Donation ceremony from Canadian authorities to the LAF
Wednesday, 28 May 2025 A ceremony was held at the Logistics Brigade Command in Kfarshima for the receipt of medical supplies, equipment, and snowmobiles donated by the Canadian authorities to the LAF. The ceremony was attended by the Canadian Ambassador to Lebanon, Stefanie McCollum, a representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolph Haykal, the Canadian Military Attaché in Lebanon, Major Jawad Al Khairy, and the Canadian training and cooperation team, along with several officers. During the ceremony, the representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Brigadier General PSC Johnny Akl delivered a speech stating: "The trust of the Canadian authorities in the performance of the military institution as a guarantor of Lebanon's security and stability, and as a protector of civil peace, is continuously reflected through the support and cooperation between the LAF and Canadian armies." At the end of the ceremony, Brigadier General PSC Akl presented a commemorative LAF plaque on behalf of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander to Ambassador McCollum in appreciation of her efforts.

He acknowledged the weight of the army's responsibility but expressed full confidence in the troops' resilience. 'No matter how difficult the circumstances, I am certain you will continue the path of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty to safeguard the nation and the dignity of its people.'

Lebanese Army Commander, General Rodolph Haykal, inspected the central operations room in South Lebanon, based at Mohammad Zgheib Barracks in Sidon, where he was briefed on the security measures implemented by deployed military units to ensure the safety of the electoral process. The Army Chief also visited the headquarters of the Fifth Infantry Brigade in Bayyada and received an update on its deployment and accompanying security measures. General Haykal stressed the importance of elections amid current exceptional challenges, saying: 'The success of this electoral process reflects the southerners' commitment to their land, and the army's presence is a vital source of reassurance and resilience.' He added: 'The army firmly stands with the Lebanese people. Despite continued Israeli violations and its occupation of Lebanese territory, these threats will not deter the military from fulfilling its duties.' Concluding his address to the troops, he stated: 'The army is a guarantee of stability, and security institutions are pillars of the state. The Lebanese look to you to safeguard their future—live up to their trust and hopes.'
