Rock Creek Park Horse Center faces uncertain future amid financial challenges
Patrons of the Rock Creek Park Horse Center, a beloved Northwest D.C. institution that provides boarding services for horse owners and riding lessons and summer camps for children, say they fear the facility might close after a contractor that runs key operations said its financial challenges had become 'unsustainable.'
Guest Services Inc., which operates and manages the center under a contract with the National Park Service, said in a statement last week that the pandemic forced 'prolonged closures and restrictions' and the center's 'financial strain has grown to a point where continuing under our stewardship is no longer viable.' The Fairfax-based company did not offer details about what would happen next.
