusing him of overseeing atrocities against Ukrainian civilians and soldiers. In February 2024, the general led the capture of Avdiivka, an industrial town in eastern Ukraine, following a bloody three-month assault. For this, he received a personal telegram of appreciation from Russian President Vladimir Putin . Mordvichev, born in Kazakhstan, has served in the Russian army since 1997 and has held various commanding positions since 2016. His predecessor, Oleg Salyukov, 70, was removed by Putin last week and immediately appointed deputy secretary of Russia's Security Council, an important advisory body that meets regularly with Putin.

Acclaimed director Rashid Masharawi collaborates for the first time with Baho Bakhash

Producer Baho Bakhash and esteemed Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi have met today at the 15th Malmö Arab Film Festival Industry Days, which runs until May 5th, 2025, in Sweden, in order to reach an agreement on a new Arab cinematic project bringing them together, under the title "the Natives". This announcement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Industry Days current edition which is regarded as a celebration of collaborative creativity. Producer Bakhash stated, "It is the first project between Red Star and director Rashid Masharawi in a work that is written and directed by him. It will be a special Palestinian-Egyptian-Jordanian production reflecting the absurd consequences of the Palestinian situation in a satirical style, as well as a touch of black comedy. Full details will be announced shortly". She added, "MAFF Industry Days have become a bridge connecting filmmakers from various cultures, creating new creative opportunities and collaborative films that achieved significant global success. Thus, it is important to announce our new project with esteemed director Rashid Masharawi in the Arab cinema capital in Europe in order to proceed our artistic and cultural dialogue". Director Masharawi noted, "I was pleased with the announcement of this project through a platform for Arab cinematic exchange and collaboration in Malmö. Visions converge and ideas are embodied in new and special ways. In my opinion, 'the Natives' is a special cinematic experience. I attempt to reflect on the new and old Palestinian situations and recount events from new dimensions through a compelling cinematic presentation blending cynical humor, depth and simplicity". Masharawi added, "The primary motivation to write this story stemmed from the urgent need to consider the meaning of a person's loss of place, instead of only replacing a certain place. Indeed, it is an experience that sheds light on the diaspora of the soul, feeling and memory".
