Alan Ritchson Films ‘Reacher' Spin-off in Stands During Chicago Cubs Game
Imagine sitting in the stands at Wrigley Field for a Chicago Cubs baseball game, and in front of you are two stars of your favorite television show doing recon on something that sounds terrifyingly important. That was the case over the weekend, as Reacher star Alan Ritchson and his former co-star Maria Sten, who played Neagly, were filming in the stands of a Cubs game, as Marquee Sports Network showed. However, while Sten has appeared in 20 episodes, second only to Ritchson himself, they were reportedly filming a different show. Upcoming Reacher spin-off, Neagly, was apparently the focus here, but it appears that Ritchson will make at least one crossover appearance in the future show. Some of the film crew can be seen in this photo of the duo at the game: Not surprisingly, the reactions poured in from fans of the Cubs and the popular television show. Even before it was pointed out that they were filming, fans stated how apparent it seemed that the two weren't just in attendance to check out the game, and that it looked as though they were doing a scene. "Are they filming cause he's straight in character as Reacher. I think they're filming," said one fan. "They look like they are in character," said another with a crying laughing emoji. "they were definitely filming a scene + used all of the fans for free extras," joked another fan. "That's not the cast; that's Reacher and Neagley on a surveillance job," read a comment. Other fans chimed in while joking about how huge Ritchson is in real life, along with how terrified they'd be sitting there if they didn't know filming was happening. "That guy is huge, lol," said another comment. "I don't know but if I was sitting next to them I'd be terrified that shit was about to go down! (Love the show!)," replied a fan with a laughing emoji. It was a cool moment to see, and it had to be quite an experience for the fans attending the game. However, those fans around Ritchson and Sten were almost certainly informed of what was going on before filming.

'Reacher' Star Alan Ritchson Praises Owen Wilson After Filming New Movie ‘Runner'
Alan Ritchson has been a busy man recently, and fans of the Reacher star are likely to see more and more of him in the near future. While Ritchson has created a fan-favorite television show in Reacher, his character is also beloved by the fanbase. Not surprisingly, that sentiment also appears to stand true for multiple directors and film studios. Ritchson recently wrapped up the movie War Machine on Netflix, and is set for a leading role alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in the comedy The Man with the Bag. However, the current project Ritchson is finishing filming, Runner, has generated some early buzz, as he's co-starring in the film alongside Owen Wilson. Ritchson took to Instagram earlier this week as filming was winding down on the movie and praised the cast, director Scott Waugh and numerous others. But the 42-year-old actor's comments about Wilson truly jumped off the page. After calling some of the performances in Runner "among the best I've been a part of," Ritchson heaped praise on his co-star. "Owen Wilson is one of the most talented men I've worked with," Ritchson wrote. "Super brilliant mind and loveliest guy in the world. Insane ability to cut right to the heart and soul of a scene or piece of text." The exceptionally high praise from Ritchson for Wilson brought plenty of love from fans on social media. "Great! Looking forward to see you and Owen on screen!" wrote one fan. "Please don't change. Your fame is going into orbit." said another. "With Owen Wilson! One of the best," replied another fan. "Owen Wilson never gets enough credit for his talent. His performance in No Escape was excellent and riveting. I can't wait to watch Runner." read one comment. "So glad you said that about Owen. I've always loved him," responded another fan. Runner follows a high-end courier named Hank Malone (Ritchson) who's tasked with transporting an organ to save a seven-year-old girl in need of an immediate transplant. Malone has three hours to transport the organ, but things take a turn when the leader of a crime syndicate attempts to take it. Ritchson's character is then also tasked with transporting and protecting Ben Bishop (Wilson), the medical courier handling the organ, as Deadline detailed.

‘Reacher' Star Alan Ritchson Wows Billy Joel With Cover Of Song Classic
NEW YORK, NEW YORK - FEBRUARY 19: Alan Ritchson attends the Lionsgate's "Ordinary Angels" New York ... More Premiere at SVA Theater on February 19, 2024 in New York City. (Photo by Jamie McCarthy/WireImage,) Reacher star Alan Ritchson impressed Billy Joel so much with a cover of a classic song of his from The Stranger album that the Piano Man shared it on social media. Ritchson, of course, shot to superstardom with the release of Prime Video's Reacher Season 1 in 2022. Reacher Season 2 debuted in 2023 and the third season of the series wrapped up in March. While Ritchson has made dozens of small screen appearances since 2006 — he played Arthur Curry/Aquaman in a recurring role in Smallville and starred in the lead role in the comedy series Blue Mountain State — his TV career is also rooted in music with an appearance on American Idol Season 3 in 2004. While strolling into the room to sing before judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, Ritchson swooned Abdul with an a capella verse from Stevie Wonder's legendary hit You Are the Sunshine of My Life. Ritchson made it to American Idol's Hollywood round before being voted off of the singing competition. Ritchson recently showed off his singing skills in a video that partially shows his cover of Joel's 1977 hit ballad 'Just the Way You Are,' which is from the Rock and Roll Half of Famer's landmark The Stranger album. In turn, Joel posted the video on his Instagram page on Friday. Accompanying the post featuring Ritchson's soulful interpretation of the song, Joel writes, 'Bringing it into the weekend! Reacher star Alan Ritchson is singing all the right notes.' While some commentators on the post knew of Ritchson's American Idol appearance, others were completely taken aback by the screen star's singing skills. It's unclear who is playing guitar in the video or it's a karaoke track. Ritchson, however, showed off his guitar-playing skills while on American Idol. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - DECEMBER 19: Billy Joel performs at Madison Square Garden on December 19, 2023 ... More in New York City. (Photo by) Even before the success of Reacher Season 3, Alan Ritchson was already signed to return to Season 4 of the series, which was renewed in October of 2024. Ritchson may possibly reprise his role of Jack Reacher earlier than that, though, via Maria Sten's Reacher spinoff series Neagley, which is based on her Reacher character Frances Neagley. In a Zoom conversation with Ritchson and Sten before the premiere of Reacher Season 3, both actors seemed to like the idea of Ritchson making a guest appearence in Neagley. 'That would make sense, but we cannot confirm that it would make sense. It just makes sense in a world of hypotheticals,' Ritchson said, playfully, while Sten added, 'Yes, we can neither confirm or deny such rumors.' Ritchson then added, 'Like if he popped in for a couple of episodes. But it could happen,' before Sten said, 'It could happen. But who knows?' One certainty, though, is that Ritchson will star in the upcoming sci-fi action thriller War Machine, which Netflix acquired from Lionsgate, according to Deadline. In addition, he'll be starring in Amazon MGM Studios upcoming Santa Claus-themed movie The Man with the Bag opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Awkwafina. Billy Joel, meanwhile, is set for a small screen appearance in the two-part Max documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes. Max announced the documentary in March and noted it will be released sometime in 2025. The official summary for the documentary is 'an expansive portrait of the life and music of Billy Joel, exploring the love, loss, and personal struggles that fuel his songwriting. 'With unprecedented access to never-before-seen performances, home movies, and personal photographs, along with extensive, in-depth one-on-one interviews, the documentary intimately explores the life and work of Joel, whose music has endured across generations.' A release date for Alan Ritchson's Reacher Season 4 has not yet been announced.

What Did We Think Of Alan Ritchson's Batman Audition In ‘Reacher' Season 3?
Reacher Reacher continues to be one of Amazon Prime Video's most popular series, seemingly greenlit indefinitely with endless source material, and a relatively cheap production that almost never leaves the service's top 10 list. Most of that is due to its enigmatic star, Alan Ritchson, the hulking drifter who punches and reasons his way through crimes and murders as he wanders the earth. The show has just finished up season 3 this past week and boy, did that entire thing feel like a giant audition for Batman. I'm not bringing this up randomly, Ritchson has said outright that he wants to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in James Gunn's new DCU. Here's him in an interview with THR: 'I would love to play Batman. There, I said it. I'll shout it from the rooftops—'I want to be Bruce Wayne!'" Then, he went on to tell Wired recently that 'You wouldn't even have to play me' to take the role. Ritchson is no stranger to superhero parts, previously playing fellow Justice League member Aquaman all the way back in Smallville. Then, Hawk in the Titans series. He was killed off there, presumably to go start up Reacher. Season 3 of Reacher very much felt like a way to expand Reacher's 'detective' powers without relying on big choreographed fight scenes every other episode. He's constantly intutively finding small clues that leads him to uncovering secrets and tracking down a missing girl. But the season ends with a fight against the 7'2 Olivier Richters which I mean, that's Batman versus Bane for you. Reacher season 3 I don't actually know if that was Ritchson's intent this season, but I am reminded of something similar that just happened with Aaron Pierre, who starred in Rebel Ridge, which is more or less a storyline identical to a Reacher plot. A month later, he was cast as Green Lantern in the DCU. So if he can do it, what about Ritchson? The most obvious pushback about Ritchson is his size. But a few things there. First, there are many instances of 'Big Batman' in the comics. Ben Affleck played a version of that in the DCEU, and now 'Absolute Batman' in the comics is a brick wall. And a larger Batman would be a stark contrast to The Batman's Batman, Robert Pattinson. Second, yes, Alan Ritchson is probably the most jacked mainstream actor alive. But his bio puts him at 'only' 6'3, and shots are sometimes angled to make him look taller (book Reacher is 6'5). And he would be shorter than Superman's David Corenswet, who is 6'4 (the tallest Superman ever cast). The Batman I don't know how I feel about Ritchson as Batman. I think with his size and being 42 would distance himself from Pattinson (yes, Pattinson is 38 but playing a much younger Batman). But there is more to being cast as Batman than just wanting it very badly and showing off your potential bat-skills in a show. No doubt he's under consideration, but given that the DCU's Brave and the Bold doesn't even have a release window yet, it may be some time before we figure out if this could actually happen or not. Reacher's Paulie Fight Knocked Alan Ritchson Out for ‘a Day and a Half'
Alan Ritchson revealed that he became unconscious while filming the brutal fight between his titular character and Olivier Richters' Paul 'Paulie' Van Hoven for the Season 3 finale. The incident took place while shooting one of the early scenes of the sequence. Ritchson had insisted that he would do his own stunts and had the camera on right on his face for the scene, despite objections from his team. Following the incident, Ritchson didn't wake up for 'a day and a half.' Ritchson disclosed that he lost consciousness while filming the climactic fight scene between Reacher and Paulie with co-star Olivier Richters in the Season 3 finale of the Prime Video series. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Ritchson explained that he came up with the idea of having the camera on his face while shooting this particular scene so that the audience would 'know that I'm doing this for us. I'm taking one for Reacher and we're all in this together.' However, Ritchson's team objected to the prospect of him filming the scene himself and wanted a stunt person to do it. They also advocated for putting the camera on the floor. According to the actor, he and his team had a 'huge fight' over it, but he ultimately 'won' the argument. He recalled his team reluctantly telling him, 'You better not die because we said you're going to die, and we tried to warn you.' Ritchson said that he 'went through the seventh circle of hell' after Richters put him through the table. After regaining consciousness, Ritchson spoke to his children and assured them that he was alright. He added, 'It was the worst few minutes of my life.' Notably, Reacher and his bigger, taller, and heavier opponent Paulie have their final fight in the Season 3 finale. It goes back and forth, with both parties growing increasingly frustrated that the other person refuses to die. Eventually, Reacher tricks Paulie into fatally shooting himself by plugging the barrel of the gun that the other man tries to shoot him with. Reacher almost ends up with a broken back and a few loose teeth, but he's the last man standing. All three seasons of Reacher are currently available on Prime Video, and a fourth season has been announced.
