Rylan Clark admits he felt like a 'complete failure' after his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal
has emotionally admitted he felt like a 'failure' following his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal. The TV presenter, 36, split with Dan in 2021 after six years of marriage when Rylan admitted he cheated on him. On what would have been their ten-year wedding anniversary this year, Rylan got candid about how he felt following the divorce. Speaking on his new podcast Rylan: How to Be in Love with Stephen Fry, he said: 'We got married in 2015. 'That same year, yeah. So it would have been my 10 year anniversary this year.' Stephen then asked if Rylan felt any kind of responsibility to represent gay marriage, as one of the few LGBTQ + celebrities. He asked: 'But did you feel also that - when it broke up and you were divorced – did you feel that there was in some sense you were letting down the idea of gay marriage, because we have a duty to show that our marriages are as robust and strong as any heterosexual?' Rylan said: 'There was part of me that just felt like a complete and utter failure. I felt like I'd failed personally, but I felt like I'd found publicly on behalf of - the gays! You know, I'm not, I'm not 'head gay', it's not that.' Stephen reassured: 'No, you're not, exactly. You're not a poster child for gayness.' Rylan continued: 'But you do feel like, yeah I'm going to get married, I want to get married, I can get married. 'But when it doesn't work out you don't want people to go, "you see that's why they f****** shouldn't get married".' Stephen was quick to insist: 'You can get married again if you want…', causing Rylan to hint at his divorce struggles as he quipped: 'Yeah with a prenup this time, I'm not going through that again.' Rylan previously revealed his own infidelity during his marriage with Dan caused the downfall of their relationship. After he revealed that he had been unfaithful, Dan eventually ended the relationship after the heart-wrenching confession. Following the heartbreak and the deterioration of his marriage, Rylan had suicidal thoughts and his weight dropped to just nine stone. He opened up about these challenging times in his second autobiography, TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future. In the book, he penned a candid reflection and said: 'I got in a relationship quite young and just went with it. Now I know I'm my own person. I'm not going to settle for something that's not right. In a way it's been a bit of a gift.' 'I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely.'

While on air during his BBC Radio 2 show, Rylan, 36, shared with a co-presenter, who noticed his "giggly" demeanour, that he was indeed in high spirits. He expressed: "I am giggly. I don't care. I'm giggly very giggly. I'm relaxed I'm happy. I'm really happy actually." His co-host observed that Rylan had undergone a "changed lifestyle" swapping late nights out for early nights in bed by 9pm. Rylan acknowledged the change, attributing it to both his flourishing career and an improvement in his personal life, hinting at newfound happiness, reports Derbyshire Live. He remarked: "I know, whose bed though is the question? Yes I am. I feel like, for the first time in a long time, I'm in a very decent place on all aspects." Rylan continued to share his contentment, citing recent professional achievements and a satisfying personal life. He added "I've just won a BAFTA. I'm getting to go around the world, I've got a great job, I'm going to the TRIC Awards, I've got a nice personal life going on. It's nice, I'm very content. I feel good." Speculation has been rife about Rylan's personal life in recent months, especially regarding his friendship with Rob Rinder, with whom he recently clinched a BAFTA in the Factual Entertainment category for their series Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour. "And I went: 'No mum, I've won', she went, 'what?' and I said: 'We're ahead two hours,' and she just bawled her eyes out. And then it went on telly and everyone kept ringing her, so she cried all night." Additionally, Rylan expressed heartfelt praise for Rob Rinder, his co-host, calling him his "partner in crime" and professing his deep affection, be he swiftly clarified: "Not like that – we are just friends."

BBC Radio 2 in the Park 2025 to land in Chelmsford
Radio 2 in the Park, the station's flagship live music festival, will take place in Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex from Friday 5 - Sunday 7 September. The announcement was made on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, with Scott speaking to Radio 2 presenter, Ellie Taylor, who is from Essex. She was live on air at Hylands House within Hylands Park to reveal the location to listeners. Rylan – who Scott unofficially crowned "The Earl of Essex" during the show - also joined Ellie in the park to celebrate the festival taking place in his home county. Rylan said: "I can't wait to welcome my Radio 2 family to Chelmsford and have this year's Radio 2 in the Park right on my doorstep! If there's one thing I know for certain, it's that an Essex crowd know how to party. See you all in Hylands Park!' The station - which is the UK's most listened to radio station with a weekly audience of 13.1 million (RAJAR Q1, 2025) - will broadcast live from Hylands Park throughout the weekend in September, and all the action will be broadcast on Radio 2, BBC Sounds and iPlayer. Most of Radio 2's presenters will decamp to the city for the weekend and, back by popular demand and following its debut at Radio 2 in the Park in Preston last year, there will be a Friday night DJ party to kick things off ahead of a weekend packed with stellar live performances. The artist line-up will be revealed in The Scott Mills Breakfast Show tomorrow (Tuesday 3 June, 6.30-9.30am) and tickets will go on sale on Wednesday 4 June at 8.30am - further details are available at Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2 says: "Radio 2 in the Park is our biggest party of the year, and we're delighted to be bringing a three-day music extravaganza to Chelmsford! As well as presenting acts on stage at The O2 in London, Bob fronted shows during the weekend and was joined by musicians for live performances and key moments from the main stage from some of the world's most popular Country stars and the cream of emerging talent from Nashville and Europe. Having joined much of the nation who tuned into the series conclusion, the presenter and longtime fan took to Instagram to share a video mere seconds after Ncuti Gatwa 's regeneration hit screens. Viewers were stunned when it was revealed that Ncuti had regenerated into former Doctor Who star Billie Piper, with the star making a surprise In the clip, which Rylan joked he'll look back on with 'absolute embarrassment,' the Radio 2 star said: 'So this is going to be a really embarrassing story that I will look back on and be like ''you absolute embarrassment'', but I've just watched the finale of Doctor Who. 'I don't know what's just happened. Oh my god it's unbelievable, what a turnout, I can't believe it.' Billie will now be the second woman to take on the role as the Time Lord after Jodie Whittaker portrayed the 13th doctor. The actor's time on the long-running science fiction programme came to an end as The Reality War episode brought this season to a close on Saturday. As he bid farewell to companion Belinda Chandra, played by Varada Sethu, he said: 'I hope you'll see me again, but not like this.' The finale also saw Whittaker, the 13th doctor, make a guest appearance as Gatwa's Doctor appeared to be travelling through alternate universes. In a statement released by the BBC, Ncuti Gatwa said: 'You know when you get cast, at some point you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. 'This journey has been one that I will never forget, and a role that will be part of me forever. There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe. 'The fans are truly the final character and beating heart of this show and I can't thank the Whoniverse, and the Whovians, enough for welcoming me in, and making this such a touching experience. 'I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. 'I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor.' Reacting to the news Billie said: 'It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return to the Whoniverse as I have some of my best memories there, so to be given the opportunity to step back on that Tardis one more time was just something I couldn't refuse.' 'And there are online warriors accusing us of diversity and wokeness and involving messages and issues. 'And I have no time for this. I don't have a second to bear (it). Because what you might call diversity, I just call an open door.' Gatwa told Attitude magazine in 2024 that the hateful comments the sci-fi show has received after casting a black man is 'fascinating, because there's so much energy they're putting into it ... I think they need to go find a hobby is one thing'. During his time, he has had companions in the form of Andor actress Varada Sethu, and former Coronation Street actress Millie Gibson, who played Gatwa's companion Ruby Sunday since the 2023 Christmas episode The Church On Ruby Road.
