Inside the Samsung Galaxy S25: How advanced AI powers everyday convenience
AI — it's on everyone's lips. While it's disrupting almost every industry you can think of, smartphone manufacturers are falling over themselves to place the power of these deep learning networks in your hands. Take the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, for example, which delivers a premium Android experience with its versatile storage, enhanced battery life and lightning-fast charging, and an unmatched audio experience. The S25 smartphone range offers Galaxy AI1 tools designed to help you handle the challenges of a busy lifestyle. Moreover, these AI features are seamlessly integrated, so taking advantage of them is an absolute doddle. With that in mind, we've compiled this handy how-to guide to help you get the most out of your Galaxy AI-enhanced Samsung smartphone. Galaxy AI Generative Edit2 can help you eliminate the stress of taking the perfect photo in the moment. Reimagine photos by moving elements around, taking out photobombers (like your ex), and drawing in something completely new using this generative AI feature. You can also transform photos into striking cartoons and paintings and apply more fun effects with Galaxy AI Portrait Studio3. Battery and performance optimization help your device keep going when it matters most. A day's worth of video meetings, music during commuting, web browsing, social media, and gaming can quickly drain a phone's battery. Thankfully, the Galaxy S25 Ultra utilizes adaptive AI to optimize your battery life based on your usage patterns, meaning you can keep streaming YouTube whenever a replacement shuttle bus threatens to add hours to your commute. The handy Galaxy AI Writing Assist4 feature helps you communicate best with whoever you're speaking to. Want to sound more professional or relaxed? Want to weed out those typos? Writing Assist helps you compose, improve, and personalize messages, whether for a boss, friend, or social media. It also suggests context-sensitive replies, letting you get back to the action ASAP. Note Assist5 can enhance and simplify your notetaking, ensuring you don't miss out on the important stuff. It can make lists easier to read, translate notes, and summarize wordy sections. It can even clean up your scruffy handwriting. Notes Assist is one of the best ways to help you stay organized — for work and general life. Want the tl;dr in a flash? Browsing Assist6 can translate and summarize web content for you if you need to brush up on something quickly. It can save you time when catching up on the things that matter most, like news. With AI here to stay, look out for Samsung's upcoming foldable devices powered by Galaxy AI, which will empower you to stay on top of your everyday tasks. One last thing. If you have somehow missed the buzz throughout the internet tech sphere, Samsung has recently launched their latest foldable wonder – the Galaxy Z Fold7. With major hardware upgrades, such as a 200MP camera sensor, an impossibly svelte 4.2mm thin unfolded chassis, and stunning (2184 x 1968) 8' main display, there's a lot to get excited about. Two days on one charge: Why the Samsung Galaxy S25 is a writer's best friend
Home » Two days on one charge: Why the Samsung Galaxy S25 is a writer's best friend Samsung Galaxy S25 in mint. Image: Samsung South Africa I recently spent time with Samsung Galaxy's newest addition to the S series – the S25 – I have a simple verdict: it's a beast of a device and you should buy it you are a journalist, writer or publisher who is pressed for time. While it does not look too different from its predecessor, the Galaxy S24, it packs ease, smart features, speed and reliability that made my life and work easier. Let's start with the battery life, by far the most impressive offering of the Samsung Galaxy S25. I fully charged the phone at 17:00 on 11 June and by 16:30 on 13 June, it still had 13% left. That's nearly two full days of regular use – scrolling social media, instant messaging, taking pictures, checking emails and using WordPress – all without needing a charger. It's perfect for people always on the move (and a klutz like me who loses power banks and always forgets to pack a charger). The speed and responsiveness is just as impressive. Apps open quickly. Switching between apps or opening web links from another app is quick and seamless. I gave it a Herculean test by using the WordPress app – usually heavy and temperamental on Android devices – but it passed with flying colours, which means I didn't have to swear at it. One of the coolest features is the Circle to Search. Although not new to the Galaxy S series, it is a wonder to use on the S25. You just draw a circle around an element on your screen – be it an object, image or text, and the phone instantly (and I mean instantly) searches for it. It's quick, smart and surprisingly accurate. To give you an example, I took a picture of a CNN guest's face on my TV, long pressed the home button to bring up Circle to Search, encircled the woman's face and boom – I had her name (Pam Bondi), designation and credentials in my hand. All of this in less than 10 seconds. Speech-to-text and transcriptions The speech-to-text feature has improved significantly in terms of accuracy. I first used it with the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and the results were poor. However, with the S25, it is a vastly improved experience. I recorded quotes by Floyd Shivambu, former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general, during his exit press conference in June, and it picked up his 'revolutionary English' with incredible accuracy. This is very useful if you're not adept at speedily taking notes. When it comes to photos and videos, the S25 does the job. Granted, I wasn't outside taking pictures of beautiful sunsets, but where it came in really handy was when I wanted to shoot pictures or footage from a TV screen, which usually ends in blurry mess. With the S25, my images were crisp and clear, with colours popping and motion handled well. See below The Samsung Galaxy S25 is a reliable, powerful smartphone that handles everything, from AI features to heavy apps, like a champ. It's fast, smart and keeps going without needing a charge every few hours. For South Africans looking for a solid premium phone that won't let you down, the S25 is well worth it. Get $315 off the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge for Prime Day
