REVEALED: Aberdeen's Ross McCrorie sell-on percentage as Bristol City's ex-Don linked with £3million Udinese move and potential bidding war

Former Aberdeen utility man Ross McCrorie could stand to net the Pittodrie club another BIG pay-day if he leaves Bristol City this summer. The 27-year-old has been linked with Italian Serie A side Udinese, who are reportedly eyeing a £3million swoop for McCrorie – who Aberdeen sold to Bristol for £2m in 2023. While it has always been common knowledge, the Dons inserted a sell-on clause into their deal with the Robins for McCrorie, The Press and Journal can confirm the percentage due to the Pittodrie club is 20%. In further good news for the Reds during their own summer rebuild, Norwich City and sides in US Major League Soccer have also been credited with an interest in McCrorie, raising the possibility of a bidding war which could increase his price-tag further. If Udinese land defensive midfielder/right-back McCrorie for £3m, Aberdeen stand to pocket a tidy six-figure sum. McCrorie made 114 stars for Aberdeen between 2020 and 2023, having joined on an initial loan-to-buy deal from rivals Rangers, before signing for the Dons permanently in January 2021. The one-cap Scotland international made 26 appearances for Bristol City last season, scoring five goals. On the Championship's opening weekend for the new campaign, McCrorie scored with a cracking finish and also provided an assist in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United. Udinese only just completed a deal for ex-Aberdeen striker Lee Miller's son, Lennon, on Tuesday. The Italian outfit struck a £4.75m deal with Motherwell for the highly-rated young midfield playmaker.

Bristol City star set to become the latest Scot to hit Serie A... as Italian top flight goes ga-ga for Tartan talent

Ross McCrorie could be the next Scot to head for Italy — with Udinese weighing up a move for the Bristol City midfielder. Established at Ashton Gate, the 27-year-old has interest from fellow Championship side Norwich City, but it's the Serie A outfit who look primed to pay the £3.5million asking price. Udinese, who are set to sign Lennon Miller from Motherwell for £4.75m, have also identified McCrorie as key to their plans of pushing for a European place this season. The former Rangers and Aberdeen player joined City in 2023 after three years at Pittodrie and was part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad at last year's European Championships. If the moves go through, McCrorie and Miller would join the growing band of Scots playing in Italy. Bristol City's Ross McCrorie was part of Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for Euro 2024 McCrorie could now be set to link up with fellow Scotland star Lennon Miller in Udine Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour won the title last year with Napoli, with the former also nominated for the ballon d'Or. Che Adams has spent the last year with Torino, Josh Doig is at Sassuolo while Liam Henderson has just joined Sampdoria, having already played for no fewer than five Italian clubs across the past seven seasons. Udinese, who are managed by German boss Kosta Runjaic, already boast former Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis and one-time Celtic striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo in their squad.

Twine 'influential' and McCrorie reaping rewards

Scott Twine played in a central position and had defensive responsibilities, and we've seen him get involved in a couple of duels in the middle of the pitch and come out on top, nick a couple of was destructive in attack. The free-kick was class. We know that he's got it in his locker but to execute that, you almost had the feeling when they got the free-kick that he was going to score from it and he didn't disappoint. He was influential again in attacking manoeuvres and he got a bit of luck with the deflected shot that went past the goals for him and it gives him a lot of confidence to take forward into the season. Ross McCrorie probably had a lot of talent that we didn't see [last season]. He was so unlucky to pick up the injury that kept him out for such a long time. He's certainly reaping the rewards now. He's versatile, we know he can play on the left, he's good in the air, defensively he's solid and he's having goals which are all Mehmeti was a constant thorn in the side of Sheffield United. But City came out of the traps really sharply in the second half, winning the ball high up the pitch and then when that cross came in from the right-hand side, he was in the right place at the right time. Nice to see him get off the mark early in the season. Emil Riis gives them a different dimension. They've got a focal point now, they've got someone to aim for, they've got someone that can pin defenders and make it difficult and can pick up second balls.
