Cast of Avengers: Doomsday movie gather for filming in Bahrain
The cast of Marvel 's big-ticket Avengers: Doomsday have been photographed in Bahrain, where filming for the movie is thought to be taking place. Photos of some of the cast shared on social media have offered fans clues about what to expect in the fifth film of the blockbuster Avengers series. Directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released on December 18 next year. On Friday, Address Beach Resort hosted a dinner with some of the cast members. The event included Joe Russo, Anthony Mackie (who plays Captain America), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Winston Duke (M'Baku), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Tenoch Huerta (Namor), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), Danny Ramirez (Falcon) and Alex Livinalli (Attuma). While not spotted at the event, the film's ensemble cast is also set to include Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) and Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova) among others. Robert Downey Jr, who famously played Iron Man, will return to the MCU as supervillain Doctor Doom. A full cast is yet to be revealed. "This past weekend, Address Beach Resort Bahrain had the marvelous honour of hosting some of Hollywood's most iconic stars," the resort posted on Instagram on Tuesday. Earlier in the week, fans also shared photos of the cast dining at Sumosan, the Japanese restaurant located within the hotel. While much of the plot remains tightly under wraps, Avengers: Doomsday marks the return of the Russo brothers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The duo have directed four Marvel films, including the record-breaking Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). They will also direct follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for a December 2027 release. 'When we directed Avengers: Endgame, we really believed it was the end for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe,' Joe Russo told fans at San Diego Comic-Con last year, when the film's title was announced. 'That four-movie run was incredible, and it left us creatively spent.' But "a very special story" convinced them to come back, he said. "It's the biggest story that Marvel comics ever told. It's the reason that Anthony and I are standing up here.'

The Russo Brothers are returning to direct the final two films in the Multiverse Saga, and just like they did with Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame , the final two movies in the Infinity Saga, they are making these flicks super high-stakes and major events in the MCU. As we head into the year long wait to see Avengers: Doomsday , bits of info, both verified and rumored, will really start to ramp up. In the upcoming film, we know that Earth's Mightiest Heroes will assemble to battle RDJ's Doctor Doom, and aside from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and New Avengers, we know Captain America will lead his own team of Avengers. A new rumor from The Cosmic Circus (via CBM) claims that the team led by Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will be comprised of Joaquin Torres/The Falcon, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Wong, and Shang-Chi. They're officially on his team, with She-Hulk likely to join them. The site notes that Latveria, the fictional country from the Marvel Comics universe ruled by the supervillain Doctor Doom will also be featured in Avengers: Doomsday . The small, isolated European nation is located in the Banat region, and is often portrayed as having a distinct culture and history. The country is known for its advanced technology and the strong grip Doctor Doom maintains on its people. Regarding Doom's team, it's said, "we've already met them." That either means they're Multiversal Variants of familiar characters or villains from previous MCU movies. So far, Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Robert Downey Jr., Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman, as well as The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, with X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Channing Tatum set to join them. Marvel CANCELS Avengers: Doomsday And Avengers: Secret Wars Initial Release Dates, Find Out Postponed Timeline
Marvel Studios has pushed Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars to late 2026 and 2027 as a part of their strategic realignment. Originally slated for May 1, 2026, release, MCU has conceded that highly-coveted date to The Devil Wears Prada 2. Avengers: Doomsday will now hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Its successor, Secret Wars, will follow on December 17, 2027, shifting from its earlier May 2027 release. The change of schedule indicates a bigger readjustment of Disney's release slate, which was announced Thursday along with the cancellation of several untitled Marvel projects on the studio's docket. Directed by MCU veterans, the Russo Brothers, in addition to the highly anticipated return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the movie is one of Marvel's most ambitious projects to date. Both Secret Wars and Doomsday are turning out to be some of Marvel's biggest undertakings. According to Variety, Disney CEO Bob Iger recently mentioned that Marvel had "lost a little focus by making too much" content both for feature films and Disney+ series. He added, "By consolidating a bit and having Marvel focus much more on their films, we believe that will result in better quality." Marvel has erased previously scheduled slots on February 13, November 6 (2026), and November 5 (2027) and retitled them as "Untitled Disney" movies. Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man: Brand New Day are now the only officially announced MCU releases for 2026, after Fantastic Four: First Steps, which arrives on July 25. This marks the longest interval between Marvel movies since the pandemic. With Marvel taking a step back from its usual May launch, Disney has taken over the May 1st release date with the Meryl Streep-starrer. Avengers: Doomsday will now arrive on December 18, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will hit the theatres on December 17, 2027.

Marvel Studios has pushed back the release dates of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Doomsday is being delayed from May 1st, 2026, to December 18th, 2026. Secret Wars's release has been pushed from May 7th, 2027 to December 17th, 2027. The Russo brothers are returning to direct the two films. Robert Downey Jr. will also be back, though this time as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man, and Marvel reportedly spent big to get him. Marvel has also already revealed that Doomsday will have a gigantic cast that includes actors from other Avengers movies, more recent Marvel films, a bunch of X-Men, and even stars from this year's Fantastic Four: First Steps. Chris Evans is reportedly returning for Doomsday, too, but it's unclear in what role.

Over the weekend, a Marvel fan managed break onto the Avengers: Doomsday set at Pinewood Studios in the UK. According to their own account, they found a hole in the surrounding fence, slipped through, and wandered around the production site of one of the most highly-guarded blockbusters in the making. While they didn't exactly walk into a climactic battle scene or stumble across Robert Downey Jr. walking around as Doctor Doom, they did get a glimpse at some interesting location details, and also helped themselves to some craft services while they were at it. Priorities. It has since been revealed that he's been hit with a formal warning from Marvel Studios, so we don't expect to see him breaking into any more movie sets anytime soon. The biggest reveal is that there are scenes being shot on Madripoor. A set clearly pointed to the fictional island nation making a return in the MCU. For comic fans, Madripoor is most famously tied to Wolverine's Patch persona, and for MCU viewers, it was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier along with the reveal of Sharon Carter's mysterious new identity as the Power Broker. Could Doomsday finally dig into that storyline? With the Russo Brothers reportedly back at the helm, it's very much on the table. Another detail spotted was signage for something called 'The Webslingers Inn.' Whether that's part of the actual film or just an inside joke among the crew remains unclear. And while this mystery set explorer didn't leak any plot details or earth-shattering reveals, their rogue adventure certainly lit a fire under fan theories, and definitely under Marvel's security team.. Given the scope of this breach, it wouldn't be surprising if this individual is soon dealing with more than just social media clout. Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie, who now wears the MCU's Captain America mantle, recently teased some massive stakes in Avengers: Doomsday : 'You know what? I was really excited, man. It's one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting.' And if that wasn't ominous enough, he added: 'You see these characters, and you see how they're introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable.' Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on May 7, 2027.
