Domenico Tedesco rockets as Rangers wildcard with clear Mourinho and Rohl rules set after 49ers next boss list 'leak'
The new Rangers owners are eyeing a new boss as their first big signing of the new era Domenico Tedesco has spoken for the first time amid murmurs over his potential arrival as next Rangers boss. With the 49ers Enterprises and pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh set to take control at Ibrox a new permanent boss is a top priority. Steven Gerrard is reportedly being considered on the longlist of candidates - with Russell Martin, Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil also named as potential candidates. However, among the leaked names is a suggestion that a number of foreign candidates are being considered - with oddsmakers making Tedesco a wildcard for the hot seat this summer. The 39-year-old has been out of work since January after his time as Belgium boss was brought to an end - but holds strong links to Red Bull. He spent two years coaching at RB Leipzig - with the energy drink giants holding close ties to the NFL giants with Red Bull holding a minority stake in the Championship winners. And with speculation ramping up, Tedesco has opened up on his reputation as a "laptop manager" in German outlet Bild as he looks to the future. He said: "I don't think there's a coach these days who doesn't use a laptop. It simply saves time. Some software only runs on laptops. "But I think I already know what the questions were always aiming for. Tactics are something I enjoy. "Working with a laptop and analysing games, I really enjoy that, and then developing ideas. "But the much more important thing is team leadership. You're dealing with people. "They have to play for you, they have to be passionate about you, they have to run for you. And that's the most important thing. "Team leadership, the connection to the team, to the individual players. Of course, a laptop can't reproduce that, not even with AI or something." Another name thrown in from the Red Bull ranks is Danny Rohl - with the 36-year-old has talked about his ambition of managing in the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League this week. The German has hinted he was set to leave Sheffield Wednesday - but the club insist he will stay with Rohl's exit expected to command a massive compensation fee. Despite this, an exit for Rohl appears to be on the cards with reports south of the border suggesting that there has been a "break down" in the relationship between the boss and owner Dejphon Chansiri. Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho has been a dream for some fans as they wait for the takeover of Rangers is rubber-stamped. But the Istanbul giants may have taken the legendary boss out of reach despite rising pressure on Mourinho. In the wake of a trophyless season, some fans have demanded that the Portuguese gaffer is shown the door. But Fener president Ali Koc insists that a massive financial hit is on the cards for the boss if he leaves. He said: 'It takes two to tango. If Mourinho wants to leave, the conditions are clear: there are clauses in the contract that oblige him to give up a year's salary. 'We have a relationship with him, he knows my family, my father, my wife, my son, we eat together often. 'However, I don't know his family, they haven't been to Turkey yet. We're still together, but if the situation changes, we'll see what happens.'. The Istanbul supremo added: 'We want to continue with Mourinho. Halfway through the season, he received an offer of 36 million euros, but he preferred to stay with us." Rangers hit Danny Rohl stumbling block as surging next manager target puts takeover chiefs through financial test
The Sheffield Wednesday manager has launched a charm offensive in the German press - but all may not be as it seems Sheffield Wednesday have moved to cool speculation over Danny Rohl's future - after the boss hinted he was set to leave the club. The highly-rated German boss has rocketed up the next Rangers manager shortlist with bookmakers after suggested that he is set to leave the Owls after the end of the English Championship campaign. Southampton, Leicester City, Fulham and Crystal Palace have all been linked with the boss alongside RB Leipzig - where he was an assistant. And in a series of public statements to German media, he 36-year-old has talked about his ambition of managing in the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League as his next step. Rohl also took the unorthodox step of hyping up Wednesday's Yorkshire rivals Leeds United - owned by 49ers Enterprises who are in the midst of the takeover at Rangers - after their title-winning success this season. Red Bull have close ties to the NFL giants with the energy drink giant holding a minority stake in the Championship winners - sparking speculation that Paarag Marathe and the 49ers could tap into the connection to bring in the next boss. But after the press tour in his homeland, the Hillsborough club insisted that Rohl is still under contract with the club. Rohl - who has a deal at the club until 2027 - claimed he had an "agreement" with owner Dejphon Chansiri over his next step. But a statement released to The Sheffield Star by the club read: 'We can confirm there is no such agreement in place. Danny Röhl remains under contract with Sheffield Wednesday.' Should the incoming owners at Ibrox push to land Rohl, they now face the prospect of paying compensation to land the boss. Wednesday are said to be ready to demand a "large compensation" fee in the region of £5million. That could be an issue for the Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers - who will have to watch their spending due to PSR restrictions. Danny Rohl in Leeds United love letter amid Rangers takeover as he takes charm offensive directly to the 49ers
