Ahmed Saad lights up summer with first part of new album - Music - Arts & Culture
Egyptian singer Ahmed Saad has released the first part of his new album, Beyestahbel, which features cheerful, summer-themed tracks that have already gained significant traction across streaming platforms, shedding light on his collaboration with Amr Saad and Ruby. Released on 16 July, the first part of the album features five tracks: the title song Beyestahbel, Akhouya (a collaboration with his brother, Amr Saad), Mekassarat, Tany (a duet with Ruby), and Batta. The second part will be released on 24 July and will include five additional tracks. The already released songs are filled with upbeat rhythms and playful tone, marking a continuation of Saad's signature style while offering a fresh, carefree sound that resonates with listeners during the peak of the season. Beyestahbel (loosely translated to Playing Dumb) is a light‑hearted, playful, and a bit tongue‑in‑cheek song that frames a character who "pretends to be silly." The song serves as a microcosm of the album's style: humorous, upbeat, experimental, and aimed squarely at summer listeners seeking energetic and relatable content. Another track, titled Akhouya (My Brother), features the singer's brother, actor Amr Saad. The lyrics emphasise siblings' emotional bonding, trust, and mutual support, especially in the face of adversity. Third in line comes Mekassarat, a song that conveys a message of saying "no" to perfectionism and stress, advocating for personal well-being and mental peace over societal pressure. It captures the carefree essence of summer and 'mental liberation'. The music video quickly rose to the top of YouTube, garnering almost 700,000 views in just four days and ranking #3 on the Charts for Trending music. In turn, the song titled Tany (Again) garnered almost 1 million views on YouTube, in large part due to Saad's collaboration with well-known singer Ruby. This is the second time the two singers have collaborated, after the success of their previous 2023 hit Ya Layaly. The song's lyrics are built around a playful, light-hearted concept of encountering someone "again" and questioning why they have returned now, especially after one has moved on. Similar to other songs from the album, Tany's music video relies on vibrant summer aesthetics—bold outfits, playful banter, and expressive choreography—matching the upbeat nature of the song. The final song in the set is titled Batta, a fun and comedic song whose lyrics describe a confident and captivating woman who stands out in any crowd, with her unique presence and the effect she has on those around her. All five songs from the first part of the Beyestahbel album garnered between 400,000 and 1 million views so far. Complementing the summer vibes, the songs blend traditional shaabi elements with contemporary pop and dance influences, with each being accompanied by a visually compelling music video. Directed by renowned filmmakers like Taha El-Tounsi and Ahmed Abdel-Wahid, the videos are characterised by their high production values and engaging narratives. Ahmed Saad The 43-year-old pop and shaabi singer came to the limelight in 2003, releasing several albums and many successful hits since then. His single Aleky Eyoun, released in 2022, has garnered over 300 million views on YouTube. Saad often collaborates with various Arab musicians, including Assala, Ruby, Hany Shaker, and Bahaa Sultan. Blackpink's Jennie admits she is hopeless romantic, says ‘fate disappointed me'; opens up about her ideal type
BLACKPINK's Jennie recently sat down for a fun chat with YouTuber Amelia Dimoldenberg on Chicken Shop Date and made some exciting confessions about her take on love, life, and her ideal type. The South Korean rapper has often been linked to fellow K-pop stars over the years. While Jennie herself has always stayed tight-lipped about her dating life, this time she did admit that she considers herself a very romantic person and is usually the one to take the first step. The Ruby singer also confessed that she's a big believer in love at first sight. Also read: BTS' RM and Jungkook admit Kim Taehyung has changed: 'We can't keep up anymore, he's stronger' During the 10 minute quick chat, the singer was asked if she's a romantic person, to which she replied, 'I consider myself to be very romantic.' When asked in what way, she added, 'I like to surprise my date.' On what could be the best compliment she'd give someone, Jennie said she doesn't like people easily, so when she does, she tells them that, according to her, could be taken as a compliment. Jennie was also quizzed on how often she gets a love hangover, and she playfully said, 'Maybe every other weekend.' She admitted she's not a fan of those hangovers, but she can't really avoid them either. Also read: 'BLACKPINK's new track is so bad, it's hilarious': Fans slam 'JUMP' as a 'B-class' song In South Korea, idol culture often keeps stars from being too open about their dating life, but fans were glad Jennie was so candid. Later in the chat, when Amelia asked if she believes in fate, Jennie said, 'I do,' but followed it up with, 'Fate has disappointed me.' She added it's less now, and she's back to deciding her own fate. When asked if having a crush excites her, Jennie said, 'I haven't been on a date in a very long time, so this is exhilarating.' As for her ideal type, she shared, 'I don't like cute guys. Sexy guys don't know they're sexy, but cute guys know they're cute.' And when asked if she'd date someone with no rhythm, Jennie replied, 'Rhythm is so important. It's everything. I don't want to date someone who's so stiff.' Jennie's dating life has always been a hot topic. The singer was first reported to be dating EXO's Kai during her debut era. They publicly dated from October 2018 to January 2019, with SM Entertainment confirming the relationship at the time. Old clips still resurface online showing the two stealing glances at public events. When the Chicken Shop Date host asked Jennie if she believes in love at first sight, Jennie replied, 'That's been my life,' adding, 'I know instantly whether it's gonna work or not.' Fans felt she might've been hinting at one of those times where her romance fizzled before turning into a fairytale ending. She was also linked to BIGBANG's G-Dragon. More recently, she's been rumoured to be dating BTS' Kim Taehyung, aka V. Fans have pieced together clues, but neither side has ever confirmed anything. Reports say they parted ways in 2024 before V enlisted for military service. On the work front, she's back with her fellow BLACKPINK members Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo. The group, still under YG, kicked off their Deadline World Tour earlier this month.

