Roman Kemp details AWKWARD encounter with Justin Bieber after the singer asked him to critique his 2020 album Changes
Roman Kemp has recalled an excruciating encounter with Justin Bieber during a private listening session for his 2020 album, Changes. What began as a seemingly friendly invitation soon took an awkward turn when Justin, 31, demanded Roman, 32, join him on stage to offer live feedback in front of a roomful of music industry executives. 'He singled me out,' Roman said. 'He said I've got to come up on stage. He plays these tunes to all these label execs, looks at me and goes, "What do you think of that one?"' The former Capital Breakfast host, 32, said he gave his honest opinion: 'It's alright.' Justin, however, did not appear to appreciate the critique. '"Roman said it's alright? Alright?"', he reportedly shot back. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Speaking on the latest episode of his BBC Sounds podcast You About?, co-hosted with singer Tom Grennan, Roman continued: 'At that point, I was like, I've got to double down. So I said, "Well, yeah. It's not your best, not your worst." And that was it... My words were, "It's decent" - but I don't think he appreciated it.' Tom asked: 'You used to be pretty tight with Bieber, didn't you?' To which Roman - son of actor Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman - responded simply: 'Yeah...' While Roman still follows Justin on Instagram, Justin doesn't follow him back. The pair met around the time of the release of Justin's 2015 album, Purpose, with the superstar inviting Roman for drinks a short time later. Roman recalls going out to party with Justin during his younger days, telling The Sun Justin was the 'wildest'. He said in 2021: ''Without a doubt, he [Justin] was the wildest. He's grown into a very different young man now. He's a lot more serious and focused.' Roman and Justin had struck up a friendship after the radio presenter interviewed the superstar in 2015 Bieber gave fans hope that there may be new music around the corner as he shared snaps of him back in the studio on Instagram Roman added: 'I think I was 24, he'd just turned 21 and I remember standing on a sofa in a nightclub looking up and every girl in that room was trying to get my eye to say, "You can come on to this table". It's [a] different world. 'I've seen the scandal he caused but he was a young guy and I was there for him. He's a lovely guy, he writes great music and it was a really fun time.' After the release of Changes, Justin went on to drop the follow-up record Justice the following year. The album garnered much commercial success thanks to the popularity of singles such as Peaches featuring Giveon and Daniel Caesar. The song has racked up more than a billion streams on Spotify alone. Fans have been starved of music from Justin in recent years however, with Justice being the 31-year-old's latest body of work. He gave fans hope recently nevertheless, sharing snaps of him back in the studio to Instagram.

BBC show cancelled TONIGHT in schedule shake-up as Helen Skelton lands TV special amid Gethin Jones romance rumours
A POPULAR BBC show has been pulled off the air tonight as part of a schedule shake-up. Fans hoping to tune into The One Show will be left bitterly disappointed as the magazine show has been taken off-screens this evening. 4 4 4 The show, hosted by Alex Jones and Roman Kemp, will not air today after being given the boot from its usual 7pm timeslot on BBC One. The BBC will instead be broadcasting a special documentary starring Helen Skelton followed by coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. Helen's Lost and Found in the Lakes will air in The One Show's slot followed by a 30-minute special from the Chelsea Flower Show. Coverage of the flower show will then continue on BBC Two at 8pm. Sophie Raworth and Adam Frost will be heading up the coverage as the week-long event draws to a close. Last night, hosts Angellica Bell and Roman addressed the shake-ups as they confirmed that with many special events taking place on Friday, the BBC had shuffled around their programmes to accommodate them. CBB star Angellica said: "We're not on tomorrow as we're making way for The Chelsea Flower Show." He also confirmed that Monday's edition of The One Show would be subject to a shake-up as it has been brought forward to air at 6:30pm instead of 7pm. Instead of The One Show, viewers of the Beeb will get to see Helen Skelton on air in her documentary in the Lake District. Mortified Alex Jones apologises to David Tennant on The One Show after he calls her out for dropping huge spoiler The airing of the show comes amid romance rumours for the TV star after insiders reported she had grown close to her Morning Live co-star Gethin Jones. Helen was snapped with her arms around Gethin's waist as she rode his motorcycle on the way to a breakfast date in Manchester city centre yesterday morning. Fans have been speculating the pair are more than just friends recently and an insider claimed sparks are flying behind the scenes. Gethin added to the rumours recently when he called Helen "superwoman" in an Instagram post following their 24 hour non-stop roller-skating marathon for Comic Relief. It is understood the pair have been spending an increasing amount of time together outside of the studio. A source told MailOnline: "Helen and Gethin have an extremely close working relationship and there's a feeling in recent months their friendship has blossomed into a deeper connection. You About? Roman Kemp and Tom Grennan reveal the conversations they usually save for the group chat in a brand new podcast
