Sleep Token Continues Its Winning Streak With Another No. 1
"Damocles" becomes Sleep Token's third straight No. 1 on the U.K. Rock & Metal Singles chart and ... More breaks into the top 40 on several other British rankings. LEEDS, ENGLAND - AUGUST 27: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Vessel of Sleep Token performs during Day 3 of Leeds Festival 2023 at Bramham Park on August 27, 2023 in Leeds, England. (Photo by) In the span of just over half a decade, Sleep Token has evolved from a relatively unknown rock band to one of the hottest acts on the harder side of the genre. The outfit has been growing its fanbase rapidly with each full-length release, and the next one will be the biggest yet. On May 9, the band will drop Even in Arcadia, its fourth full-length, which is sure to propel it to new heights on rankings around the globe. Three singles have already been pushed from the project, including "Damocles," the most recent. The latest release from the upcoming collection debuts on several charts in the United Kingdom, helping the masked musicians maintain a winning streak that underscores just how hot Sleep Token is right now. "Damocles" starts its time at No. 1 on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, which ranks the bestselling individual tracks in those styles. The new single earns Sleep Token its third leader on the genre-specific list. All three of those chart-toppers hail from Even in Arcadia. The trio of champions has reached the summit of the Rock & Metal tally back-to-back-to-back, with Sleep Token managing one new No. 1 per month since March. The group first hit No. 1 in late March of this year with "Emergence." Just a few weeks later, in mid-April, "Caramel" also spent a frame at the top. Now, on the chart dated May 8, "Damocles" joins those two cuts with its first turn on the throne. Sleep Token has now scored six hits in total on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart throughout the years. Three tunes from its 2023 album Take Me Back to Eden reached the tally, but none managed to crack the top 10. The closest the band came was a No. 14 peak with "The Summoning." Beyond its genre-specific success, "Damocles" also debuts inside the top 40 on three other U.K.-based rankings. It opens at No. 25 on the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most consumed songs in the country. It lands in the same position on the Official Singles Downloads tally and appears one spot lower — No. 26 — on the Official Singles Sales roster. The tune narrowly misses entering the upper tier on the Official Streaming chart, where it launches as the No. 45 most-streamed cut in the U.K. at the moment.

Green Day's Political Masterpiece Is Relevant Again — And Rising
Green Day's American Idiot climbs the U.K. charts amid renewed interest, marking its two-hundredth ... [+] week on the Official Physical Albums list and nearing 900 weeks on the Rock & Metal tally. Rock band Green Day in August, 2005 in Miami, Florida. (Photo by) Green Day's catalog is filled with numerous successful albums and massive rock hits. The group has produced some of the most successful tunes in pop-punk history, and he outfit's commercial success extends far beyond just that one subgenre. Within pop-punk, there may be no more successful album than American Idiot. Green Day's masterpiece turned 20 last year, and yet its message remains timely, especially considering the newly-elected president that just took power in the United States. It's possible that due to Trump's second term, and his many controversial orders, American Idiot may be taking on new significance. The project is gaining ground on the United Kingdom's music charts in a way that suggests there's renewed interest and excitement around the set, which may or may not be a coincidence. American Idiot appears on three charts in the U.K. this week. It rises on two of them and drops on a third—but only slightly. Green Day's blockbuster sits highest on the Official Physical Albums chart, pushing two spots to No. 81. It lifts by the same number of spaces on the Official Albums Sales ranking, though it settles at No. 84. American Idiot appears highest on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, which makes sense, since competition isn't as intense on genre-specific rankings, when compared to those that deal solely with pure purchases of any project of any style. On that tally, Green Day dips from No. 11 to No. 12, but that's still dozens of spots higher than where the same project lands on the purchase-centric rosters. American Idiot is one of three albums by Green Day that appear on the U.K. charts this week. It lands on the most lists, though it sits lower on the purchase-only tallies than the band's other wins do on their respective rosters. Greatest Hits: God's Favorite Band declines by a few spots on both the Official Albums chart and the Official Albums Streaming ranking, appearing somewhere in the middle of both tallies. The group doubles up on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, which lists only the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in those genres. Dookie, which helped turn the pop-punk upstarts into global superstars decades ago, declines a pair of rungs, making a home at No. 28 this week. American Idiot is having a big week at the moment, and not just because it's climbing after decades of popularity. This frame marks the title's two-hundredth stint on the Official Physical Albums ranking. Next frame, assuming that the collection will hold on — which seems like a given — it will reach 900 stints on the Official Rock & Metal Albums tally.