Big screens are ubiquitous now in the smartphone space, so manufacturers are now returning to another familiar friend to make their handsets stand out: thinness. In May, Samsung launched the the Galaxy S25 Edge and it's on sale for Prime Day now — down to $785, which is $315 less than usual. The Galaxy S25 Edge includes the best of Samsung's Galaxy S25+ in a thinner and sturdier package. The S25 Edge is just 0.23 inches (5..8mm) thick, with a titanium frame, IP68 water and dust resistance and a Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 panel covering its OLED screen. The phone is also fast and performant, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 12GB of RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Really, the main ways the S25 Edge is a compromise are in the omissions Samsung made to keep it slim and light. For example, the S25 Edge doesn't have a telephoto lens, so zoomed in photographs have to happen entirely digitally. The phone also has a noticeably smaller battery at 3,900 mAh, which in our tests meant the phone lasted for a little over 25 hours on a single charge, shorter than both the base S25 and the S25 Ultra. Samsung also cut corners with wireless charging. The S25 Edge is "Qi2 ready" but doesn't actually include the magnetic coils necessary to take advantage of the charging standard's main features. Instead, if you want to wirelessly charge the S25 Edge at Qi2 speeds, you need to put it in a case, taking away some of its thinness in the process. For $300 off, those compromises could be very easy to set aside, though. In Engadget's review of the Galaxy S25 Edge, the phone made the most sense as a way to make Samsung's mid-tier phones interesting. It costs the same $1,100 as the Samsung Galaxy S25+ and features many of the same components, but looks and feels different to use. At $785, the Galaxy S25 Edge is now the same price as the base S25 was at launch, and an even more compelling purchase.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025: Live updates on Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and Watch 8
The Unpacked keynote has started, and after a quick flash of the usual legal disclaimers, Samsung is now showing us a video. I feel like Fold and Flip owners have such different expectations. I mean a tri-fold sounds pretty rad but personally all I want is the option to pay a little more money for a Flip that has flagship cameras. I agree with Sam. They also teased that next "Ultra" chapter. Will we see a Z Fold Ultra? It should be a trifold, in my opinion! FWIW, this Unpacked event is at the Brooklyn Naval Yard, which is its own weird little corner of town that's kind of hidden away and hard to get into. That said, there is a Wegman's right down the street, so maybe Samsung was expecting people to stop there first? (I kid.) The rumor I'm most interested in is the possible appearance of Samsung's tri-fold phone. Info about it has swirling around for a while, but it's been somewhat unclear if Samsung actually has plans to release it in the US. If we do see , I'm betting that it will be as a quick tease or a "one more thing" at the end of the presentation, similar to how they gave us a preview of the S25 Edge at the previous Unpacked event at the beginning of the year. Do you all think maybe Samsung couldn't find any good catering because everyone is so busy shopping Amazon's Prime Day deals. Did you like how I casually referenced this massive shopping event in the middle of our liveblog? I just wanted to set the scene for those wondering what's going on outside of the Samsung world today and this week. (The Engadget homepage is a good indicator of what else is happening in the consumer tech world.) Well hi there Sam! I too have a seat, but it's at my desk, at 6:45AM, in sunny Arizona. Looking forward to throwing the Galaxy Z Flip 6 I've used daily for the past year or so into that sun shortly. Some rumors suggest that Samsung might be preparing to reveal a Galaxy S25 Fan Edition (FE), which would add yet another model to its S25 family. I'm not convinced we'll see that today, but if we did, that would be the fifth S25 phone to date. (Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge Hey y'all, I'm at Unpacked and I finally grabbed a seat and figured out the Wi-FI situation (hint: it's not good). But I'm still hyped because as a foldable phone enthusiast, it feels like were primed for some big updates to Samsung's lineup. I guess I could talk about tech and Samsung for a bit. Like we mentioned earlier, this is the third Unpacked this year, with the most recent one being a quick, short pre-recorded video detailing the super thin Galaxy S25 Edge that was first teased at Unpacked in January. In his review, Sam found it delivered more than just a slim frame — it was a compelling alternative to the S25 Plus. Sam told me there are no snacks at the Brooklyn event, just drinks. I am left with no choice but to go ask Mat about snacks. I know this is the dedicated journalism you are all here for. I've also heard Sam is in line at the main Unpacked venue in New York and waiting to get in. Don't worry, I will request pictures of snacks. As it usually does, Samsung is also hosting satellite Unpacked events around the world, including one in London, where our UK bureau chief Mat Smith may has joined us from. Hi Mat! While we think we know all that Samsung has up its sleeve today, I can't help wondering if it might surprise us with something unexpected. There was a lot of talk a few weeks ago about a possible Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, possibly because of the company's use of the words "the next chapter of Ultra" in its teaser blog post in June. Sam Rutherford might also drop in today to share pictures from the event in Brooklyn, and he's a dedicated foldable fan and to my knowledge currently uses the Pixel 9 Pro Fold as his primary device!
