Kuwait hospitals recognized for modern medical training and technology
KUWAIT CITY, April 20: A delegation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) on Saturday commended the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialties (KIMS) for its accredited medical education and training system, as well as its strict adherence to international standards of educational quality. The remarks were made during a reception hosted by the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of KIMS, Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi, who welcomed the visiting Canadian delegation. The meeting was also attended by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Acting Secretary-General of KIMS, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi; Assistant Secretary-General for Specialized Colleges Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Rajab; along with the heads of KIMS's Postgraduate Studies, Examinations, and Quality and Accreditation Offices. In a press statement, Minister Al-Awadhi expressed his gratitude to the Canadian delegation for their thorough and comprehensive evaluation of KIMS's training standards. He emphasized that supporting the healthcare workforce remains a cornerstone of strengthening Kuwait's national health system. Dr. Al-Awadhi highlighted that the visit forms part of the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Health and KIMS to enhance medical education, improve specialized training, and build national capacities. It also aligns with the regular institutional accreditation review processes for KIMS and its specialized programs in pediatrics, basic surgery, and anatomical pathology. They commended the availability of specialized trainers and the presence of advanced medical and surgical technologies observed during their field visits to Jahra, Farwaniya, Jaber Al-Ahmad, Maternity, and Al-Razi Hospitals, as well as the Sabah Al-Ahmad Urology Center. The visit concluded with the head of the Canadian delegation presenting a set of recommendations, which will be submitted to the Accreditation Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
