PU launches online affiliation system

Chandigarh: Panjab University has launched an online affiliation management system aimed at streamlining the college affiliation process and improving transparency. The new system will be implemented through the SAMARTH portal, a platform developed by the ministry of education and customised for the university's requirements. The portal was launched by PU vice-chancellor Prof Renu Vig in the presence of senior university officials, including dean university instructions Yojna Rawat and dean, college development council Sanjay Kaushik. The new system will move all affiliation-related processes online. Colleges will now submit institutional data through the portal, which will be reviewed by the DCDC office. Inspections for ongoing courses will be conducted exclusively online. Physical inspections will be limited to new courses and are expected to shift online by next year. When required, physical inspections will be carried out by a two-member team comprising the Vice Chancellor's Nominee and the DCDC Nominee. University officials said the new system will improve clarity, reduce delays, and strengthen record-keeping. Sanjay Kaushik said a committee was set up by the vice-chancellor to oversee implementation. The committee included Rajat Sandhir as chairperson, with members Sonal Chawla, Savita Uppal and Surjeet Singh Thakur as convener.

1 2 Guwahati: The Regional SAMARTH Support and Coordination Centre (RSSCC), Assam, was inaugurated at Gauhati University (GU) on Thursday by state education minister Ranoj Pegu, in the presence of GU vice chancellor Prof Nani Gopal Mahanta. The newly established centre is intended to boost the digital transformation of higher education institutions across Assam and will serve as a coordination and technical support hub for universities and colleges, enabling centralised Pegu expressed gratitude to Gauhati University for hosting the centre and highlighted the importance of a platform like SAMARTH for Assam, given the absence of centralised and reliable data in the higher education sector earlier. He said the SAMARTH platform is already assisting GU in managing various functions and that it would extend support to other institutions through modules covering admissions, examinations, finance, research, file movement and project by the Union ministry of education, SAMARTH is an open-source, cloud-based e-governance platform designed to support digital operations in universities and Baruah, director of higher education, told TOI that the SAMARTH portal has already commenced student registration for admission to the 2025-26 academic year. "Admissions from the first merit list for non-CUET students will be held on June 4 and 5, and from the second merit list on June 9 and 10, with spot admissions scheduled from June 11 to 14. For students taking the CUET, registration via the Samarth portal will open on July 5," she said."Elaborate arrangements have been made by the department of higher education for offering technical support to HEIs and students and for grievance redressal on a real-time basis. Till now, 121,384 students have registered in the SAMARTH portal," Baruah RSSCC at GU is set to function as a support and coordination hub, aiding colleges and universities across Assam in adopting and utilising the SAMARTH platform. The centre will maintain close coordination with the SAMARTH team in New Delhi and the Higher Education Department for policy implementation and technical the launch of the SAMARTH Admission Portal on June 14, 2023, the platform has streamlined the undergraduate admission process in Assam. The portal began accepting applications for BA, BCom, and BSc courses on April 11, 2025. The RSSCC is poised to provide additional technical support throughout the admission process.
