Can This Fish Really Control Blood Sugar, Cut Cholesterol, And Boost Heart Health?
1/6 Bengalis are known for their love of fish, yet they remain highly selective about the varieties they consume. While Hilsa, Rui, Katla, Pabda, and Parsa dominate traditional Bengali kitchens, certain other fish, despite their nutritional benefits, are often ignored, especially strongly-scented varieties. Now, new research suggests that one such underrated marine fish could play a powerful role in managing serious health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and liver problems. In an era where diabetes, high cholesterol, and cardiovascular disease are becoming household concerns, a recent scientific study has shed light on the unexpected health benefits of Bhola Bhetki, a marine fish native to Indian coastal waters. Long overlooked by many due to its strong smell, this fish may offer remarkable medicinal potential. 3/6 The breakthrough comes from collaborative research conducted by professors and students from Belda College and Vidyasagar University in Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal, along with Raja Narendralal Khan Women's College, Medinipur. Led by Professor Kaushik Das (Belda College), the study began in 2017–18 and involved contributions from Professor Srabanti Pain, Jayshree Laha, and student researchers including Sanjay Das, Supriya Bhowmik, and Sayan Panda.

Demon Slayer: Why Tanjiro's kindness makes him one of anime's most loved heroes
Credit- Fandom In a demon-ridden world of darkness and despair, one virtuous spirit glows incandescently. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has become one of the most successful hits of the past few years, noted for its beautiful animation, breathtaking fight scenes and poignant storytelling. What truly makes the show stand out even further is its primary protagonist—Tanjiro Kamado. In contrast to many action heroes who slash and brawl their way through enemies with brute force or fury, Tanjiro is a fighter whose core strength comes from kindness and compassion. Even while fighting the most deadly demons, he never loses sight of his own humanity. This rare combo elevates him from a mere great swordsman to one of the most wholesome and memorable anime leads ever. A hero with a heart: Tanjiro Kamado's story explained Tanjiro's life is completely shattered one day when demons slaughter his whole family, and his little sister Nezuko is turned into one. Rather than succumb to rage or hopelessness, he takes a more challenging road. He'll become a Demon Slayer and discover a cure for Nezuko. He begins his journey as a lowly charcoal merchant residing in the highlands. When tragedy does find him, Tanjiro trains more than just to become strong enough to defeat demons, he trains to protect others, to bring hope to those suffering in darkness as he does. His real strength lies in his imperfection. The same is true with Richie, his emotional strength, his ability to feel deeply and forgive and stay kind—is what makes him so special. More than a warriors Tanjiro's compassion as a fighter Unlike most anime protagonists who are courageous and strong, when faced with an obstacle the first reaction is nearly always defeatism. Tanjiro has these powers too, but his true power comes from his ability to feel empathy—even for his enemies. Each time Tanjiro kills a demon, he never takes joy in it. Instead, he laments their suffering. He weeps for them too, for even they were made in the image of God—men and women who hurt, who grieved their own slain children, who were devoured by evil. 'It's not just about killing demons—it's about understanding them.' One arguably most memorable example of this is found in the midst of his intense showdown with Rui from the Spider Family. Rui was definitely a sadistic piece of shit but I think in spite of this Tanjiro would still come away pitying Rui. Instead, he targeted the actual perpetrator of evil— Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon lord who had transformed Rui into a demon—rather than going after the demon monster. The Mugen Train movie: Proof of Tanjiro's pure soul In the blockbuster movie Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, we witness the truest form of Tanjiro's spirit. When a pack of lost children under the control of demon Enmu enter the dreams of Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, they are commanded to break their spiritual cores, killing them instantly. Yet when one of the children enters Tanjiro's dream, he finds himself in a world of light, warmth, and peace. Even within his own soul, Tanjiro is unfailingly kind. He keeps his cool and doesn't lash out or retaliate. Instead, his ghost subtly controls the kid to the center, providing help—even at the price of his life. That moment had fans in tears and highlighted just how rare and how powerful Tanjiro's compassion truly is. Kindness that changes others: How Tanjiro inspires his friends Tanjiro's kind heart is an absolute force of nature, and its ability to change demons is matched by its ability to transform the people in Tanjiro's orbit. Characters like Kanao, who had only the barest flicker of choice and emotion in their lives, start to develop emotionally due to Tanjiro's compassion. Even inscrutable badasses like Genya and Inosuke, who are introduced as brash misfits, end up softening their ways once they begin journeying alongside Tanjiro. Tanjiro doesn't just vanquish evil; he brings out the good in others, turning killers into more compassionate people. His kindness is the longer the healing salve. It gets folks connected, it gets them trusting, and it serves as a kind of collective witness that even in a world going to hell, what we do together is still awesome and still counts. A message that resonates: Why fans love Tanjiro around the world In anime, we're used to seeing loud, over-the-top heroes. But Tanjiro is different. He's calm, respectful, and deeply fans see Tanjiro as a symbol of hope—someone who never gives up, even when life is unfair or heartbreaking. In a time when the world feels uncertain, a character like Tanjiro reminds us that kindness is powerful, and empathy can make a real difference. His story proves that even one gentle soul can change the world. Where to watch Demon Slayer Ready to meet Tanjiro Kamado? You can stream Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the Mugen Train movie on: Crunchyroll Netflix Hulu Funimation Episodes are available in both English sub and dub formats. Final thoughts: Tanjiro's kindness is his greatest strength Tanjiro Kamado isn't just another anime hero—he's a reminder that compassion can be just as powerful as a sword. In a world full of demons, violence, and grief, his kindness lights the way. It touches everyone he meets—humans and demons alike—and gives fans a reason to believe in something better. Through Tanjiro, Demon Slayer teaches us this simple but powerful truth: being kind is never a weakness. It's what makes a true hero. 5 things you should eat every morning if you want to beat ageing