The Sheffield Wednesday boss has dropped several clues that he is seeking a new adventure away from Hillsborough In-demand boss Danny Rohl has hyped up Leeds United with 49ers Enterprises set to take control of Rangers. The investment wing of the San Francisco 49ers and pharmaceutical tycoon Andrew Cavenagh are set to take control at Ibrox. One of the first targets for the incoming US consortium will be to name a new manager - with Rohl emerging as a wildcard for the hot seat. The German has openly suggested that he is set to leave Sheffield Wednesday after the curtain was pulled down on the English Championship campaign. In a whistle-stop tour of media in his homeland, the 36-year-old has talked about his ambition of managing in the Bundesliga, Premier League and Champions League. Rohl - who began his coaching career at RB Leipzig - has reportedly emerged as a potential target for the new owners having worked with Red Bull. The energy drink giants have close ties to the NFL giants with Red Bull holding a minority stake in the Championship winners. And amid speculation of a link-up with the 49ers in Glasgow, he has heaped praise on their work a Elland Road and chances of succeeding in the top flight after promotion. He told Kicker: 'If you also have teams, if you just take Brentford, that have developed dramatically. Even Brighton, who were able to invest 300 million. "They were also in the Championship five or six years ago. But making that leap will be the challenge for all newly promoted teams. "I'm excited about Leeds, who, in my opinion, have been the best team this season. They have an incredible fan base. "They also have a great German coach, whom I really like. And I hope they can break the barrier.'

Rangers-linked Danny Rohl drops hint over next job
Today, it emerged the German is set to leave Sheffield Wednesday, despite his contract running until 2027. As a result, this has added fuel to the fire that he could come into consideration for the vacant manager's position at Rangers, which is currently being held by interim boss Barry Ferguson. With the US consortium closing in on their takeover of the Ibrox club, it's expected that appointing a new permanent manager will be their top priority upon their arrival. Now, speaking to media outlet Kicker in his homeland, Rohl has outlined where he views his future, with reported interest from Premier League, Bundesliga and Saudi clubs. 'Personally, I had a fantastic time at Sheffield Wednesday," he said. "I've made no secret of the fact that I'd like to work at the highest possible level with the best players in the near future. "And the Bundesliga is, of course, a consideration. And yet, I also know that getting the final nod requires good work, the right people who believe in you, and timing. Read more: "And if all of that comes together, I might have the chance to return to the Bundesliga in the summer, or to return to the Bundesliga right away. "But it could go in a completely different direction. My situation in Sheffield is unofficially relatively clear. "There's a clear agreement with the owner about how I envision my future. Unfortunately, I can't go into detail about that right now.'

Danny Rohl 'favourite' for Southampton as Rangers swirl explodes with next boss complication emerging amid takeover
The Sheffield Wednesday boss has been heavily linked with the Ibrox post - but Saints ready to trigger his £5million release clause Southampton are favourites to land Rangers -linked Danny Rohl. The Sheffield Wednesday boss has been heavily linked with the vacant Ibrox job over the last 24 hours. Speculation has been ramped up with the news that the 35-year-old is set to quit Sheffield Wednesday. Championship rivals Southampton, though, are in the driving seat for the German. The Saints, who have been relegated from the Premier League, are set to trigger his £5million release clause The St Mary's club has made Rohl their top managerial target and believe he can get them back up at the first time of asking. Rohl has previously worked at Southampton and would be keen to return. They have sacked both Russell Martin and Ivan Juric this season. Rohl began his coaching career with Red Bull Leipzig and has also worked at Bayern Munich and been an assistant coach with the German national team. He became the youngest head coach in the English Football League when he was appointed Sheffield Wednesday boss back in 2023. Rangers are continuing to look at managerial options for next season. Barry Ferguson and his backroom team remain in interim charge. Sporting director Kevin Thelwell will come in from Everton officially in the summer but the added complication is that Andrew Cavenagh and his consortium, which includes the 49ers, are looking to complete their takeover.
