I would definitely cancel Disney Plus and Paramount Plus this month — here's why

The start of a new month is a good time to take stock of streaming bills. There are so many streaming services now, and paying for all of them really adds up. In 2025, streaming costs are higher than ever. Americans now pay an average of $61 a month for streaming services, according to a Deloitte report — or a hefty $732 a year. Luckily, it's really easy to save money on streaming by churning services, which entails canceling and signing up again later when the big, buzzy shows return. In June 2005, I recommend canceling Disney Plus and Paramount Plus. We rate both services highly, but few major titles are debuting on either in the next month. While they have some interesting offerings, they're not in the "must see immediately" category. Here's why I think you should consider canceling Disney Plus and Paramount Plus this month. We know a lot of families depend on Disney Plus' library of kid-friendly movies and shows., but during the summer, your household may be able to get by without it. Kids will be too distracted by outdoor activities, camps and vacations to miss streaming "Frozen" for the 500th time. Now that "Andor" is over (sob), there's little on the service to appeal to adults. There's only one big new original debuting on Disney Plus in June and that's "Ironheart." The Marvel show sees Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." After the events of the movie, the MIT student returns home to Chicago, where she becomes entangled with the enigmatic Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos) and discovers secrets that pit technology against magic. Though I, like several of my Tom's Guide colleagues, am feeling some Marvel fatigue, I'm actually looking forward to "Ironheart." I thought RiRi Williams brought a fresh spark to "Wakanda Forever." So, why would I cancel Disney Plus anyway? Well, the show doesn't premiere until nearly the end of the month: June 24. And after the first three episodes drop on that date, the other episodes will air weekly. I can absolutely wait until July to resubscribe to Disney Plus, then catch up on "Ironheart" and tune in for the last part of the season. And I'll have saved a little money without missing much. As for Paramount Plus, its June schedule is a desert when it comes to originals. "MobLand" is over and no Taylor Sheridan shows are in sight. The Tony Awards take place in June, but the ceremony is airing on CBS, which you can watch for free the old-fashioned way — with a TV antenna. Paramount Plus is our pick for classic movies and the service is welcoming more great films in June, including several "Indian Jones" movies and the "Godfather" movies. Yet, library content isn't enough for me to keep a subscription. Plus, most likely, those films will remain available on Paramount Plus next month. How much you can save by canceling Disney Plus and Paramount Plus depends on which plans you have. Disney Plus Basic (with ads) is $10 per month and Premium (ad-free) is $16. Meanwhile, Paramount Plus Essential is also $8 per month, and the Showtime tier (with the live CBS feed and Showtime content) is $13. So, you could save up to $29 a month if you cancel both. That may not sound like a lot, but it's not nothing, either. Churning streaming services throughout the year can save you a few hundred dollars. And with the prices of everything skyrocketing these days, every dollar counts.

Marvel's Ironheart Series Gets Stunning New Poster Ahead of Disney+ Release

With less than a month remaining in the premiere of , Marvel has come out to drop a brand new poster for the upcoming Disney+ series. The one-sheet showcases Riri Williams in a new Ironheart suit with features that mimic the iconic costume of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. Marvel Studios recently took to social media to share a new poster for its forthcoming Disney+ outing, Ironheart. The colorful promo art shared on X (formerly Twitter) looks like an amalgamation of multiple layers, highlighting half of Riri Williams' face, with a freshly introduced mask covering the other half. Set in the backdrop of what looks like William's hometown of Chicago, the image predominantly contains a palette of four colors, namely white, black, red, and gold. Here's the new Ironheart promo art: While the poster only teases a suit that Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams could don in the Ironheart series, it showcases a design that MCU fans have yet to witness on camera. Additionally, the poster features a tagline, 'Every dream has a cost,' which sets up the high-stakes adventure that the titular character will embark on. Taking place after the events of 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart will follow Williams' journey as she attempts to realize her ambition of inventing technological advancements, including her Iron Man-esque suits. However, along the way, she inadvertently crosses paths with the magical world of the MCU after encountering Anthony Ramos' Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood. In addition to Ramos and Thorne, the Ironheart series will feature the likes of Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White in pivotal roles. The show has already had to endure a significant amount of controversies, with audiences lambasting its first official trailer and Ironheart's co-creator, Mike Deodato Jr., claiming that Marvel did not pay him for the Disney+ series. Regardless, the Ironheart series is on track to hit the small screens with a three-episode premiere on June 24, 2025. Originally reported by Apoorv Rastogi on SuperHeroHype. New on Disney Plus in June 2025 — all the new must-watch movies and shows

