Ohio State Football Makes Big Ryan Day Announcement

Ohio State Football Makes Big Ryan Day Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a remarkable run in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, entering as the No. 8 seed and winning four straight games by double digits. Their path to the national championship included impressive victories over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and ultimately Notre Dame in the title game. Advertisement The victory marked Ohio State's first national championship since 2014 and the first under head coach Ryan Day—an especially meaningful moment given that it came just weeks after another disappointing loss to Michigan, which had many fans in Columbus calling for a change at the helm. Day, however, rallied the Buckeyes to a historic postseason, and now Ohio State is looking to carry that momentum into the 2025 season in hopes of a back-to-back title run. Ahead of the upcoming season, Ohio State made a major announcement on Friday and followed it up with a behind-the-scenes reveal on Saturday: Head coach Ryan Day will be featured in 'EA Sports College Football 26.' Advertisement 'Something special to be a part of,' Ohio State posted on social media, sharing an image of Day alongside star safety Caleb Downs. Day's star wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, is set to be featured on the cover of EA Sports College Football 26, alongside Alabama sophomore wideout Ryan Williams. The cover was officially unveiled last week, building anticipation for the game's release, which is scheduled for July 10. Advertisement After that, the franchise was discontinued due to legal issues surrounding player likeness rights. However, with the emergence of NIL rules and the rapidly evolving landscape of college athletics, the series made a highly successful comeback. College Football 25 became one of the most popular releases of 2024, even surpassing NBA 2K21 to become the highest-selling sports video game in the United States. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes skyrocket in updated recruiting rankings

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the reigning national champions and have a top-10 recruiting class nationally. They also boast arguably the top two players in all of college football with wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and safety Caleb Downs. Advertisement But Ryan Day's program received even more good news Monday, as On3/Rivals updated their class of 2026 player ratings. Two future Buckeyes made the "biggest risers" list - and both are now among the nation's top prospects. Previously the nation's No. 96 overall prospect, Archbishop Hoban (Ohio) offensive tackle Sam Greer jumped to No. 14 - a staggering jump that will make him a five-star recruit on Signing Day. But that wasn't all. Juniperro Serra (California) edge-rusher Khary Wilder was "not rated" in the previous ratings, but jumped all the way up to No. 38 overall. Advertisement Several programs saw a commit or two jump up the list, including Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon, Florida State and others, but no program has more to celebrate than Ohio State. The Buckeyes are, once again, reloading with the 2026 class.

Ohio State Gets Good News on Coveted Star Running Back

Ohio State Gets Good News on Coveted Star Running Back originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Different college football programs appear to be getting very positive signs from one of the top 2026 running backs on the recruiting trail. One of those is the Ohio State Buckeyes. Advertisement On3's Steve Wiltfong reported Sunday that Derrek Cooper's family had a terrific weekend visit with the Buckeyes. 'Everything was amazing in Ohio,' Cooper's mother Tonya Brinson told Wiltfong. The recruiting insider described Cooper as "one of the headliners" at the Ohio State campus over the weekend. Cooper has visited the Buckeyes multiple times during his recruitment process. The Buckeyes have three-star running back Favour Akih committed in the 2026 class, but the program is still trying to land another pledge from a top tier back. Advertisement Ohio State Buckeyes football head coach Ryan Day© Samantha Madar/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Wiltfong suggested the Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide are also pushing for Cooper. On3's Chad Simmons wrote on June 13 that the Bulldogs were confident where they stand in the recruitment of the top running back. Simmons, though, also wrote Cooper's mother would play "a significant part" in his college decision. So, it's not at all a bad thing that she had a great time at Ohio State. The 247Sports Composite rankings have Cooper rated as the No. 2 Florida recruit in the 2026 class. The recruiting rankings from ESPN and Rivals have him as the No. 1 running back in the class. Advertisement The running back is also a consensus top 100 recruit for 2026. On the 247Sports Composite rankings, Cooper is rated as the No. 30 overall prospect. 'Stunning' Ohio State Cheerleader Grabs Attention With Offseason Photo

'Stunning' Ohio State Cheerleader Grabs Attention With Offseason Photo originally appeared on The Spun. A "stunning" Ohio State Buckeyes cheerleader grabbed attention with her offseason photo this week. The Ohio State Buckeyes football team is gearing up for the 2025 season. Ohio State had a magical ride in 2024, of course. The Buckeyes went 10-2 in the regular season, losing to Oregon and Michigan, the latter of which sparked "fire Ryan Day!" calls. But Ohio State rebounded in a major way in the College Football Playoff. Ohio State, the No. 8 seed, topped Tennessee at home, Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Texas in the Cotton Bowl and then Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff national championship game. The Buckeyes lost a lot of elite talent to the NFL this offseason, including quarterback Will Howard, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and a host of defensive standouts. But Ohio State is still expected to contend for both a Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff spot in 2025. Meanwhile, a stunning Ohio State Buckeyes cheerleader is trending ahead of Week 1. A second-year Ohio State Buckeyes cheerleader is trending for her offseason photo shared to Instagram. Gabby, a second-year cheerleader for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is ready for the 2025 season. "Repping scarlet white and blue this year ❤️🌰," she wrote earlier in July. Ohio State opens the 2025 regular season in big-time fashion. The Buckeyes and the Texas Longhorns are scheduled to open the year on Saturday, Aug. 30. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for noon E.T. It'll air live on FOX. BTN programming schedule for 2025 Big Ten Football media days next week

The college football season, and the opportunity to watch YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes on the gridiron, is just a little over a month away. And, if we are that close to breaking the seal on the 2025 college football season, it must be time for the annual spectacle that is Big Ten football media days. This year, the conference is taking advantage of its extended footprint out west by holding media days in Las Vegas, Nevada, so if there were ever a reason to cover all of the player and coach interviews, this would be it. Unfortunately for me, I'll be on a Disney Cruise instead, so the coverage will have to be from the view of the ocean with a drink in hand instead (woe is me). But never fear, we'll bring the coverage you deserve to you, and it all starts with understanding what the programming schedule will be. As always, the Big Ten Network will be on-site covering it all, and since there are 18 teams in the league, the event is now spread out over three days. Here's a look at the schedule of events the Big Ten Network will be covering Day 1: Tuesday, July 22: Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Nebraska, Ohio State, Rutgers *Note: Ohio State head coach Ryan Day is set to take to the podium at 12:45 p.m. ET Day 2: Wednesday, July 23: Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon, Penn State, Washington, Wisconsin Day 3: Thursday, July 24: Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA, USC There are always some interesting quotes, sound bites, and moments during Big Ten football media days, so make sure you come along for the ride with us.