You About? is a brand-new BBC podcast from broadcaster Roman Kemp and musician Tom Grennan - a raw, funny and honest look into their real-life friendship and the conversations they usually save for the group chat. Commissioned by BBC Radio 5 Live and produced by Insanity Studios, this new series which launches on BBC Sounds on Tuesday 20 May, offers listeners a window into the unfiltered, unscripted conversations that only true mates can have. Expect banter, heart-to-hearts, and plenty of laughs as Roman and Tom go deep into everything from mental health to fashion faux pas, all while keeping it 100% real. 'You About? is exactly what it sounds like—just two mates chatting about life,' says Roman. 'It's not very planned, but that's what makes it feel real.' Tom adds: 'It's a proper chance for people to see who we really are, not just the version of us you get on stage or on TV.' The two first became mates in 2018 - after meeting at the gym - and have been close ever since. Now, they're bringing that same energy to a podcast that's as warm, honest and hilarious as their real-life friendship. Richard Maddock, Commissioning Editor at BBC Radio 5 Live, says: 'Roman and Tom have a really special friendship. They are two mates from two different backgrounds who crossed paths with each other and became the best of friends. Their conversations are genuine, authentic and some amazing stories to tell. Whether they're talking about music, football, gossip, relationships or their celebrity circles, you never know what they are going to say next.' With Roman's TV and radio background, and Tom's music and down-to-earth charm, the podcast brings together two very different worlds - and plenty of shared experiences. Both are passionate advocates for mental health and hope the podcast gives listeners something they can relate to, laugh along with, and maybe even find comfort in. 'We'll talk about the stuff we go through in our own lives and how we deal with it,' says Tom. 'If even one person listening feels a bit less alone, then that means everything.' While the series will focus on Roman and Tom's 'bromance', listeners can expect the occasional cameo from their wide circle of friends 'We've got a lot to talk about already,' Roman laughs. 'But we're open to throwing the group chat wide open." You About? will premiere on BBC Sounds on Tuesday 20 May, with new episodes released weekly, plus an exclusive bonus episode available only on BBC Sounds each week. Listen to You About? on BBC Sounds from Tuesday 20 May AG/MCL Interview with Roman Kemp and Tom Grennan Can you describe you new podcast, You About?, in three words? Roman: Not very planned! Podcasting is very different to broadcasting or performing. How are you feeling about it? Tom: I'm excited to let people in and get a glimpse of what we're like when we get together as mates, behind closed doors! Roman: I think it will be more like conversations between friends for the listener. I think you can have that raw honesty, and I think people are more willing to accept the honesty. When did your friendship begin? And how did it all start? Roman: It was 2018. It was before I went into the jungle. I saw Tom naked in the gym shower. I thought, 'If you can't beat them, join them.' How did the idea for the podcast come about? Roman: The opportunity was offered to us… Tom: We did ring each other, and we were like, "we're being giving us this great opportunity. Shall we do it?" And we were like, "Yeah, of course, let's do it." Roman: Yeah, exactly. It's a nice opportunity to do. Tom: … Just to hang out with your mate. Roman: Exactly. It doesn't feel like a job when it's a podcast like this because we're just hanging out. What topics are you hoping to cover? Tom: Anything and everything. Total honesty, no holds barred. Roman: You'll hear us be really vulnerable with each other in one moment and then tear each other apart in the next. It will be a true reflection of the conversations that we have anyway, but now it's not just us listening in. Will there be any surprise guests joining you? Tom: We spoke about guests but right now, I feel like it's going to be just us two to begin with. We're going to have good conversations and see where the podcast takes us. Roman: Yeah, I think it really depends, you know. We've got a lot of ground to cover ourselves, but our friendship group does go wider than just the two of us, so, we'll occasionally be opening our little black book to see who wants to come down and join the chat. And we're always open to our listeners telling us who they want to join us too. You're both advocates for mental health. How will the podcast touch on this? Tom: I think the podcast will allow listeners to hear about what we have going on in our lives and in our minds, but not only that, it is yet another way that we can talk through our experiences with mental health - what techniques we use to navigate our own journeys and hopefully that will help others. Tom, describe your favourite thing about Roman. Tom: I think Roman is very much a person who says it how it is. He is very real, and I like that about him because he just reminds me of my mates from home. I mean, there's no bullshit and he's just very much true to his words. Roman, describe your favourite thing about Tom. Roman: Sensitivity. It's a mixture of sensitivity and empathy, I guess. These are traits that I look for in people - to see how they get on with other people around them, and how they treat them. A question for you both, what are each other's worst or most annoying habits? Tom: That he is an Arsenal fan! Roman: Ok, sorry, Tom. The clothes look fantastic… but he wears clothes that don't look comfortable for the scenario he's in, and I don't believe him when he says he's comfortable! Last week, we were just hanging out on the sofa, and he was all dressed up, he was wearing loafers and jeans. He even had a belt on! I was in a tracksuit. He just looked so uncomfortable! Finally, what makes a really good friend? Tom: Someone you can be honest with and take the piss out of. Roman: A good listener? I feel like when we chat, we really listen to each other. It's not a one-way conversation, and that's really important. Tom: I think that's also how you connect with someone on a different level. You're willing to understand and talk about all sorts, including mental health stuff.

Michael McIntyre attends Warner Bros Studio Tour just hours after dismayed comedian watched his beloved £195,000 Mercedes get TOWED in Kensington
Michael McIntyre looked in great spirits as he attended the launch of a brand-new feature at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London on Wednesday - just hours after his luxury sports car was towed in High Street Kensington. The comedian, 49, joined pal Roman Kemp, 32, along with Made In Chelsea stars Tristan Phipps and Julia Pollard, to celebrate the opening of the major new attraction: The Triwizard Tournament - Making of Champions. The new feature unveils the British filmmaking secrets behind Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at how the fourth film in the series was brought to life. To kick off the celebrations, Michael, Roman, and England women's rugby star Maud Muir, 23, were treated to theatrical Beauxbatons and Durmstrang performances, reenacting their iconic entrances to the Hogwarts Great Hall. The trio then approached the legendary Goblet of Fire to submit their names, mirroring the brave champions from the film. For the event, Michael looked dapper in a dark blue suit paired with a pale pink shirt. The star beamed from ear-to-ear as he posed up a storm in the elegantly decorated Gryffindor common room. Meanwhile, Roman opted for a more relaxed look, wearing a white ribbed T-shirt and black drawstring trousers as he caught up with his friend. Comedian Henry Rowley also attended the event and was wowed by the impressive displays at the newly revealed Backlot Stage, where fans can explore special effects techniques - from the creation of the Hungarian Horntail dragon to how filmmakers depicted Harry Potter holding his breath underwater. Later, Michael and Roman explored the splendour of the Great Hall, where they were welcomed by fan-favourite characters Mad-Eye Moody and wizarding journalist Rita Skeeter, best known for her poison pen articles. Elsewhere, Maud Muir took a daring walk through the Forbidden Forest, where Hagrid's dramatic reveal of the first Triwizard Tournament task to Harry Potter has now been recreated. Open to the public from May 15 to September 8, the immersive new feature grants fans exclusive access to the Backlot Stage for the first time. The indoor venue includes a digital screen, stage, and tiered seating, offering a deep dive into how the action-packed tournament scenes were brought to life. The launch coincides with the 20th anniversary of The Goblet of Fire, marked by a month-long celebration. Earlier this week, Londoners were left spellbound as a 'captured' 25-foot-long Hungarian Horntail dragon roamed the capital before returning safely to its rightful home at the Studio Tour. Weighing 1.3 tonnes, the animatronic creature recreates the nail-biting scene where the dragon breaks free of its chains during the tournament's first task - and will embark on a UK tour throughout May. Michael's appearance at the event comes hours after he was photographed speaking to an official as his high-end £195,000 sports car was hoisted onto the back of a lorry with its wheels clamped. The comedian looked unimpressed as he had an animated discussion with an official, who wore a yellow hi-vis jacket as builders watched on. The funnyman looked dapper in a navy suit and pink shirt while he sported his signature square glasses for his unfortunate outing into the city. Michael's vehicle, a Mercedes-AMG GT R, had been hoisted onto the back of a tow truck as it was moved from the street. The TV star's vehicle was towed after it was parked in a parking bay reserved for police vehicles. MailOnline has contacted Michael's representatives for comment. Michael's specific car model retails for anywhere between £155,000 to £195,000 and boasts a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. The limited-edition vehicle can produce 585 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds, with a limit just shy of 200mph. It is not his first car from the German automotive brand, as he also owned a dark blue Mercedes AMG GT, which he purchased back in 2014. The $144,000 motor boasted some very lavish features, including climate control, leather upholstery and parking assistance with a 360-degree camera. It also boasts full LED headlamps, alloy wheels of at least 20 inches and heated front and rear seats. Michael has long boasted a luxury collection of cars and has also owned expensive vehicles, including a Ferrari and a Jaguar, over the years. The stand-up comic has also been spotted driving a £150,000 Ferrari California, which has a top speed of 193mph and can do 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. Back in 2010, Michael also purchased a £80,000 Jaguar XK convertible to ferry himself around the country. The supercar has a V8 5.0 litre engine and can go from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. His top-of-the-range line-up of cars is also said to include a BMW X5 and a Porsche Cayenne. Michael has previously told how he and his wife Kitty spent years living in rented flats and at one point were £40,000 in debt before he found national fame as a comedian. Now, Michael is said to have a staggering net worth of £80million and also owns at least two multi-million-pound properties in the UK.