Summer is nearly here, and Disney Plus is heating up with a new lineup of great movies and shows to celebrate. There's plenty to look forward to that's new on Disney Plus this June, especially if you're a Marvel fan. Yes, the much-anticipated new Marvel series "Ironheart" — which tells the origin story of genius teen engineer Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne) — will finally premiere on the streaming service with its first three episodes in June. And nature lovers will surely be wowed by a new documentary from a legendary British biologist and broadcaster: "Ocean with David Attenborough" explores both the beauty of the sea and the ways in which humans are depleting its riches. You can then jet upwards from underwater habitats to outer space itself via another gripping doc, "Sally," which chronicles the pioneering career of astronaut-physicist Sally Ride, the first American woman to blast off into space. So without further ado, let's dive into everything coming to Disney Plus in June 2025. The new live-action Marvel series from executive producer Ryan Coogler is set after the events of 2022's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," where Marvel fans first met Riri Williams (Dominque Thorne), a genius MIT engineer who returns to her hometown of Chicago with goals of making her own Iron Man-inspired suit of armor. Her technological ambitions, however, get Riri entangled with Parker Robbins, also known as "The Hood" (Anthony Ramos), a charming yet mysterious figure with magical powers. Soon, Riri discovers secrets that will pit new tech against old magic. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Along with Williams and Ramos, the cast of the six-part "Ironheart" miniseries includes Lyric Ross as Riri's friend Natalie Washington; Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy; Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington; Anji White as Riri's mom; Manny Montana as Cousin John; and "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Shea Couleé as Slug. Stream on Disney Plus starting June 24 Who better to lead you through the depths of the planet's undersea habitats than the world's leading natural historian, whose new wildlife documentary "Ocean with David Attenborough" will draw on a lifetime of knowledge to reveal how Earth's vast, interconnected waterways can be restored. Though the visually stunning 95-minute nature film beautifully depicts how we're currently in the most significant age of ocean discovery, it also doesn't shy away from the fact that human interference is one of the sea's biggest challenges. But things are not without hope, the doc assures: Along with exposing those critical problems, Attenborough and Co. also declare that there's plenty of opportunity for marine life recovery and offer up actionable solutions that can ensure the protection of our most vital resource. Stream on Disney Plus starting June 8 Sally Ride became a national hero in June 1983 when she flew on the Space Shuttle Challenger on the STS-7 mission, becoming the first American woman and third woman ever to fly in space (after cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova in 1963 and Svetlana Savitskaya in 1982). But though that groundbreaking journey put Ride into history books, it didn't come without personal complications for the astronaut-physicist and her loved ones, a deeply personal story that is uncovered in the 2025 documentary film "Sally". Directed and produced by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Cristina Costantini, the doc reveals the secret romance and subsequent sacrifices between Ride and her life partner Tam O'Shaughnessy, whose relationship spanned 27 years until Sally's death in 2012 at age 61. The nearly two-hour film explores how Ride navigated sexism and homophobia within NASA and the public, while also revealing unknown and intimate details of the American icon's private life. - Pupstruction (S2, 6 episodes) - Phineas and Ferb (S2, 10 episodes) - Ocean with David Attenborough - SALLY - Frozen: The Hit Broadway Musical - Premiere - Ironheart (3 episodes) - Underdogs - Vibe Check

