Jonty Rhodes to lend fielding expertise to Lions next season
The Central Gauteng Lions have taken advantage of their sponsor Mahindra to land Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach for the next 12 months. Rhodes will start working with the Lions this off-season but his role will stretch much further than working with the Lions' senior men's team. 'He'll be involved with our development pipe, have workshops with clubs and schools and our women's team and the junior sides. We want him to have a holistic approach,' said Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright. Rhodes, 55, has been a brand ambassador for the Indian car manufacturer which has had a commercial partnership with the union. Rhodes, who played 52 Tests, joins an already star-studded coaching line-up headed by Russell Domingo and including Hashim Amla, Allan Donald and Garnett Kruger, while former Proteas wicketkeeper Trisha Chetty is also attached to the union's women's team. Rhodes will work with the union until the end of next season, but Leaf-Wright said it wouldn't necessarily include accompanying the men's team to every match. 'We want our players to be exposed to the best expertise, not only to help them grow as cricketers but also as people, and appointing someone such as Jonty is part of that process.'

HBL PSL 10 tickets to go on sale next week

PHOTO: AFP The tickets for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 will go on sale next week, starting from April 3, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Friday. The online sale of tickets will begin on Thursday, April 3, while physical tickets will be available from April 7 at designated centers of a private courier company. According to the PCB, ticket prices will vary depending on the host city, seating category, and the match. The four host cities for PSL 10 are Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The minimum ticket price will be PKR 650, and the highest ticket price will be PKR 12,500. Tickets will be offered in several categories, including General Enclosure, First Class, Premium, VIP, VVIP, and Gallery. This allows fans to choose a ticket option based on their preferences and budget. For the opening match between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, ticket prices will range from PKR 1,000 to PKR 8,500. In an effort to engage fans and enhance their experience, the PCB also revealed that a ticket raffle will take place during every match, offering exciting prizes for lucky winners. The six-team tournament is scheduled to begin on April 11 and will feature 34 matches, culminating in the grand final on May 18. Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including the two Eliminators and the final. Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, including the first Qualifier on May 13, while Karachi's National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five matches. The tournament will also include three double-headers, two of which will be held on Saturdays, and one on Labour Day (May 1). The announcement comes after Karachi Kings also revealed on Friday the appointment of former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as head coach for the 10th edition of the league. Domingo, a seasoned coach with vast international experience, previously led South Africa's national team and Bangladesh's men's team.
