Former NFL GM trashes Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger

In 2027, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And he will go in on the first ballot. Roethlisberger has two Super Bowl Championships, was Rookie of the Year, and led the NFL in passing yards twice. Roethlisberger was almost never the best quarterback in the NFL during his time, primarily because of a guy named Tom Brady who dominated the league. Nevertheless, Roethlisberger is the greatest statistical quarterback in franchise history. But former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum decided, while talking on ESPN First Take, to throw some serious disrespect at Roethlisberger in comparing him to some of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Tannebaum said in a group that included Roethlisberger, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert and Jordon Love. Tannenbaum said that he wouldn't take Big Ben over either of the other four. "I look at more from a GM perspective of if we were drafting them," Tannenbaum said. "I'll give you Eli Manning in '04, but if Ben Roethlisberger was in a group with Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, and Jordan Love, I'm not sure I'm taking Ben over any of those guys. And that's where I think '04 is a little top heavy." On paper, we can concede if things continue as they are, Hurts and Burrow could both end up with better careers. They both have incredible talent around them, and organizations are committed to winning with them as the focal point. But for Tannenbaum to lump in Herbert and Love is mind-numbing. Then I remembered, Tannenbaum's most memorable pick as a general manager was quarterback Mark Sanchez, whom he took No. 5 overall in a trade up, so take his quarterback analysis with a grain of salt.

While Clark is known for making a lot of 3-pointers, though she comes into Friday's competition as an underdog given the circumstances of this year. This season, Clark — who has battled through injuries and limited to 12 games this season — is shooting 28.9 percent from beyond the arc, which is the lowest percentage among the competitors. Still, there is no denying that Clark has the range to compete in the 3-point contest. In her historic collegiate career, she set the Division I record for most 3-pointers made (548) on a 37.7 percent success rate. Multiple Sixers highlight Jared McCain's vocal leadership in summer

LAS VEGAS -- Philadelphia 76ers guard Jared McCain is continuing to recover from December surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee, but he is still remaining active with his team as he prepares for his second season. As the Sixers continue with the summer league in Las Vegas, McCain has been an active member of the team. Despite not being able to play, the second-year guard from Duke has been hanging around the team and has been a presence in practice as he looks to help the youngsters grow. On Monday, summer league coach TJ DiLeo highlighted how active and vocal he has been in practice to help the youngsters continue to grow. "He spoke up in a film session today," DiLeo said. "We came over here (in the team's film area) and he's sitting here. I was like, 'Hey, more that. Whenever you want to do that. Like you're part of this.' Like, it's something. It's great. All these messages coming from me, the coaching staff, but when a guy like him as someone who's been through it a year of it in the NBA, these guys look at him and when he can say something, and make a point? Like, they take that." McCain was on his way to being a prime Rookie of the Year candidate when he did play in the 2024-25 season as he averaged 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 23 games. He is somebody the younger Sixers can look to in this instance and try to emulate as they begin their careers. "It's huge," said undrafted rookie guard Hunter Sallis. "He was just in my position last year. So being able to learn from someone who has so much success, you know, his rookie year, is huge. So it's definitely great having him around." McCain is expected to make a full recovery and be ready when the season starts in October. The Sixers will be looking for him to be a big part of the team's backcourt rotation and give Philadelphia some good minutes at the guard spot just as he did as a rookie before he underwent his surgery.

Pritchard was the favorite to win Sixth Man of the Year for virtually all of last season before officially taking home the award in April. Second on the board is Cleveland's De'Andre Hunter at +800. Hunter was drafted fourth in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Lakers but spent most of his career in Atlanta until being acquired by the Cavaliers in February 2025. He averaged 17 points and 4.0 rebounds in 2024 and received two first-place votes in last season's Sixth Man voting.