I'm renewing my Disney Plus subscription in June thanks to these three shows

It's no secret that I'm a certified Disney Adult. I live and breathe Disney magic, and I'm not one to shy away from new Disney or Marvel theatrical releases, despite how unfavourable the ratings may be. That said, I've cancelled my Disney Plus subscription time and time again to save on costs. Quite frankly, I haven't found myself reaching for the streamer in favour of other ones like Netflix, Prime Video and, in recent weeks, Max. Despite having a wealth of Disney-branded shows, movies and documentaries, I haven't found anything in recent months that tickles my fancy, and if I do watch something on Disney Plus, I tend to stick to reruns of my favourite comedy shows such as New Girl, Modern Family and Abbott Elementary. But June has a slate of new releases that have renewed my faith in the streamer — and oh boy, am I ready to binge-watch. These new releases are sure to warm up your winter watch parties, and maybe even get you reinvigorated back into your Disney Plus subscription, too. From new superhero suits to fine dining and a healthy dose of reality television, Disney Plus ushers in some seriously good highlights this month. If you're curious about what else Disney Plus has to offer, you can check out our comprehensive guide here. So, without further ado, here are the three new original shows I'm watching on Disney Plus this June. I know what you're thinking here — it's another Marvel television series — but I promise this one will be different. Picking up after the events of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", the series follows Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) — a young inventor determined to make her mark on the world — as she returns to her hometown of Chicago and gets caught up in cahoots with the mysterious, yet charming Parker Robbins, a.k.a. The Hood (Anthony Ramos) in pursuit of her ambitions. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. There were a number of timing delays with "Ironheart", as it was tipped for release in 2023. Despite this, the six-part series is set to bring the updated Iron Man action, comedy and hopefully an equally impressive soundtrack to the MCU. Fingers crossed that Riri's quest for greatness is just as appealing IRL as it is in the trailer (and comics!). Aside from the second season of "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" that dropped earlier this month and the latest iteration of "The Kardashians", Disney Plus doesn't quite take the reality TV crown off Netflix just yet, but it's coming close with its upcoming addition. Hailing from the viral podcast "Call Her Daddy", host Alex Cooper prepares for her first tour in this two-part series, which showcases her beginnings as a self-conscious kid to the voice behind her successful podcast that has redefined the conversation for women everywhere. The series will offer longtime followers an intimate look into Cooper's life and the defining events that skyrocketed her journey from a woman with a dating podcast to the CEO of a media empire in just six years. Now, I've been a longtime fan of "FX's The Bear", and I am beyond excited to dive into the fourth course of this award-winning series. Season four of the Chicago-based show finds Carmen 'Carmy' Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White), Sydney Adamu (Ayo Edebiri) and Richard 'Richie' Jerimovich (Moss-Bachrach) pushing forward, determined not only to survive but also to take The Bear to the next level. With new challenges around every corner, the team must adapt, adjust and overcome. It would be remiss not to mention the other great shows coming to the House of Mouse this June, including a brand new documentary narrated by none other than Sir David Attenborough. On June 8, "Ocean with David Attenborough" will draw on a lifetime of experience to reveal Earth's most spectacular underwater habitats. While exposing the Ocean's biggest challenges, the documentary highlights that the opportunity for marine life recovery on an unprecedented scale is within reach. Don't worry if you're a sports fanatic — Disney Plus' ESPN additions have plenty of action-packed live events on the horizon. June brings in the highly anticipated NBA Finals on June 6, followed by the NHL Stanley Cup Finals on June 8, and two UFC Fight Nights on June 15 and June 22. Other new additions coming to the platform include the entire "Mission Impossible" film franchise, a special recording of "Frozen: The Musical" and an all-new animated series "Predator: Killer of Killers". If these new releases don't quite have you reaching to renew your subscription, you can check out our how to cancel Disney Plus guide.

Ironheart: 5 Fun Facts About Marvel's Genius Superhero

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reveals itself as a vast plain of existence just waiting to be explored by the everyday superhero fan. As we hit Phase 5 of the Marvel timeline, new characters such as the 'New Avengers' from Thunderbolts are making their big screen debut, creating hype for what's to come in their productions. Adding to the already equipped list of heroes is one debuting on the small screens, which has created much talk about her story on Disney+. 'Ironheart' is an upcoming television series following genius inventor Riri Williams, who was inspired to follow in the footsteps of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man. Here are some fun facts about the MCU's newest femme hero to get you started on her story: 1. She Reverse-Engineered Iron Man's Suit As a genius inventor endorsed by Tony Stark himself, Riri Williams was given the chance to work on her own inspired Iron Man suit, which fans were able to catch a glimpse of in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'. In the comics, her first suit was based on Iron Man Armour Model 41, which was one of Tony Stark's older models that she reverse-engineered to put together. When her personal project was found out by the FBI, she went on the run, which marked the start of her hero story. 2. She Is An Ally Of Wakanda Riri Williams made her first MCU appearance in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', where she was brought in by Shuri to aid in the upcoming war in the city. As war raged in the Citadel, she was protected by Ramonda, the Queen of Wakanda, who had sacrificed herself to save Williams. Feeling guilty for the death of the Queen, she aided Shuri in the battle to defeat Namor, where we catch a look at Ironheart in action with a newly improved Ironheart armour. She was named an honorary citizen after the battle. 3. She Dropped Out Of MIT To Become Ironheart Following the 'Ironheart' comics, Riri Williams debuts as a genius inventor enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). However, things were not as bright as they seemed, as her time in school was met with disrespect from her faculty's Dean. She scrapped the whole balancing school work with superhero work and dropped out of MIT to focus solely on her new life as Ironheart. 4. A Founding Member Of The Champions If you aren't familiar with the Marvel comics, The Champions is a band of younger heroes of the Marvel comics formed when Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales, and Nova quit the Avengers. They recruited Ironheart as a member as they formed a team that cared more about helping people than just about fighting bad guys. Not much is revealed yet about its MCU adaptation, but we could be seeing a premiere on Disney+ after 'Avengers: Secret Wars'. 5. Ironheart Has her Own JARVIS In a similar manner to Tony Stark's humorous AI, JARVIS, Ironheart also created her own AI, which helps her fight crime. Her AI is called the Neuro-Autonomous Technical Assistant & Laboratory Intelligence Entity, or NATALIE for short. The name has significance to William's past, as that was her friend's name who had been shot during a drive-by shooting. NATALIE personality is based on William's memories of her friend, which take a more dominating persona. Are you excited about the newest addition to the MCU? Ironheart premieres in Malaysia on Disney+ Hotstar on 25th June 2025, with a three-episode drop.
