Collector Rajakumari Ganiya asked the medical officers to provide the best possible services to those visiting primary health centres (PHCs). The Collector was on a tour of Gospadu mandal headquarters, during which she visited the PHC, Rythu Seva Kendram, and a private fertiliser shop. During her visit to the PHC, Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya enquired about the staff strength, the number of pregnancy deliveries, availability of medicines, and how expired tablets were being disposed. She said that people visit government hospitals with a belief that quality medical care would be available and asked the staff to meet their expectations. Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya asked the staff to create awareness among the people about the benefits of delivering at a government hospital and to increase the number of deliveries. She said that steps would be taken to fill staff vacancies, if any, and asked the staff to maintain clean and hygienic conditions on the PHC premises. The Collector also interacted with the patients and enquired whether they were getting proper treatment, among other things. Later, she visited the Rythu Seva Kendram and enquired about e-KYC, enrolment of crops with the kendram, extent of crop sown, availability of urea, and others with the staff there. She asked the staff to educate farmers about the ill-effects of excess usage of urea in cultivating crops. Ms. Rajakumari Ganiya inspected the Sri Venkata Sai fertilisers shop and went through the records to verify the fertilisers and DAP stocks. She asked the shop management to sell fertilisers at the price fixed by the government and warned of registering criminal cases, if the farmers were forced to buy fertilisers at a higher price.

Collector urges responsible usage of fertilisers to save soil
Parvatipuram-Manyam District Collector A. Shyam Prasad on Tuesday asked farmers not to use fertilisers indiscriminately since it would spoil the soil, making it unfit for cultivation in the future. He distributed fertilisers to farmers at the Rythu Seva Kendram (RSK) of Kasappeta in Seethanagaram mandal on Tuesday and urged them to seek suggestions from agriculture officials and scientists to know the quantity of fertilisers required for application in the fields. He said that for the current kharif season, 10,384 tonnes of urea was available out of the targeted 11,327 tonnes. Farmers were advised to contact the district control room (Mobile No.:7989434766) to know the availability of fertilisers and seeds at their respective RSKs. The Collector informed that 5,985 tenant farmers in the district have received Crop Cultivators Rights Cards, and this would be extended to 11,000 tenant farmers. These cards would ensure farmers get benefits including crop loan, insurance and others. The District Agriculture Officer K. Robert Paul was also present.

Ryots gearing up for Kharif season in Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: With the early arrival of the monsoon expected to hit the State a week in advance, farmers are gearing up for the Kharif season with renewed enthusiasm. Expecting heavy and adequate rains this season, farmers across Andhra Pradesh are preparing their fields for cultivation. Many farmers have begun ploughing their lands using tractors, while some have already started broadcasting seeds. In this method, farmers scatter seeds by hand or machines directly on the soil surface. If all conditions remain favourable, this Kharif season is expected to see cultivation across 6 lakh acres in Krishna and NTR districts. During the last Kharif season (2024), crops were cultivated over 2.42 lakh hectares (5.99 lakh acres) in both districts—3.76 lakh acres in Krishna district and 2.23 lakh acres in NTR district—according to the Season and Crop Coverage Report of the State government. This year, a similar extent of cultivation is expected. Generally, the target area across both districts is 2.90 lakh hectares (7.16 lakh acres) during every Kharif season, and 86% to 95% of this land—approximately 5.5 to 6 lakh acres—is cultivated annually with various crops. Paddy remains the main crop in both districts, cultivated on about 4.79 lakh acres—3.70 lakh acres in Krishna district and 1.10 lakh acres in NTR district. Other crops cultivated include jowar, maize, groundnut, sunflower, cotton, sugarcane, tobacco, red gram, black gram, green gram, as well as food grains, oil seeds, and other commercial crops. Agricultural authorities are preparing to supply seeds to farmers. On government direction, Agricultural Joint Directors in all districts have already sent proposals for seed and fertiliser indent. The seeds will be distributed through the Rythu Seva Kendram (RSK/RBK) upon receipt. Speaking to TNIE, Krishna District Agriculture Joint Director Manohar said they had already sent the indent details to the State office and would receive the seeds shortly for distribution to farmers.