When it comes to reversing or slowing the signs of ageing, there's no miracle cream that can match the power of what you put on your plate, especially first thing in the morning. Your breakfast can either speed up cellular ageing or help your skin glow, boost your energy, and sharpen your mind. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now If you want to age gracefully, look youthful, and feel vibrant as you get older, these five foods are essential to include in your morning routine. Berries: Your daily dose of antioxidants Berries like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries are bursting with antioxidants, which are crucial for fighting free radicals, the unstable molecules that accelerate ageing. These vibrant fruits are also rich in Vitamin C, which boosts collagen production, keeps your skin supple, and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In addition to their skin-boosting powers, berries are packed with fibre that helps regulate blood sugar levels and supports a healthy gut microbiome. Since gut health is closely linked to inflammation and skin ageing, starting your day with berries can give you that inside-out glow. How to eat them: Sprinkle berries over Greek yoghurt, blend them into a smoothie, or add them to your oatmeal. Nuts and seeds: The youthful fat you need Almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, flaxseeds, and pumpkin seeds are tiny powerhouses of anti-ageing goodness. They're packed with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and zinc, nutrients that protect your skin from sun damage, retain its elasticity, and reduce inflammation. Omega-3s also support brain health and keep your joints flexible, while vitamin E fights oxidative stress. Regular consumption of nuts and seeds can improve skin hydration, decrease the appearance of age spots, and keep you energised throughout the day. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now How to Eat Them: Mix them into your morning cereal, yoghurt, or smoothie, or simply eat a handful as a power-packed topping. Indian fatty fish (Like rohu or surmai): Protein and omega-3 power For those who prefer a savoury breakfast, including Indian fatty fish like Rohu (Rui) or Surmai (King Mackerel) can do wonders for your skin and overall health. These locally available fish are rich in high-quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for maintaining skin elasticity, preventing sagging, and reducing inflammation. Omega-3s help maintain the skin's lipid barrier, keeping it plump and moisturised. These fish also contain vitamin D, essential for bone strength and immune function. Including them in your diet can help combat hormonal imbalances and oxidative stress, two major contributors to premature ageing. How to Eat It: Grill or steam a small fillet and serve with whole grains and vegetables for a protein-rich, anti-ageing breakfast. Leafy greens: Nature's collagen booster You can't go wrong with a handful of leafy greens like spinach, kale, moringa leaves, or amaranth first thing in the morning. These greens are rich in folate, iron, and vitamin K, which support healthy cell turnover, skin renewal, and better circulation. Chlorophyll, the green pigment in these vegetables, helps in detoxifying the skin and fighting photo-ageing caused by UV rays. Leafy greens are also high in antioxidants like lutein and beta-carotene, which protect your skin from wrinkles and environmental damage. How to eat them: Toss greens into a morning smoothie, sauté them with garlic for a warm side dish, or fold them into omelettes or dosas. Fermented foods: For gut and skin harmony Yoghurt, kefir, homemade chaas (buttermilk), and fermented foods like idli or dosa batter made from naturally fermented rice and lentils are amazing for your gut—and by extension, your skin. A healthy gut helps regulate inflammation, supports the absorption of skin-loving nutrients, and strengthens your immunity. Probiotics found in fermented foods improve digestion, reduce bloating, and promote clearer skin. Studies show that people with diverse gut microbiomes have fewer wrinkles, less acne, and more resilient skin as they age. How to eat them: Have a bowl of probiotic-rich curd or sip on chaas with your breakfast. South Indian breakfast staples like idli and dosa also make for a flavourful, gut-friendly start to the day. Ageing is inevitable, but how you age is in your hands and your breakfast bowl. The right nutrients first thing in the morning can enhance your skin, protect your organs, and help your mind stay sharp. These five foods -berries, nuts and seeds, fatty fish, leafy greens, and fermented favourites can form the core of your anti-ageing arsenal. Rather than chasing trends or miracle serums, trust your plate. With consistent effort, your breakfast can become your most powerful skincare ritual, supporting long-lasting beauty and wellbeing from within.

LeBron James, Rui Hachimura upgraded to questionable vs. Bulls
After a brutal two weeks of lots of games and being shorthanded, the Lakers could be back to full strength on Saturday against the Bulls. Both LeBron James and Rui Hachimura have been upgraded to questionable, the first time they've been listed as anything other than 'out' since sustaining their respective injuries. Obviously, there are a lot of positives to take away from that injury report. All of Luka Dončić, Dorian Finney-Smith, Austin Reaves and Jarred Vanderbilt all missed Thursday's game against the Bucks and all are set to return. LeBron has missed the last six games with his groin strain. This is roughly the timeframe that was anticipated for his return. Prior to Thursday's game against the Nuggets, he went through his most extensive pregame workout yet. Rui, meanwhile, has had positive updates from head coach JJ Redick throughout his rehab. Most recently, he was going through 3-on-3 workouts with his return nearing. When speaking to the media on Thursday, Redick said that LeBron and Rui remained day-to-day, a status that was repeated throughout the week. The one notable change to the injury report outside of LeBron and Rui is the addition of Gabe Vincent as questionable with left knee injury management. This is the same designation Vincent had when he missed the team's road game against the Nuggets recently. After Saturday's home game, the Lakers will go on a four-game road trip before returning home to play the Rocket to wrap up a daunting March schedule. Having the team at full strength as soon as possible will be paramount. Fortunately, it looks like that is coming soon. And maybe even on Saturday.
