Riva Opens Its First Lounge in Spain Inside a Legendary 5-Star Hotel
Riva isn't something one typically associates with Spain, but that could soon change. The historic Italian shipyard, founded in 1842 by Pietro Riva and acquired by the Ferretti Group in 2000, has teamed up with Gran Meliá to open a new yachting hub on the sunny island of Mallorca (or Majorca). The five-star, adults-only hotel, one of several helmed by the Meliá Hotels International brand, occupies pride of place on the coast of Illetes, making it an ideal destination for Riva's latest location. The lounge, which is fittingly located in the hotel's seafront garden, takes design cues from Riva's iconic runabouts, naturally. The counter and tables are crafted from the rich mahogany that is synonymous with Rivas, while the seating evokes the upholstery on the legendary speedboats. (Some of the furniture, such as the Aquarama chairs, can be purchased via the Riva boutique.) The space is also adorned with books, model yachts, and other Riva-themed memorabilia. Beyond elegant styling, the lounge offers all-day dining both indoors and outdoors. The restaurant aims to spotlight the best of the Mediterranean, serving up fresh local seafood and dishes that reflect Mallorcan cuisine. Similarly, the drinks feature some authentic flavors of the region, with signature cocktails showcasing ingredients such as fresh Sóller oranges and Italian amaretto. Perhaps most importantly, guests will be able to take a Rivamare for a spin. The zippy 800 hp motorboat will be available to rent for a full or half day, with both hotel guests and visitors able to enjoy private jaunts. Yachters can use the sleek 39-footer to explore the idyllic coves of Mallorca, such as those along the cliffs of the Sierra de Tramuntana. Alternatively, guests could head to Palma for lunch at Hotel Victoria, Gran Meliá, or take a romantic sunset cruise. Joyrides are on the table, too, with the Rivamare capable of reaching 40 knots at full tilt. Riva has so far opened outposts in Monaco, Venice, Saudi Arabia, Paris, and, of course, Italy, but this marks the yard's first venture in Spain. It's not a bad foray, either. Hotel de Mar Gran Meliá has a total of 60 rooms and 77 suites. The top-tier Royal Suite Sea View costs in the ballpark of $930 per night. Liverpool Ambulance Service releases statement after multiple pedestrians hit
The Liverpool Ambulance Service have released a statement after a man was detained by Merseyside Police for plowing into a crowd of fans who were celebrating the Premier League title win. The Prime Minister has been made aware of the situation, being kept abreast of the developing situation in Liverpool. Additionally, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service stated: "NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city center, following reports of a road traffic collision. "We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible. Updates will be published on this page and Mersey Police as we know more." An air ambulance also was called in to help evacuate the injured, as officials piece together details of the incident. The Liverpool City Council also released a statement on social media in the wake of the incident, posting on X: "We are currently liaising with Merseyside Police regarding an incident on Water Street in the City Center. Updates to follow." Merseyside Police have released a statement, which read: "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city center. We were contacted at just after 6 pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street. "The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained. Emergency services are currently on the scene. We will issue more updates as we have them." Footage of the incident has begun to circulate on social media, which shows a black SUV driving and hitting at least two people before it was eventually stopped, striking at least 20 pedestrians in the aftermath. Bystanders and law officials then surrounded the driver. Prime Minister Kier Starmer released a statement on the incident, posting on X that his thoughts are with those who have been affected by the incident. "The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected," his statement on social media began. "I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident. I'm being kept updated on developments and ask that we give the police the space they need to investigate." The parade covered 10 miles of city grounds and it was clear supporters had long awaited a moment to celebrate the momentous occasion. Brunswick Street, Water Street, and James Street all were closed due to overcrowding, with police issuing a safety warning for supporters not to climb on any structures or street furniture.

Remembering Anna Riva
On Monday, Giorgio Armani posted a personal message to his label's Instagram, remembering his dear friend Anna Riva, who died last week at the age of 90. In the last stretch of a long career, Riva — who hailed from Reggio Emilia and got her start in fashion at Max Mara in 1958 before moving in 1962 to publishing house Mondadori, where she edited the groundbreaking magazine Arianna together with Anna Piaggi — worked as a correspondent for German Vogue, probably unbeknownst to many in the global fashion industry. In Italy, however, she was always fashion royalty: a pioneering figure, part of the wave who created Italian fashion itself, much like Mr. Armani. Back then, Italian magazines were as strong and focussed as the collections. Riva, who wore eccentric hats and bold jewellery, had a unique way — enthusiastic but not silly; always open to new talent — of both writing about fashion and art directing shoots. She was a key figure at seminal publications such as Linea Italiana and Mondo Uomo, the men's fashion monthly launched in 1981 by Flavio Lucchini to rival L'Uomo Vogue, and was revered for her ability to spot trends and shape fashion culture. And if Riva herself belonged to fashion's distant past, the way in which she fused the verbal and the visual has endured. A look at her work, especially from the 1970s and 1980s, would provide great nourishment for many in today's fashion industry.

R&M launches integrated infrastructure solutions for data centres
R&M, a leading Swiss developer and provider of high-end infrastructure solutions for data and communications networks, has joined forces with German cooling system manufacturer Stulz for integrated infrastructure solutions for enterprise, edge and colocation data centers. Announcing its new infrastructure partner programme, R&M said it integrates partners' complementary systems into holistic infrastructure solutions for data centers. This makes it possible to offer energy-efficient and individually configured equipment for data centers worldwide from a single source. A major industry player in the region, R&M said it co-ordinates data center projects from infrastructure planning to commissioning, contributing its own tried-and-tested portfolio. It includes connectivity and wiring, racks, enclosures, power distribution and software for data center infrastructure management (DCIM). In the future, this will enable R&M to tailor enclosures in data centers to the partners' precision cooling systems early on and with pinpoint accuracy. Customers will no longer have to worry about individual infrastructure components, dimensions, calculating the electrical power or coordinating the individual trades. "In addition to complementing our portfolio of integrated infrastructure solutions, the partner program is designed to strengthen our one-stop-shop approach. At the same time, we are expanding market access," remarked its CEO Michel Riva. "R&M and Stulz are independent partners with comparable medium-sized business models. Both share R&M's customer-oriented approach. We are at home in Europe and guarantee global delivery capability and individual project support," stated Riva. The Hamburg-based family-owned company Stulz is considered a leading provider of cooling solutions for data centres.