Why French spies' getaway nuclear sub plan collapsed – Rainbow Warrior: A Forgotten History
New Zealand police caught up with the crew at Australia's Norfolk Island but had to let them go for lack of evidence. The crew then disappeared and were picked up by a French nuclear submarine, the Ruby, and whisked away back to France – or so the popular legend goes. In fact, the Ruby evacuation never happened because of political game-playing in the higher levels of French bureaucracy, according to the man who planted the bombs on the Rainbow Warrior, Jean Luc Kister. The former DGSE (Directorate-General for External Security) combat diver, who spoke to the podcast at length about the details and planning of the operation, said the nuclear sub could have been a getaway option for the spies. The Ruby was in the Pacific at the time and the divers were used to working with submarines, he said. The Ruby could have waited in international waters about 20km offshore and sent a Zodiac dinghy to collect the crew from a beach. But the plan collapsed because senior DGSE staff didn't want the Navy to know anything about their secret mission in New Zealand and the crew had to use a boat instead. 'They say, 'No, we don't want to involve the Navy in that'. And so it was abandoned.' French agents brought bombs into New Zealand on the yacht Ouvea. Photo / Maurice Whitham Kister explodes another longstanding myth about the Rainbow Warrior operation – a mysterious secret agent called Francois Verlet, who allegedly visited the Rainbow Warrior posing as a tourist on the evening of July 10, asked questions of the crew and then flew out to Tahiti. After the bombing, everyone assumed he was a DGSE agent doing last-minute reconnaissance. New Zealand authorities dismissed his vehement denials as lies – perhaps not surprisingly, as by this stage they had several captured French spies spinning similar cover stories – and Verlet even appears in a declassified SIS document as the mission co-ordinator. But Kister said he had never heard of Verlet and he knew everyone involved in the mission. 'This guy, he was just there – and he was French, unfortunately.' The podcast also examines the role the SIS played in the police investigation, including an 'embedded' officer Jamie Mercer (not his real name) who earned an international reputation for turning spies to the West. Mercer was a close colleague of John Daniell's stepfather 'Jim' and Daniell still has a photo of Mercer teaching him to shoot a slug gun at the age of 10 in Mercer's back yard. 'I remember saying to him, 'Are we allowed to be shooting guns here? Like, what about the police?' 'And he said, 'Oh, I work with the police quite a lot, I think it'll be okay.'' Former SIS officer "Jamie Mercer" teaches a 10-year-old John Daniell to fire a slug gun in his Christchurch back yard. Photo / Bird of Paradise Productions Rainbow Warrior: A Forgotten History is a six-episode true crime series. Follow the series on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. New episodes are released on Thursdays. The series is hosted and produced by John Daniell and Noelle McCarthy of Bird of Paradise Productions in co-production with the New Zealand Herald. Rainbow Warrior: A Forgotten History is supported by New Zealand on Air.

If you're anything like us, you've been obsessing over Ruby and James since that gut-punch of a finale in Season 1. The German teen drama, based on Mona Kasten's Save Me trilogy, hooked millions of us with its swoony romance and high-stakes drama when it hit Prime Video in May 2024. It became the platform's biggest international original series practically overnight. So, what's the deal with Season 2? Let's dive into the release date, cast, and what we can expect from our favourite elite boarding school. Maxton Hall Season 2 Release Date Mark your calendars: Maxton Hall Season 2 lands on Prime Video on November 7, 2025. We know, it feels like forever, right? Filming kicked off in June 2024 and wrapped up by September, with the crew bouncing between Berlin, London, and a stunning castle near Hanover. Some fans on X were crossing their fingers for an earlier release, like spring or summer 2025, but Prime Video shut down those rumors with the official November date. They're promising a slick production, with top-notch dubbing and subtitles for fans worldwide. Runa Greiner as Ember: Part of Ruby's growing circle of friends. Andrea Guo as Lin Wang: Another friend adding depth to the group dynamics. While Clelia Sarto's character, Claudelia Beaufort, passed away in Season 1, there's a chance she could appear in flashbacks. New characters are also expected to join, introducing fresh dynamics, though specific details about newcomers remain under wraps. What to Expect in Maxton Hall Season 2 Season 2 picks up where that heartbreaking cliffhanger left off, diving into Save You , the second book in Mona Kasten's series. If you thought Season 1 was intense, brace yourself—things are about to get messy. Without giving away too much, here's what you can expect: Ruby and James' Rocky Romance : After their steamy night in Oxford, Ruby's on cloud nine, dreaming of her future. Can she keep her dreams alive? : Ruby's got her sights set on Oxford, but those scandalous photos with Mr. Sutton from Season 1 are coming back to haunt her. Can she keep her dreams alive? Darker, Grittier Tone: Damian Hardung called Season 2 'grim and dark' in a recent chat, hinting at heavy themes like grief and trauma. It's not all doom and gloom, though—there'll be plenty of those heart-fluttering Ruby-and-James moments to balance it out. The teaser trailer dropped in July 2024, and it's a lot. Ruby's watching James dance with another girl at a party (ouch), and there's a scene of her running from school in tears. But don't lose hope—there are glimpses of them holding hands and getting cozy, so their love story's far from over. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication .
