Mr. Balram on Tuesday held one-on-one meetings with the General Managers of the 12 Areas of the company at the SCCL's head office in Kothagudem of Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Plans afoot to expand SCCL on global scale, landmark tribal welfare schemes a hallmark of people's govt.: Bhatti

Plans are afoot to expand the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on a global scale in a phenomenal manner, said Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, also Energy and Finance Minister. Speaking after inaugurating the SCCL General Manager's office and a workshop in the coal town of Kothagudem, on Saturday, he said, 'We have appointed experts to gather the necessary information and make recommendations for this expansion. Once we receive the report, we will initiate the action plan.' Mr. Vikramarka said, 'SCCL, with over a hundred years of experience in coal mining, is being considered for profitable ventures in technical and mineral excavation.' New mines are ready to extract 22 million tonnes of coal over the next 30 years, he noted, referring to the expansion and diversification plans of SCCL. Emphasising on the safety and welfare of the workforce, he said, 'The primary goal is the safety of Singareni workers – business comes only after that. SCCL is providing ₹1 crore accident insurance cover along with compassionate appointments to SCCL workers.' Meanwhile, addressing the Telangana Adivasi Congress workers' meeting in Palvancha, he hit out at the previous BRS government accusing it of failing to utilise the SC/ST Sub-Plan funds. 'In the current Praja government, we are spending every rupee of Sub-Plan funds with precision. Under the Sub-Plan, ₹17,169 crore has been allocated for tribals this fiscal. Additionally, ₹1,296 crore unspent funds from the past have been carried forward,' he said. In 2006, the then Congress-led Central government issued land titles to tribals cultivating forest lands, he recalled, adding that the current Congress dispensation in Telangana allocated funds for tribals to live with dignity in line with the party's Nallamala Declaration. He reminded that during his tenure as Deputy Speaker in united Andhra Pradesh, he ensured that the SC/ST Sub-Plan Act was passed in the Assembly. He added that the Indira Saura Giri Jala Vikasam scheme envisages irrigation facilities to 6.7 lakh acres of tribal land besides offering free pumpsets and plants like avocado and oil palm. Allocation of ₹1,000 crore for tribals under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme is a historic first in India, he asserted.

Submit proposals for medical equipment: SCCL CMD

Kothagudem: Expressing serious concern, Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) N Balram questioned area hospitals for their negligence in sending timely proposals for required medical equipment. On Thursday, during a review meeting with Area Medical Officers, he instructed that all area hospitals must immediately submit proposals for essential medical equipment and medicines. He warned that during his inspections, no officer should say a certain piece of equipment is unavailable. 'Irrespective of annual plans or schedules, the requirement for medical devices should be identified and proposals submitted without delay,' he said. He stated that doctors and technicians have already been allocated to area hospitals, and the management is ready to provide additional manpower if needed. Despite the ability to treat minor health issues at local hospitals, cases are frequently being referred to Hyderabad hospitals. 'Over the past three years, referral bills have increased from Rs 30 crores to Rs 100 crores,' he pointed out and expressed disappointment that company doctors were not demonstrating their capability. He also informed that efforts are underway to establish a super specialty hospital in Hyderabad.

Kavitha launches Singareni Jagruthi, expands her turf to coal belt area

Hyderabad: Stepping up her activities, BRS MLC and Telangana Jagruthi founder has launched 'Singareni Jagruthi' exclusively to expand the Jagruthi activities in coal belt areas. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She announced that it will work with Telangana Boggugani Karmika Sangam (TGBGKS), the BRS-affiliated Singareni workers' union. Incidentally, Kavitha is the honorary president of TGBKS, but the union has been inactive for the past one and a half years. After the formation of Singareni Jagruthi, Kavitha on Tuesday appointed coordinators for 11 Singareni areas in the coal belt, and all activities in these areas would be taken up under the flag of Singareni Jagruthi. Kavitha announced that she would constitute a women's wing of Singareni Jagruthi soon. TGBKS was once a strong workers' union in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and even a recognised union earlier. However, in the Dec 2023 elections, the union did not field any candidates due to confusion whether to contest the polls or not. Finally, almost all-important leaders of TGBKS joined Congress-affiliated trade union INTUC, which is now the recognised workers' union of SCCL. The formation of Singareni Jagruthi has assumed significance as she was the honorary president of TGBKS and can revive and strengthen the trade union in Singareni areas. The SCCL workers are important for any political party, as about 40,000 workers and their families are spread across 11 assembly constituencies in the coal belt area. In the 2023 assembly elections, Congress had won 10 of the 11 assembly constituencies in the coal belt. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Singareni Jagruthi will take up various activities for the welfare of the workers and protect the rights of workers in the coming days. The Congress govt wants to ruin SCCL with its corruption. We will fight for the medical and education facilities of the Singareni workers' families," Kavitha said, while addressing the Telangana Jagruthi workers at her residence in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Kavitha, who announced the names of coordinators in the meeting, demanded that the Singareni management should restart the schools and introduce CBSE syllabus in them. The MLC also asked the govt to provide free corporate hospital treatment to the workers, apart from constructing new quarters for the workers, as many dwellings, which were constructed several decades ago, were in a dilapidated condition. She alleged that District Mineral Trust Fund (DMFT) funds were being diverted to other assembly constituencies by the ruling party from coal belt areas. "The BRS govt under KCR restarted dependent employment in SCCL, but the Congress govt wants to ruin the coal company with its corruption. The Jaipur thermal power plant cost was escalated by 5,000 crore," Kavitha said. Singareni Jagruthi would fight for the welfare and rights of the workers by chalking out programmes, she added.

Three-pronged strategy to create job opportunities, promote self-employment, says Bhatti Vikramarka

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said the Congress government is implementing a three-pronged strategy for providing job opportunities in both government and private sectors besides promoting self-employment opportunities through skill and entrepreneurship development to address unemployment in the State. Speaking after inaugurating a mega job mela held in Wyra town of Khammam district on Saturday, Mr Vikramarka accused the previous BRS government of failing to fill 2 lakh vacancies and to conduct even a single Group-I services recruitment exam during its 10-year rule. Many qualified youths were left unemployed, which led to emotional and financial distress among families, he added. He said the people's government is ensuring employment and livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth in three phases. The Telangana Public Service Commission has been restricted, a job calendar was released, 56,000 government jobs were filled in the first year, he asserted, adding that efforts were underway to fill another 30,000 jobs. With a thrust on attracting multinational companies through infrastructure development, the Congress government is striving to create job opportunities for lakhs of youths in the private sector. An amount of ₹9,000 crore has been allocated to promote self-employment opportunities among youth through the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme, he noted. He added that the sanction letters will be handed over to 5 lakh youth under the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme on June 2 on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, Wyra MLA Maloth Ramdas Nayak, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balram and others were present. According to the organisers, the mega job mela was conducted in association with the SCCL. More than 80 private companies have participated in it. Around 5,800 job seekers attended the job mela.
